Better than your average museum fare, with an excellent view as well.
This is a wonderful place to have lunch or dinner. The food is very good despite service that is a little amateurish if very enthusiastic. The menu is very good with a number of interesting appetizers and small plates and bigger, more substantial main courses. They serve interesting cocktails and there's a nice wine list with decent wines by the glass too. I will go back.
We enjoyed the special menu of the day that came with wine pairings.
One of our best meals on recent LA trip. Spectacular setting, delicious food, and gracious service. The ramen noodle dish was loaded with flavor and a fresh spring salad was just that - fresh and springy! My only regret is that they were not serving on their terrace, despite perfect weather. Couldn't figure that out, but loved it nonetheless!
One of the best places in Los Angeles or the world for that matter, where you can enjoy a superb meal, great art and the sunset!
Always enjoy Getty Restaurant. Choices are limited, portions are petite but food is decent and the place is classy and quiet.
Just about the loveliest, most civilized lunch in town....
My "go to" place for meeting important people in my life. Beautiful views, sophisticated ambiance, excellent food choices accompanied by wonderful service.
We had lunch here on our Getty Center visit. Nice ambiance, good food. Maybe a little pricy but we enjoyed ourselves. Overall thumbs up.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Getty and the delicious lunch. The view is amazing and everything else was also great!
Waiter was a little lacking in expertise. Food and wine wer wonderful. Wine glasses were spiled on and not cleaned. ON
Not only are the views spectacular the food was even better. Definitely worth the drive and the parking fee.
Quiet with a view. Mediocre wine list. New menu weak. Needs to work on service. So much potential. Taking advantage of tourists and forgetting locals.
My moms 60th birthday
The food was amazing
The staff was great
The views and decor make it a great place to dine at
Spectacular setting and wonderful food
As many of the diners were in the over-60 group, perhaps you might consider having more options that are still trendy, as your dining room always is, but not so spicy. I do not recall ever having a hard time finding options that I wanted. It should be the other way around - you want to eat everything on the menu!
The entire experience was great. We enjoyed the food, the service, and the ambiance. It was a fine prelude to the museum visit, the art and the architecture. Everything was what we hoped our trip to the Getty would be. Thank you for a memorable time.
The food was lovely but afraid the service was a bit lacking.
Erwen was a wonderful waitperson, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable
Pros: Great food, scenery
Cons: Terrible service, had to ask for ices tea and coffee refills three times. Young waiter does not seem to comprehend service. One time the busboy saw me looking for server and mentioned it to server, who then came over.
Tables close to each other caused easy overhearing and less intimacy.
On almost every visit to LA, we visit the Getty, always with an Open Table reservation to this serene, contemporary restaurant with views, great service, perfect cuisine and sophisticated wines. The bread basket tells you it’s going to be good. Then come the fresh and innovative takes on Cobb and Caesar Salads, fresh seafood, and elegant portions of beef, pork and other non-intimidating entrees. You might even be able to justify splitting a dessert or lingering over another cocktail or a chilled Chardonnay, before taking the tram down the hill. We always arrive at the Betty Center when the gates open, like 10:00 AM, have the whole museum pretty much to ourselves for a couple of hours and then relax over lunch at the upscale restaurant, yielding the museum, its architecture and grounds to those who arrive too late for this privileged experience at leisure. We enjoyed sharing our secret with you. Try it.
Very disappointing menu and the food was very poor. We had the lamb meatballs for an appetizer and they were dry and overcooked. The house salad was so minimal it appeared to be almost the size of a garnish. This food appears to be created to be trendy and minimalist. However, it misses the mark completely because it is not tasty or particularly unusual. Very poor value for little taste and portion size.
I have been going to the Getty for many years and always stop for lunch. For now on I will stop in Beverly Hills instead.
Certainly worth the drive. Enjoying our wine to start my husband asked, "I wonder how many people drive to the Getty Center and tram it up just to go to the restaurant?" I responded " we did!" It was our first destination after a 374 mile drive from San Francisco. Everything is truly great about the restaurant and cannot wait to return.
SERVICE LEVELS WERE VERY POOR AND FOOD SELECTION VERY LIMITED
In past years we've had wonderful meals there. This time, the food was salty and frankly not good anyway--any of the dishes--and the service was uninformed and dismissive. Something has deteriorated there.
Excellent food and service. We both had the Cobb salad, which was great. Just the right amount of chicken, apple, etc. The bread was also delicious.
The only one figuring for reservations. Somehow I did not notice it was that expensive.
Gorgeous restaurant and site. Formal, but still very relaxed. After all, many were tourists stopping in for a bite. Artisanal American cheeses and housemade charcuterie exceptional. Very good chittarra pasta with pancetta (perhaps a bit too generous in pancetta, and pasta was not quite as al dente as I prefer) and perfectly runny egg yolk on top to create sauce. Herbed omelette was perfectly silky soft the way we prefer (without asking for specific way we wanted it cooked), sign of a good restaurant for us. I’d make it a regular brunch spot if I lived there!
A beautiful setting with excellent service.
Overall, a five star dining experience.
Delicious food, excellent service! Definitely, we're going back on a clear night to enjoy the view!
We were with friends touring the Getty Center. I had read about the restaurant online. I’m so glad we made reservations. By the way, reservations are a must. Two of us had a Cobb Salad. It was excellent. The others had the Scallop Salad. I understand it is a seasonal menu. It was not an inexpensive lunch but a very enjoyable one. The restaurant is quiet and is a nice break before going back out to tour the center.
Great place to eat after a morning visiting the museum. Wonderful views, great food and a very relaxing place to chill.
Beautiful views, excellent service, and tasty food.
Elegant meal for a museum cafe.
Lunch before museum hack was awesome. Food, service, ambiance & view were great!
Beautiful restaurant and beautifully presented food.
We went to the Getty to see “Selected Shorts,” a wonderful evening of actors reading short stories. We ate at the restaurant which is much more elegant than I remembered. It’s a white-tablecloth place with excellent food. My friend had the fennel-citrus salad and paella (two appetizers) and loved them both. I had a glass of Pinot Gris and the scallop entree, which was beautifully prepared. The scallops were seared on one side and perfectly cooked. It was served with risotto, asparagus and frisée. I asked for another green as I don’t like frisée, and the waiter happily substituted arugula. It was delicious. It was my friend’s birthday, so we ordered the bread pudding with lemon curd, meringue and blueberry ice cream. Also delicious. I would definitely return. But leave plenty of time. The service was leisurely. We had nearly 2 hours but had to rush to the theater.
Overall good experience, however, service was a bit slow and we had a couple long waits (to get the desert menu, to get the coffee and desert). A bit too pricey to go up the hill just for dinner, but good when paired with other Getty events.
We have been going to The Getty Restaurant to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries for a few years now, and it never fails to satisfy both for excellent food and for excellent environment. The service (especially in Louie's section) is always wonderful and friendly. We would never hesitate to recommend spending time there enjoying a great meal!
This is a truly excellent restaurant, it would be worth coming to even if you were not visiting the museum. I would make it a point to return when in the area.
