Restaurant at Peninsula Ridge Ratings and Reviews
We sat upstairs next to a draft door. Our food was delicious and well played. Our service was poor. Neither our waitress nor the bus person checked on us during the entire meal. I had to ask for a refill of my glass of water and my question was met with a quizzical and unpleasant response. Not five dining at its best when only the food is superior.
We liked the relaxed atmosphere like being at a friend's home for dinner. The celebration was a birthday - what was nice was that none of the attending staff let on about any celebration until the desert which came out with a candle on it. The service was well timed and executed smoothly without a flaw. The ceasar salad was extremely tasty. The food was delicious from my wife's halibut, my surf and turf , my good friend's surf and turf and the birthday girl's salmon done to perfection. The steaks were perfectly cooked medium. All rubs and spices used added to the ultimate feast. The wine list was proprietor's wine and it did not leave us feeling like we needed a further selection. The Shiraz was delicious.
We will definitely come back again.
The food was wonderful, tasty, creative and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is very pleasant and relaxing. The wait staff were attentive and very pleasant. Views from the restaurant across Lake Ontario and the winery are lovely. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed her birthday lunch.
Years ago, with talented chef 'Ned Bell' at its helm, owner of this winery fine-dining destination had the grandiose aspiration of transforming it into the 'French Laundry' of the Niagara wine region. Unfortunately, with only a short tenure, Chef Bell decided to depart for greener pastures on the west coast!
Although this sudden development was a devastating one, however, the owners managed to overcome the adversity and, through out all these years, managed to maintain this premise as one of the best winery dining destinations in the region.
With a fairly mild and partially sunny day, we decided to show our out-of-town guest a completely 'change-of-scenery' luncheon dining experience. Being on a quiet weekday, we received a very special treatment by having the entire upper floor dining room of the restaurant all to ourselves! Unexpected Private Dining treatment! What a way to impress our guest! Ha!
Currently, under the guidance of Chef Matt Hemingson, Peninsula Ridge is offering some delightful French influence cuisine with a rustic touch, using mainly local and Canadian ingredients. Food was well executed with some interesting and delectable taste profile. Casing point, a flavorful, fork tender grass-fed beef brisket and Steamed Mussels with Lavender, fennel and Bee Pollen! Portions were surprisingly generous and IMO, extremely good value for money. Service was charming, efficient and friendly. Decor and ambiance was quaint, romantic, quiet and artful.
BTW, of all the dishes savored, the star of the meal was an amazingly delicious ' Warm Local Pear Strudel with Forty Creek Whiskey ice cream and Chestnut cream '! Man! Was that goooood!!
Wow - what a great experience! We were leaving wine country and looking for a place for brunch. We decided to skip the line-ups and bustle of downtown NOTL and stopped in at Peninsula Ridge on the way home. We now have another go-to place when we visit Twenty Valley and he Beamsville Bench.
The lovely Victorian mansion and superb dinner were definitely worth the drive from Vaughan for myself, my husband and two other couples. Our appetizers and entrees were perfection and I'm not being dramatic when I say that there were sighs and comments of pleasure when we took the first few bites of each entree. We chose the 2015 Reserve Meritage to complement our meal and it did so very well. My one regret is that due to our 8 pm reservation we were not able to linger after dinner because the restaurant closes at 9 pm. By the time we finished dessert , it was nearly 10 pm. This was my first experience dining at Peninsula Ridge and I'm already looking forward to the next one...except that the reservation will be for 6 pm so that the experience can be savoured at a more leisurely pace.
We were disappointed. While the patio is lovely, the service was mediocre and the food -despite the fancy descriptions - was poor. The lobster roll came in a huge, hard, cold bun which I discarded. The chimichura chicken sandwich was almost inedibly dry. We have had lovely meals at winery restaurants in Niagara but this was not one of them. Will not return. For good winery food try Vineland Estates, Peller, Ravine and Trius.
It was our first time at Peninsula Ridge and we absolutely loved it. The ambiance on the patio was wonderful. My husband had the mussels which he enjoyed and we both had the lamb loin. It was excellent! One of the best restaurant meals we've had! Will definitely be going back.
In years past, Peninsula Ridge food and service had declined, but I'd heard it had improved. I'm so glad I tried it again! Upon entering Tracey set the mood for a fabulous night with great food, great service. The view is awesome as usual and I just couldn't believe how better the whole experience was to the time a couple of years ago when we left still hungry!! Fantastic squash soup, the pickerel was amazing and we topped it off with a salted caramel chocolate pie. We had the Tawse sparkling wine to start as well. The flavours of the food were so memorable we didn't want the meal to end. The portion size was just perfect for all round enjoyment. Thanks for upping your game, Peninsula Ridge! (since it's literally right down the street from my house, I'll be back for sure!!)
This was my third time at Peninsula Ridge, I had such a lovely time the first two visits that I brought my family this time. Everyone loved their lunch, we were there for Sunday brunch. The food is consistently thoughtful and delicious, the service is so professional yet friendly and unassuming. The view from the terrace on the vineyards, spectacular. I would highly recommend this restaurant at any time of the year, but the summer and fall outside is special and exactly what most of us look for when heading to the wine country for lunch.
