A staff person in wine store had no knowledge about the grapes grown i.e. what type, what was harvested. Luckily we were directed to second staff person who was knowledgeable. No one on kitchen staff knew the vendor of the local cheese monger. The plating of the meals was unattractive, no garnish- simply dumped on the plate. We had 3 to 4 previous excellent visits prior to the pandemic. Something has changed. On the positive side our waitress was very good. We are not in a rush to to return anytime soon.
Food was pretty good but not outstanding. Service was slow. Wine by the glass far too expensive
We chose this lovely spot for the food, the wine and the view - my lunch companion had never been - and we were not disappointed. Despite being windy, we are able to dine on the beautiful patio, with views of the lake, with Toronto on the far shore, and lots of beautiful grape vines! Would definitely return!
I was unfortunately disappointed with both the lunch & coffee. The shrimp roll I had was okay on the flavour front, but for such a restaurant I do expect more than just okay. Some dill, lemon and dijon would have gone a long way to add to the flavour. Also the coffee was cold when it came to the table, so for the second cup I made sure to ask the server for a freshly brewed pot and it came steaming hot which was appreciated.
On the positive front, the staff were right on top of asking for vaccine proof & ID upon arrival and each table is divided by a clear screen.
My previous experiences in the food choices and flavour had been good which is why I took my close friend for her birthday, but not sure now going forward that I would go again.
My first culinary disappointment at this usually outstanding Restaurant. I will think twice about returning even though it has been my favourite 'Most Special Lunch' choice for years. Everything, an everyone, was a terrific as usual with one startling exception -- both of my lunch choices, the mussels and the trout, were drastically over-SALTED. This salt overload dominated the actual flavours of the potentially excellent dishes. I scooped out the mussels and enjoyed them whilst avoiding any more of the broth -- usually sooo delicious!
I hoped that it was an error only with the mussels, but the trout too arrived with salt as the top 'taste'. Textures of all components of my plate were superb, as was presentation -- such a shame. I beg the Chef de Cuisine to please salt only lightly, and request that the Restaurant perhaps provide the downscale little paper packets of table salt to guests who'd like to add more. (Those packets would not require any extra cleaning as shaker-dispensers would.)
Cannot bear to think the over-salting is that old pub strategy of increasing the thirst of diners! Better it be due to the chef's own palate, as s/he can dial-down the amount offered to his guests.
It was a fabulous lunch ..we would have liked to sit on the patio but it was a windy day so preferable indoors..still a beautiful view of the lake ..the risotto was outstanding ,the wine also and so was the very attentive service
Old scratched silver with bent tips and fingerprints , very unpleasant.
Smell of old house inside , unpleasant.
Toilet ceiling is probably less than 6 ft ,
I'm 6ft and I hit my head so badly that I could see starts, thanks god no bleeding .
Eventually someone will break their head and sue them ...
The glass of wine is very small for what you pay , about ~2oz .
It's only nice to sit outside and sip cold wine in a summer for sure !
Incredible service and exceptional food/presentation. A+ dinner selection
Great service. Outstanding meal.
While the food was very tasty, the food choices were limited
We have a dietary restriction which we let the restaurant know when they called to confirm the reservatation 2 days prior. Not only this, we reminded our server of the restriction multiple times while placing the order still we were served what we don't eat.
Celebrated our 2 year anniversary at PR where we were married. Mel and the staff in the restaurant were amazing as always and the food was nothing short of incredible. Thank you for making our evening special xo
The scenery was excellent, service was great. Disappointed on the food. Shrimp roll was disappointing, potato wedges very dry.
Very tasty menu and portion size was good. Service at our table was excellent.
Beautiful grounds! The gardens were lovely. We enjoyed our lunch on the patio which provided a wonderful view of the gardens and vineyards.
The food was delicious, actually better than expected. The service was friendly and as attentive as needed. The outside view is so lovely and refreshing. A very welcoming place.
The service was great, the food was exquisite and the wine fabulous. The views, ambiance and location was perfect!
Two of us came for a late lunch. The second sitting turned out to be perfect. The early lunch crowd finished and left soon after we arrived so we had a secluded - almost private - section of the deck for most of our meal. The service was efficient but not intrusive and definitely not hurrying. The view and ambience was great. My risotto with braised beef was very good and my companion declared that the gnocchi was the best she ever had - melt in your mouth good! Overall, we had a memorable experience at Peninsule Ridge. Definitely five stars.
Food was excellent. We were seated alone in a room with three tables. Since we’ve dined alone almost completely during the pandemic, we would have appreciated sitting in a room with others. Service very good; not great.
Beautiful day for lunch on the patio. Quality, freshness and presentation- excellent. The flavour couldn't be beat. We had the Yuca Gnocchi with Sage Butter. Melt in your mouth. The portion sizes are adequate for lunch.
2020 Pinot Grigio delicious❣
The food was good but the service by Diana was cold and without inspiration
beautiful setting -- nice people - comfortable accommodations.
Awesome lunch from patio ambiance to service to food and drink.
Gorgeous evening on the Niagara Bench.
Enjoyed some delicious food and wine. Highly recommend.
We were celebrating my husband’s 65 th birthday. We both ordered the tomahawk pork chops at 40$ a plate. The chop was so tough I had trouble putting my fork into the meat. I did not feel the wine that was suggested paired well with the meal. We were not told until the end of the evening that we could recap the bottle to take away.
Serve was extremely slow. It was a lengthily wait until the main meal came. Time elapsed between the appetizer and main meal was far too long over 40 minutes. Steamed mussels were excellent which we had as the appetizer. We were offered dessert on the house but unfortunately overall not a great experience.
The pork was delicious, amazing flavours throughout the entire dish. Their sparkling riesling is my new favourite wine.
Beautiful ambiance. Very peaceful. One of the most delicious meals I’ve had in a while! Gnocchi was top notch and Caesar salad unbelievable!
The patio was beautiful, the tables nicely spaced apart. Food was overall good. My PEI mussels appetizer arrived "cool" but the taste was nonetheless very good. I recommend asking for a description of the menu items; my husband ordered Shrimp Spring Roll which was actually (many) shrimp served on a (large) bun with french fries. Not the "oriental" taste implied by the name, but overall good.
What we had was delicious, but the menu does did some improvement. The service as always was excellent.
The outdoor patio is spacious with great views from its elevation. The service was attentive, but not overbearing--just right. Great presentation of the food and drinks, and tasted just as good. High quality food and good sized portions. Looking forward to the next time.
Nice setting and service.
This restaurant has been a staple for us even before we moved down here. Today we wanted to do lunch on the patio overlooking the vineyards. Food was great as usual, especially my main course - mushroom risotto with beef. The spiced pears and preserved raspberries were a great addition allowing the entire course to go really well with the reserve Syrah we had with our meal. My wife thought it needed more salt but to me that would have ruined the fruit overtones in it.
One comment is the markup on the wines is extreme considering the list is made up of their own wines. The reserve Syrah we had was $30 at the store (just behind the restaurant) but the charge was $75 in the restaurant.
Fine dining and delicious. Would like to go back for a romantic dinner. The brunch was more than I expected. Went for 30th anniversary .
Great dining experience !! Great service and great food and wine 😄
We will be back
Food, atmosphere and scenery were impressive. Looking forward to going back again.
Been coming for years and always live the food and location. Menu selections are very limited and not great at that. Service is great but the food is terribly disappointing. Will not return because of this.
Very disappointed they had run out of the trout. We had come here based on that dish.
Reservations were made as recommended by others. We were seated and met our waitress within several minutes. This gave us a chance to appreciate the area surrounding our outside table. Pre dinner drinks were served promptly. Both our meals were excellent!
We were transferred inside, as were others, due to a pending storm.
All in all, our expectations were met. Dessert was decadent.
Wait staff were most accommodating. Will return again.
Celebrated our 12th Wedding Anniversary (dined here, last year for our 11th as well).
Very good restaurant. The food was good. I think I choose an entree that was not the best but others food seemed great. My wine selection was extremely good. The service was very good. I would definitely return but try something else on the menu.
