It was too damn good
I am happy to be a customer to help Collins students learn hospitality service! Chef Michael Reye's experience has transferred to great tasting food, I love the Chop Salad!
Had a great meal all prepared served etc by students. Food was great, the restaurant is lovely, and prices and portions a good value. We went after our first tour with our daughter who was accepted to the school for this fall!
Everything was perfect and everyone was very kind.
I celebrated my husband’s birthday dinner at R K R with an other couple this evening - overall a pleasant dining experience
I had dinner during the first open eveninf of the quarter. Restaurant opened a few minutes before my 6pm reservation. The hostest was prompt, courteous and sweet. I was seated promptly. My server was Lily. Lily was knowledgable, made thoughtful recommendations and attentive. Most of the staff are students. Food was decent, if it wasnt for educational and students support prices would be considered a little high. Wine was reasonably priced. I did not have dessert.
Everything was great. The only comment I'd like to make is our dear waitress was very nice, however her voice is very low and it was hard to hear what she was saying. Another nit, but worthy of mentioning is that we received a glass of water without a straw. I did as the busboy for a straw and he mysteriously disappeared. I finally had to call a manager over to obtain a straw.
Other than the items above, my date and I had a great time at lunch. The food was excellent and we plan to return for dinner.
Friendly staff, nice ambiance, and tasty food. I'm happy to support this student-run business.
RKR is a student run restaurant with a changing menu per quarter/ semester. It is a wonderful way for students to obtain real life experience of running a restaurant while guests can enjoy amazing and delicious dishes for very reasonable prices!
My arugula salad is a little plain...maybe if they add cranberries and cheese, it'll be more tasty...
Overall I think the food could be better....
Mac and Cheese definitely needs to be better...I expected Mac and Cheese with luscious three cheese combination with fresh grated parmesan....and probably a side of thin garlic bread....
Mexican Chocolate cake for dessert served cold....upon my request they did warmed it up...
I wish it's melty inside with chocolate flowing out....with Horchata ice cream it'll be a perfect match...
And I wish the chocolate was the true, dark, quality chocolate...with the sweet and bitter combination...
I ordered coffee and I think the price for a cup of coffee is a bit pricy....$4.25...
I came with an expectation of great good with great price. The price of the food is good, but not so with the drinks...
I came here once for dinner and I thought my dinner experience was way better.
I hope you can improve! :) Thanks.
We had nice seating in President's Room for a group of 5. Service was delayed with serving coffee and at end of our meal we tried to order dessert and we told that they ran out! We were very disappointed. :-( Overall, we had a nice time, food and ambiance was good.
Had a nice lunch, a heirloom tomato and mozzarella appetizer, split a corned beef and a steak sandwich, and finished with a berry crumble. Only complaint is the serving of the steak sandwich, Marina took my concern about it being a whole strip, and was a gracious server. I would highly recommend this laboratory and restaurant for a lovely meal with a view
The food and service were excellent. The background noice was minimal, making it a very good venue for conducting business or for catching up with good friends. I found it refreshing to interact with the enthusiastic student staff, and I would recommend The Ranch to everyone.
When I arrived the hosts had pleasant smiles. Felt comfortable from the start. We had a cozy table with a nice view. The whole staff was very professional. Our waiter Stephen was very helpful and sociable. I would definitely recommend it to friends, family as well as co-workers.
My husband and I went to Kellogg Ranch for Valentines Day. The special of the day was encouraged so we tried it. The lobster mac and cheese was amazing! Then the main dish was a piece of steak with a small amount of lettuce salad on top. The salad was very tasty and so was the steak. I think there needed to be more salad or a veggie with the meat because just eating meat as the main course with a few leaves was too meaty. The Chocolate covered strawberries were also wonderful, however I have never been to an upscale restaurant that did not have a cake or tart etc. option for dessert as well as bread served with the meal.
The servers were very sweet and we loved being with them in this atmosphere. They did neglect to refill my drink even though I reminded them 3 times and our server got our bill wrong 3 times. My husband could have walked away with only paying for one entre:0
Overall we loved our lunch at the Ranch and any suggestions we would make are only suggestions of what we like and prefer. You are doing a wonderful job and we hope to come back soon!
The atmosphere was great. The restaurant was recently renovated and the decor was fitting. We enjoyed three courses from appetizer to dessert and everything was impeccable.
Food was not good quality. The restaurant Overall was very nice, but our waiter wasn't very knowledgeable about the menu, and the quality of food was not worth the price.
Wonderful dining experience...will definitely return .
Greta food and service! I had reservations and was seated in a timely manner. The food came out at a good pace and the staff was cordial, helpful, and very professional.
The food was delicious. Taylor, our server, was very friendly with a great personality. LaMarr was great as well and came to our table.
Very enjoyable place to eat. And everyone very nice
The food and the service was very good. In particular Audra was friendly and helpful.
Great student ran restaurant.
Had a great evening with friends.
This place is hard to find. It is a student-run restaurant in the Cal Poly Pomona campus. Google Maps failed us. It is at the end of Horse Hill Drive on top of the hill overlooking the 57 freeway. The food was great and very reasonable for a 3-course meal. The menu is prix-fixe with an appetizer, main course and dessert. There are at least 3 options to choose from for each course. We will come back here since we live 15 minutes away.
It's a nice restaurant and it's great to give hospitality students the experience cooking and serving. The service was fine, but WAY too much. We had multiple servers/managers asking us how everything was and whether we wanted anything else -- over and over again. Frankly, it interrupted our conversation too many times. Once or twice is plenty. The kids were cute, however, and it's hard to get upset when they are trying so hard.
Incredible view and our server Nia was excellent with great recommendations!
Had a leisurely 2 hours 3 course luncheon with friends served & cooked by hospitality students.
it is a great place, and you can give the students good practices that they need.
Thank you, Vincent Gamalinda for inviting us. We had an awesome time!
We had a wonderful lunch. The food was great and the service was friendly. We will definitely be back. (The view is beautiful!)
Brooke F. did a great job making sure our dining and drink needs were met. She was kind and professional. She made helpful suggestions and did everything she could to make sure we enjoyed our dining experience. My husband and I ordered the from the pre fixe menu - $30.00 for three courses. Great deal! My first course - the Ahi and avocado poke - was delicious - beautifully dressed. Our strip steaks were fantastic . And the complimentary pretzel rolls were scrumptious. This place is a hidden gem. That the food was prepared by culinary students is just wonderful. They did a superb job. We hope to return soon!
Food somewhat slow in coming out. We hand an one hour limit for lunch so by the time the food came to the table we had to eat it in about 20 minutes.
I came by for my friend's management week and I have to say I was absolutely wowed by the entire experience. I will gladly come back!
Afraid to give a worthy 5 rating, because it's difficult to get a reservation. It must be noted, the restaurant has always lived up to my 5 star rating. The food is well seasoned, I ordered a steak sandwich; which I never due to lack of tenderness, the steak was absolutely tender. Son ordered fish, of which he absolutely raved over. Next time. If I can get a reservation, I will order the turkey club, daughter in-law stated it was carved turkey and not commonly served processed poultry.
Good food! This is a student run restaurant - the service is very attentive. The menu is set for a quarter with weekly specials. I had an affogato for dessert when I was there - it was very good. Every item on the menu looked yummy, so I had difficulty choosing. I went with the strawberry salad - 5 stars, and the club sandwich - 5 stars. I appreciated that the fruit cup with the sandwich had blackberries in it in addition to melon and pineapple. Good combo. It's a little tricky to find the restaurant - just follow the directions on their web page. Great to see the students learning the ropes.
My long-time friends and I thoroughly enjoy lunching at Kellogg Ranch. Years ago, we were part of a ladies group which regularly met at your fine restaurant, and utilized Cal Poly meeting rooms as well. It is truly a delight to return to Kellogg Ranch and we thought the new décor very current and lovely. Your staff has always been excellent, too.
Had a great lunch with friends and family here. Made a reservation and were seated immediately. How often does that happen anymore?
Really nice ambiance - quiet, modern interior, and an AMAZING view of the rolling hills around Cal Poly! Have seen it at night and it is even prettier with all the lights. Would be a great place for a date night.
Shared many of the items. I'm not much of an appetizer person, but theirs were fantastic! I am a lamb-hater, but the Lamb Huaraches were yummy, the shrimp ceviche also, and everyone raved over the avocado bruschetta (it was gone before I got a chance!). A nearby table ordered the steak fries which also looked really good. The catch of the day topped with pineapple salsa was delicious. Also the turkey club. My daughter devoured her spinach and strawberry salad. I didn't try the Pozole, although I wish I had. The person who ordered it said it was a little too spicy for their taste, but I thought it looked really good! The Cobb Salad was also yummy, although I did miss the bacon.
I was waaay too full for dessert, but did try a bite of the berry cheesecake. Really good, and I liked the fact it was not overly sweet.
It is student-run, so it is fun to watch them learn all the aspects of running a restaurant. With this in mind, allow plenty of time - we had a very relaxed lunch - all three courses took 1 hour 45 minutes.
The whole experience was a fantastic one. Everything was really great! I am excited to come back again before the quarter ends! :)
The menu changes each quarter with a new group of students. It's fun to see the students at work in the kitchen and serving you from the moment you walk in. The food is always tasty and offers a nice chose in all the options from appetizers to dessert. We meet as work colleagues that never get a chance to talk and share. We shared appetizers, and desserts. The students work so hard to make your experience the best. The tips go towards scholarships so that the "hands on" learning can continue. Learn by doing.... the Cal Poly motto is certainly carried out here.
The service food and the service were great! The staff was warm and friendly.
