About Restaurant Alma
Opened in 1999, Restaurant Alma is a casual fine dining restaurant, offering eclectic American cuisine and warm hospitality in a rustic historically preserved building. A high, open beam ceiling, exposed brick columns and concrete floors display the original space, while an open kitchen, banquette seating and gentle lighting contribute to an intimate and contemporary feel.
Alma is best known for sourcing the best quality seasonal ingredients available and features a high percentage of local and organic products. Our menu changes every six to eight weeks, offering both new and signature dishes. We feature both a three course tasting menu format, allowing the customer to select any three dishes from the menu for $59 and a la carte options.

Restaurant Alma Ratings and Reviews
The entire experience was fantastic. The new space is beautiful (the lighting could use some work). Purr server was clearly very into his job and into the ethos of the restaurant (in a good way, not annoying) But most importantly the food was incredible, every course was fantastic. Great wine too. Loved it.
This is our go to place for special occasions. The ambiance in the downstairs room is unbeatable - comfortable seating, intimate tables. There were 5 of us and the service was exquisite - even though half of us had the time wrong! They have a great wine list and knowledgeable wait staff.
I was disappointed on my recent trip to Restaurant Alma. While the service was outstanding,
the food did not impress. The preparations were creative, but all the dishes were way too sweet. We had the tasting menu, and all three dishes had way too much sugar. So much so,
that when dessert arrived I could not appreciate it. I'm not sure I would return.
I asked them to leave off the poblano peppers, which they did and the meal was perfect. My companions however had over spiced scallops and my husbands pheasant was overly seasoned so no longer could tell it was pheasant. But the first two course were superb.
Amazing food! Simply incredible. We got seated at the mezzanine and the light and the set-up there wasn't as great as in the main dining area, though the servers did everything they could to make our experience as amazing as possible, and I really appreciated it. If I come here next time, I hope to be placed in the main dining area as the ambiance and the lighting there are much better, especially for a romantic date that we were on. All in all, really great!
Restaurant Alma has been on our list of places to go for a couple of years. We are so glad we finally made it. The food was absolutely amazing and the service even better! We had a fantastic evening between the superb, seasonal dishes; creative mocktails; and out-of-this-world service. We hope to be back soon!
My date hadn’t been to Alma before. They were delighted by how delicious the food was, and despite what visually seemed like smaller-than-they-were-used-to portions, they were satiated when we left. I hadn’t been to Alma in over 5 years, and the last time I was there was with my now ex-spouse. I had so many fond memories, and was not disappointed. Alma was and remains my favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. Alex Roberts and his team are phenomenal at what they do. Thank you, thank you, thank you Alma for once again giving me an experience to remember.
This was the best meal we've had this year, and we're frequent fine diners. All 3 of my courses (crudo, orzo, duck) were excellent as were the cocktail and wine. The service was attentive and informed, and when the bar was a little slow, we got a gratis glass of champagne.
The hostess was a bit rude when we arrived 7 minutes before our 6:30 reservation an told us to go stand in the cafe until she was ready to seat us. We were seated about 6:40 and there were plenty of open tables. The wait was worth it because the food was exceptional. Looking forward to going back because there were so many delicious looking choices we could not try them all !
We had heard wonderful comments about Restaurant Alma for years and decided to reward ourselves with dinner there after completing a large project. In short, they delivered in every way. Creative, delicious cuisine served in an appealing and unpretentious manner. Friendly, knowledgeable, efficient wait staff. Good buzz within the restaurant, but could carry on a conversation easily. Would highly recommend.
Our first trip back to Alma since their remodel.
They have upped their already high game, and while the food is quite good, Alma is no longer the value it once was.
The three course fix price menu is quite good, although it may be more food (and cost) than some would like. Next time I might be tempted to share a dinner.
Another good restaurant for “foodies” in the Twin Cities.
Have dined at Alma's in the past but this was the first time since their expansion. Very busy even on an early Sunday evening. Loved the first courses, with 2 completely different tastes--Roasted fall veggies, yellowtail crudo. 2nd course--Masa corn crepe was very bright tasting. I'm a big fan of sweetbreads but I thought these were a little overcooked. Both entrees were quite rich (pork tenderloin & duck breast). I felt like the kitchen was falling behind by the time of our 3rd course, we waited a long time for it to come out. My companion was not pleased with the vermouth old fashioned but I liked it (did not taste like an old fashioned, maybe that's why I liked it!). I also enjoyed the Spritz Life, very light and not too sweet. I really like what they do with veggies and I would recommend this place to my vegetarian friends.
We had the three course fall menu. The four of us all loved each of our dishes. My favorite was the charred sweetbreads. I’m a big fan of sweetbreads and these were the best non-fried version I’ve ever eaten. Our server was very fun and added greatly to our experience.
Our server Dane was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He also seemed to genuinely love food and wine and spirits, which made the dining experience more enjoyable and interesting. The ambiance and food were top notch as well. We will definitely be back soon!
We finally got to Restaurant Alma and can't wait to return. The food was delicious and exquisitely prepared and served with style! Our server, Kylie, was pleasant, friendly, and most efficient. It was great to not be rushed but enjoy the dining experience. The entire staff works as a team and it showed. What a delight to see. Thank you all for a wonderful dining experience. Alma is one of a kind and how fortunate for us it is in Minneapolis.
Let me start off by saying, the whole experience I had at Restaurant Alma, was a notable one. The food is amazing, our server was incredible (and genuinely honest about the menu), and the ambiance is perfect. Our server guided our selections and I was grateful for that course of direction. It proved to be exactly right because our food was delicious. Each bite was flavorful and I enjoyed the experience so much that I went back two days later.
I'd recommend Restaurant Alma to anyone. It's a bit on the expensive side, but worth it, in my opinion.
The food at Alma was exceptional on this visit, perhaps the best of the at least a dozen occasions that I have eaten at the restaurant. All courses were excellent, but our favorite was actually the dessert. The hazelnut praline was one of the best desserts that I have eaten in the past few years. The service was low-key, but professional. We also REALLY appreciated the leisurely pace of the dining. Too many "in" restaurants try to rush their customers through the experience; Alma most emphatically did not. For groups of two, the seating can be a bit close to other customers, which makes the dining experience less intimate and quiet than it could be. Otherwise, everything was superb.
