The entire evening was outstanding-from the hosts to bartender to server(s) to manager
But the food was to die for---three course tasting menu,
We used to love Alma but had not been in a while so we were excited to try it again. Sadly it is not on par with the past or with many other top notch restaurants in the Twin Cities. the service was slow and awkward -- wine pairings were not delivered with food so had to sit and wait for several minutes, seemed disjointed and food not explained well. Also, the first course was brought out over the top of our starters with no room on the table. Very tacky
The appetizers were delicious but the prix fixe items were so salty they were almost all indistinguishable. Presentation nice, food not so much.
Very sad to share this as we love Alex Roberts and his restaurants normally.
The service was just ok. I had told the bartender I didn’t care for my drink I chose on the menu and he had no response to my dislike. He seemed to not care or was too distracted to offer me something I would like. Our server at dinner over sold us on food/small plates even when I told her I didn’t want to get too full by the time I got to my 3rd course. I had high expectations, but overall our experience fell short.
Alma is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis! Always a great experience.
In from San Francisco: was blown away by Alma. Most memorable dining experience I've had in a very long time. Best dishes of the night were the yellowtail crudo first course and smoked whitefish appetizer . Great waiter who took time to make us feel welcome and answer questions. Did I mention we're 2 picky diners who were in the restaurant biz for many years (1 of us a chef )? Alma is a gem.
Food was spectacular and the service matched. As good as the rest of the food was the deserts were out of this world.
First date night at Alma - fantastic experience. We had the duck and the halibut paired with a bottle of sparkling rose.
Amazing food and service!
Restaurant Alma remains our no. 1 dining spot in the Twin Cities, but as long-time customers, I was disappointed that nothing was made of our celebration that evening of my wife’s 75th birthday.
My favorite by far some of the very best food great drinks and wine this is a special restaurant highly recommend
Alma is our go-to place for a delicious meal to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. We always leave thrilled with the culinary adventure and delighted with the service.
The three-course tasting menu was both delicious and fun. It was nice to not feel rushed out of a nice place so they can flip the table an extra time. The decor and ambiance is really nice. Not overly crowded / loud like many restaurants of the same caliber.
The service was passive aggressive and basically horrible. The food was pretty good but inconsistent in seasoning and temperature - one course arrived cold. Should be better for its reputation
Fabulous meal and great service. What a surprise! Highly recommend!
Food was amazing as always. Service was not up to par. Our waitress was hesitant, felt anxious. We did not receive bread at our table while we watched bread be passed to other tables and last time we celebrated a birthday there we received a small treat but not this time.
Lovely! The quail was a highlight! Very accommodating to gluten free request.
As always, Alma was spectacular!
My wife and I went to Alma's for our anniversary and it was wonderful. We have been to the top food spots in the cities; 112 Eatery, Dakota, Butcher/Boar and this rates at the top. The 3 course meal menu is well put together and delicious. We will be going back!
Excellent food as usual. Definitely one of the best in town. The prefix menu was very good but I might choose the bar area to eat next time to avoid the prefix cost. I will always list Alma as one of my favorites.
Great service, beautiful space, lovely prix fixe menu. Perfect special night for my husband's birthday.
The food is fantastic!
Awesome food! Not overly loud and tables are spaced nicely. Not the fastest service for beverages.
This meal would have been great but on the dessert menu was a note that there is a 3% charge to pay for health care for their employees. While I whole hearted support a living wage, calling it out this way is tacky and puts the “fault” for the fee on the staff. Bad and uncouth move
We sat the bar. Cameron waited on us. He was outstanding.
Fantastic food and service
Loved the tasting menu concept as it forces me to try something that I normally wouldn’t order. Food and service were excellent! Pricing was a little high though.
Wonderful that Alma offers a vegan menu. The food was delicious and creative. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the dessert. Sorbet is possibly the most boring and unappealing winter vegan dessert I can think of, and this is the second time in a row Alma has served us sorbet. News flash: vegan desserts are AMAZING. You could even make all your desserts vegan and no one would notice.
We had a wonderful tasting menu. Each item was found to be delicious by everyone. We had the pork and the duck. Those dishes were melt in your mouth items. Carly was an outstanding server, with attention to detail and was very efficient. The atmosphere was enjoyably conducive to having a conversation, and all staff were very helpful. There was not an item that we chose from the menu that did not delight us all. Our table was very well served and satisfied and we would love to return.
Great dinner, atmosphere and service! As usual, restaurant Alma doesn't disappoint us. It was my birthday and our server did a great job offering us wine and food selections and they were all wonderful. Love that this restaurant is in our neighborhood. Can't wait to try out the breakfast cafe side - I've heard great things about that experience and food as well.
Cheers Alma team!
One of the very best restaurants in the Twin Cities for special occasion celebrations.
Lovely and quaint atmosphere. Food was delicious! Dinner took about 1.5 hours so we ran out of time for dessert b/c we had a show to catch. Spendy place so it’s perfect for a special occasion.
Outstanding food and service.
Love this restaurant! I have loved every chance I have had to go there!
Alma never disappoints! The food and atmosphere is fantastic. The service is excellent. Our fave in the cities.
Enjoyed the balcony, quiet and more intimate
Casual dining atmosphere. Perfect noise level and ideal table spacing. Food was terrific.
Once we got the cocktails things went better...
We were seated and our server showed up with water and took our drink order pretty quickly. After that we were left alone with our menus and NO drinks for 20 minutes. I really needed that cocktail and the bartender located 6 feet away was more interested in chatting up the couple at the bar than making drinks.
Outstanding food, flavorful, good portion size, unique flavors!
We were in Minneapolis for a business meeting and wanted to have a fabulous dinner the night before . We chose Alma after some “investigation.” We knew the menu was limited but the website provided it and it lived up to its reputation. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable and our meals outstanding. The next day at my meeting I highly recommended it to 3 “locals.” Looking forward to going again on our next return from Iowa.
Best restaurant in town! The food is fantastic! The wine paring is also great.
