Located in the vibrant neighbourhood of Yaletown, Minami follows the pioneering footsteps of its sister restaurant, Miku, in delivering the innovative dining experience of Aburi cuisine to Vancouver's thriving food scene. Each piece of sushi is flame-seared using a blowtorch and binchotan (oak charcoal), resulting in sushi with a smoky aroma and a melt-in-your-mouth texture.

    We had an amazing dinner at Minami! The 3 of us went with the tasting menu. Every course was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The chefs provided a great mix of classic and creative dishes. We also tried their sake flights, which paired perfectly with the meal. Great vibe and service too. Highly recommend! The photos show some of the servings we had. It’s not the complete tasting menu.

    We’ve had great experience with Minami in the past, but last night was disappointing. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu and had to check with someone else before answering our questions … Roasted veg medley was a ripe off, very poor presentation. Quality of the sashimi was good. But we don’t think we will go back soon …

    We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Minami. The food, especially the aburi sushi (ebi oshi and salmon oshi), the mushroom and halloumi salad and the seasonal vegetable salad, were outstanding. Our server was prompt and knowledgeable, and the ambience sitting on the patio was delightful and quiet. We will be back!

    This was our second time at Minami. The deal for $98 for 2 people was about $25 cheaper than the last one. The food was outstanding and our server Jason was amazing. I would highly recommend this deal and Minami.

    Aburi style sushi. Excellent if you want that style. The rolls and sashimi are all top quality. My only confusion was that when we asked for plain shoyu, they said they don’t serve it. They only have their “special” blend. How is it even possible for a Japanese restaurant to not have straight, honest shoyu!? I will say their blend is fine but if the guest wants plain……even the best steak house will serve ketchup to those who ask for it.

    spent 140$ for 13 pieces of sushi + 6 pieces of beef tataki + 1 small tomato salad + 3 pieces of fried chicken. Much smaller portion compared to few years ago.
