Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Hector Marquez

From the OpenTable editors: For a quintessentially Texan cowboy meal, head to one of Fort Worth’s most iconic restaurants. Hearty Tex-Mex plates include chicken-fried steak with cracked-pepper cream gravy and tacos stuffed with caramelized bananas and chocolate “gravy.” A pitch-perfect wine list focused on small producers makes every meal here feel like a special occasion.

As always, the food was good, as was the service. When we arrived, the waiter asked if we were celebrating anything and we let him know we were celebrating our anniversary. I don't know why he asked as it was never brought up again and nothing was given to us such as a complimentary desert. Even though the food was as good as always, we ordered the tamales which have always been a favorite, but they seemed to be much smaller than in the past. I don't know if they reduced the size instead of raising the price or if they reduced the size and raised the price. Reata is still a restaurant worth visiting.

This was a very disappointing experience. We were in FW for 1 night and had reservations at a top Dallas steak house but decided to eat in FW since we didnt want to drive all the way to Dallas. Reata had good reviews and a great menu so we decided to try it. Only the 8:30pm reservation for 3 was open so we took it. I asked when we got there if there would be good cuts of meat left at that time and was assured YES. We got 2 ribeyes and 1 tenderloin. The steaks were cooked exactly how we asked so no issue yet. The tenderloin though was VERY tough and my wife couldnt eat part of it and it was not very good. The ribeyes were so fatty that there was very little edible meat on one and the other was just not very tasty and had fat knobs though much of it. I feel they were all inferior cuts of meat that most people wouldnt like. So the food was a HUGE dissapointment although it was a nice eve to be outside so the ambiance and service were great. I will NEVER eat there again or tell anyone to eat there. I am so so so disappointed. I just didnt have it in me to complain as I was enjoying the ambiance and my family.... and the meal was nearly $300.

The menu and reviews were what drew me to Reata, and the food was delicious! However, the ambiance was lacking, and although we were there in early evening and the restaurant was empty, the table they gave us was right by the kitchen door. Overall, the dining room felt like a tired hotel ball room unfortunately. The service was good and the bar area definitely had a better feel than the dining room.

Our server was not friendly. She was cold and didn’t pay attention to our table well. Waters weren’t refilled and she kept disappearing.

A classic Fort Worth destination. I’ve been to the last locations and this one continues the tradition. The menu is great, as it always has been. Wait staff was excellent too.

Our server Aldo was great. Attentive without being a nuisance. The gentleman who presented the desert tray did so in an award winning manner. I recommend the pork chop.
