The menu hasn’t changed in the 5 years we have lived ton the area. Other than the fried chicken and bread basket nothing is exceptional. The service and staff are lovely.

Unfortunately went here for Sunday Easter Brunch. The whole experience was just off and a major disappointment from previous visits to South City. Ended of spending $187 on 3 cups of crab soup, 4 pieces of Gouda bites, 2 plates of trout with some asparagus and corn succotash, and one pork chop plate with a glaze that was inedible. Oh and we had 3 glasses of water. The cornbread muffins were the best thing in the meal but not worth almost $200. Update 4/24: Kudos to Sarah the manager for reaching out to discuss our experience. She seemed genuinely caring about wanting to understand what happened and how she could improve for the future for all customers. I appreciate her response and we will give them another shot in the future. I should also say that I have been to this location many times since first trying it in October 2010 when a job recruiter took me to dinner and this was the first time we had such a negative experience.

We went for the Easter Brunch and we were seated immediately. The chairs were loose and slid too easily on the floor; my dad is older and I was worried about stability for him getting up and down. They seemed short staffed, our server took a while to get us started and our drinks and courses took longer than normal to arrive. The drinks were good and they had some interesting options. The selection for the Easter brunch played to their upgraded Southern cuisine and we all had no problem deciding what we wanted. The quality of the food was great. Everyone got something different and we all cleaned our plates! Some stand outs were the she-crab soup and the cheese fritters for the appetizer and the friend chicken and French toast for the main entree. My 7 yo wanted more basic options and they were able to accommodate her and didn’t charge us for the full price of the kid’s brunch ($22) which I appreciated since she got eggs and grits. The restaurant is loud which make it hard to have a conversation and ruined the intimacy of a family meal. The noise level would keep me from returning in the future.
