Food was close to awful. If it wasn’t for the ambiance, my tourists would have been super disappointment. We had to go get food elsewhere after.

The clam chowder was yummy but barely warm. We ate it anyway but told the waitress upon her return. She offered to give us each a new cup of”on the house,” but any more would have been too filling. I had the fried shrimp … only average. It tasted like the frozen fried shrimp I purchased from my local market in my home town. My husband had the baked scrod, which was much better. Go for the ambience … the food was just average and somewhat pricey.

Mostly a good experience, except my $57 baked 1 1/4# lobster was dry and overcooked. It's a shame with an institution so well known to produce such a poor signature dish.

Our group of two enjoyed a nice dinner at the Union Oyster House. Our server, Janet, was quick to please and helpful. We had a collection of oysters, clam chowder, and whole lobster. All were excellent. Thx.
