Osteria Cotta was opened in march of 2011 by brothers Sergio and Mario Riva and their partner Aj Bontempo. It is an Italian restaurant and wine bar serving rustic Italian food in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The restaurant is composed of 4 separate areas, The lively Bar on the main floor, the rustic dining room upstairs, the intimate living room behind the dining room and the vibrant outside cafe.

The menu offers a variety of popular Italian staples including antipasti, salumi, cheeses, salads, pastas and entrees and artisanal pizza from their Imported Wood Burning Oven. A few of the signature dishes include a wood fired roasted free range chicken, a house made pappardelle with braised pork ragu and a nutella, ricotta and walnut calzone .

We just ordered two pizzas and a side vegetable. Let me preface this by saying we make our own pizzas at home with a stone in the oven. We asked for thin and crisp. They promised thin and crisp. The pizzas came thinnish and soggy. And there wasn't much topping on either to speak of. Went there as we were just being lazy and wanted, after a day out, not to have to roll dough and cook. Vegetables did come with little salt as requested but were just luke warm. We wanted a break from cooking but once again were reminded that for eating: There's No Place LIke Home.

Came to Cotta for brunch to celebrate a friend's 100 mile race - and we could not have been treated better!!! Steve and Saxon took the best care of us, and the food was beyond delicious. Amazing brunch specials and drinks too!! Such a pleasant, lovely atmosphere and great service. I recommend Cotta to all!

This upper west side restaurant is the perfect meeting place for friends. Great bar and ambiance - the pasta melts in your mouth.

This is a lovely restaurant. The waitress and all staff were very welcoming and professional. Food was very good. We ate here before going to Shakespeare-in-the -Park. Perfect for that occasion.

Although we had a reservation, we ended up leaving to go to another restaurant because there weren't any tables available in the air conditioned section. It was disappointing to find out that more than half of their seating is NOT air conditioned or windows for air circulation, making it very uncomfortable during hot NYC summers. I wish they had at least informed us of this ahead of time.

This was a lovely find, close to Shakespeare in the Park. Enjoyed a delicious dinner on the sidewalk, that was very reasonably priced. The service was excellent, and they were very cooperative. I would recommend it for an event in the area, such as Shakespeare in the Park>

Service was very slow. The place was extremely hot. We asked our waitress on numerous occasions to make it cooler but it didn't happen.
