Went to Toro Toro for my birthday dinner. My date and I were sat in a moody booth with a great view of the kitchen. Our server, Kira (?), was friendly and helpful and gave us some suggestions. We started with the swordfish dip and ceviche. If you have to pick between one, absolutely get the ceviche...it reminded me of my trips to CDMX and coastal towns of Mexico with incredible ceviche. We started with cocktails, which were delicious. I got mezcal, wish they had a better selection of mezcal but that's just me being picky. For our main meal, we got the Brussel sprouts, potatoes 3 ways, and the mini-tomahawk cooked medium-rare. There was nothing mini about it...it was just the right amount for 2 people. Kira brought out the tomahawk and seared it in front of us with mezcal then brushed it with rosemary and butter. We split a bottle of Malbec (I think it was from Argentina, can't remember) for the meal which I highly recommend instead of more cocktails. This was easily one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The meat was perfectly cooked, juicy, and the chimichurri that came with it was so good. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday meal. All the vibes were great and the decor is beautiful....I would describe it as Texas Brutalist. Would love to come again to continue celebrating the beauty of sharing a delicious meal.

Service was great. Staff was everything it should be and then some. We felt extremely welcomed and cared for. The seating was odd and uncomfortable. I understand not everyone is going to be comfortable with the seating arrangements not a big issue for me. The food was not great. It was sub par at best. The steak as dry and lacked flavor. I would not recommend this as a place visit especially since this is supposed to be a steak house.

Service was typical of a hotel restaurant. Ordered a bottle of sparkling water from the beginning, Had to ask for it a couple times. Finished my drink cocktail and ordered another, brought the wrong one and had to reorder. Brought out our steaks and sides, but didn’t bring any silverware, had to flag someone down after a few minutes. Ceviche was delicious. Sides were delicious. Steaks were average. For “prime” grade steaks, ours were cooked as we requested (medium rare on the filet, medium rare on the picanha) but they weren’t tender. Premium prices and I just don’t think our experience hit the premium mark. I didn’t complain, wasn’t difficult, tipped over 20% and acknowledge things aren’t always on point 100% of the time, but the place was empty and the folks near us had to wait on things as well, to the point strangers were comfortable sharing similar disappointment.

Our reservation was for 1:30 but we arrived closer to 1. It was pretty much empty so noise was not an issue. The restaurants ambience is great. The food is so tasty! Even tho it was close to closing time, they didn’t rush us and we were able to enjoy our meal to its fullest. Alex was amazing server. Attentive and kind. every dish was busting with flavor. We will definitely be back.
