Black’s never disappoints! We enjoyed a lovely al fresco dinner on their shaded terrace and started with the mussels appetizer—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Black’s is known for their seafood, and they certainly live up to the reputation. I couldn’t resist the scallops, which were seared to perfection, while my friends ordered the branzino and the chicken sandwich. Branzino is sometimes served as a small filet, but not here—Black’s offers a generous, beautifully prepared portion that was absolutely delicious. Our server, Ryan, was attentive, friendly, and full of helpful menu suggestions, making the experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates great seafood and a welcoming atmosphere!

Went to Black’s last night with my boyfriend. We ordered the arugula salad, the scallops and the ribeye to share. The salad was delicious, and the wait staff was kind enough to find out what the dressing was for me since I liked it so much. The scallops were fantastic, and I loved the rainbow chard and mashed potatoes with it. The ribeye, on the other hand, was terrible. It may have been the worst steak I’ve ever had. It was a super thin cut, and completely fatty and gristly. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but it came out between rare and medium rare. I would have sent it back because it was so bad, but my boyfriend hates sending stuff back, so I just ate the scallops and salad. It’s sad that Blacks would serve such a poor cut of meat, and charge $50 for it.

Better than the other Black's restaurants-- and much less expensive! I have been to Black's Bethesda four times recently, and I have enjoyed each time. Amazing that steaks and burgers are perfectly cooked and very tasty - and their seafood is excellent too. I have loved the hanger steak, the burger, and last night, a fabulous ribeye. My wife had branzino, and our friends had the scallops and the tuna sopa. They each loved their items. Califlower appetizer and duck tacos were a delight, and my apple tart was delicious -- although I could have used a bigger scoop of ice cream with it, We will be returning soon. Oh one thing -- the parking lot next door has gotten tricky, being automated. Be sure to pay for extra time -- we paid but still got a ticket when we overstayed by about 3 minutes.

Reliable. Menu does not change - at least not in the last year. Every now and then there is a good special, like last evening we had the soft shell crabs which were nice size and well prepared. Atmosphere is a bit dark and dreary inside the dining room - perhaps better lighting or brighter decor to help liven it up a bit?

We went back to this place having enjoyed it many years ago. This time we were not impressed. The atmosphere is still on point, let’s be clear about that. Food was hit and miss. The cocktails- just ok, nothing special. The hot food was hot. Oysters were great but many on the menu were sold out. The branzino had great flavors but the skin on was soggy. The falafel was overcooked and on the dry side. The broccolini was awesome though. The poke was disappointing. It was presented beautifully but All the components were separated and hard to eat together cause of the cuts. It was missing sea weed (a key poke component) and the sauce tasted like thousand island dressing instead of a sauce with umami Asian flavors. The service was good but not outstanding. They put in a sneaky 4% feet for using your credit card - something you expect at a bodega but not a high end restaurant. Also, i don’t think they read any special requests when you put them in your reservation - front receptionist was unaware of ours.

What a great team! We went for ours kids' Adoption Day celebration in a sea of others celebrating Mother's Day. Cheers to everyone! Our server Marco was attentive, and Colin, the manager made sure this was a special day.
