Opened in 2007, Clyde Common is a diversely influenced, comfort-food focused restaurant paired with an award-winning bar program in the heart of downtown Portland, OR.

The energizing and open space features large windows looking out onto Harvey Milk Street. The bar program is run by cocktail master Jeffrey Morgenthaler (The Bar Book, Drinking Distilled), who has made Clyde Common a destination bar for travelers and Portland natives alike. Executive Chef Clayton Allen and team take notes from European and American traditions, creating menus focused on pristine ingredients grown and foraged in the Pacific Northwest.

Located inside the Ace Hotel in the heart of downtown Portland, Clyde Common is a popular destination for Happy Hour specials as well as late night meals. Diners praise the taverns friendly ambiance, comfortable seating and varying menu items. Clyde Common is open for dinner all through the week.

Such a great restaurant located in downtown Portland. I had a fantastic gin cocktail, enjoy a glass of wine from a nice selection, and CANNOT stop thinking about how wonderful the Braised Lamb Shank I selected as an entree was. Excellent service. Wonderful vibe.

Great service but the food wasn’t anything to write home about. The portions were quite small. I ordered a starter, main, and a couple drinks but still left a little hungry which rarely happens. The cheese board came with 4 small crackers total and the lamb shank was 90% bone with very little meat.

The space is cool, and the cocktails are very good. The staff is friendly. We were able to get a reservation on the Saturday after Valentine’s Day, which was great. It’s very loud, and I had trouble hearing our server. They brought the wrong drink at first. I had to use the bathroom, and the hostess came out just before I went in, and there was no TP in the dispenser. I got the orecchiette, and it was wayyyy over salted. My husband had the plank trout, which was good, and the green salad was also good. Overall, not bad, but also not worth paying a babysitter for.
