Great place to go before a show. Food is excellent, service prompt. Arrived with plenty of time to enjoy our food and get to where we needed to be. We’ll be back!

We come here any time we attend an event at DeVos, which, fortunately, is fairly often. What a treat! The server's are exceptional - friendly and helpful with great suggestions. You get the sense that your having a wonderful experience is their most important goal. The potato leek soup was outstanding - loved the "potato croutons" in it instead of bread croutons. It is the attention to detail like that that make this such a great place. The pork chop was also excellent - love the cabbage/mustard seed/bacon that accompanies it, and my husband loved the cioppino - of course, he had to order some pork fat fries. They are wonderful, esp. with the homemade mayo. Wonderful wines, of course...love this place!

I love the downtown feel of this restaurant, there are several seating options, booths, tables, and high tops. Our waiter Greg was outstanding! He made an excellent wine recommendation based on my and daughter's wine preferences. He was attentive but not obtrusive, he had an easy going but had a very knowledgable manner. We were going to the symphony that evening and he made sure we had enough time to eat, relax and enjoy. The food was excellent, we had the Citrus Salad with the addition of chicken and the Chicken and dumplings as our entrees. Dessert was a glass of port.

Small but very appealing menu, and the food was excellent. Good portion sizes: enough to satiate but not so much that you need a doggie bag. Great wine selection. Excellent service without being intrusive. About the only criticism is that we were seated at the long high-top tables in the middle which meant that we had neighbors on either side "sharing" the table, and it is difficult to have conversation with the noise and unavoidable eavesdropping. Other than that, it was a great dining experience.

Really really bad service. I had to flag down our waiter every time we wanted anything. We sat for 20-25 minutes with our drinks and had to ask another server to take our food order. Had to ask another waiter for a dessert menu and also for our check. This was after we had told him we were going to a show (ie we needed to eat a timely dinner) Always love the atmosphere.

I thought the atmosphere was great once we walked in the door. The service was also top notch with multiple people helping out with drinks or just getting our empty plates out of the way. There wasn’t a long wait for food either and we went on Valentines Day weekend on Saturday night. Definitely somewhere I would go to again.

I would have rated the experience a 5, however, I was really disappointed that nothing special was done for my two boys for their birthdays! I indicated on the reservation that it was a special occasion. All the waiter did was say, "Happy Birthday"--no special small dessert, no special beverage offered, no free appetizer--nothing. Why indicate anything on the reservation if the restaurant is not going to do anything??

This was our first time dining with reserve Wane and Food. We were expecting more of a wine bar experience that also served good food. It seemed to us it was more of a restaurant with a decent but not special wine selection. We asked about doing a flight of wine tasting and were told they didn't really do that and that a glass of wine was a much better value. We chose food off the menu and didn't agree with the recommended wine choice to go with it so ordered our own preference. Not what we were expecting so probably won't be going back. Other good wine bars in Grand Rapids that we would try instead.

Our service was just mediocre as we had a long wait between our appetizers and ordering our main meals.
Also, when we asked for bread, it never came until we asked again, and then it was just a few crostinis.
Good bread can make or break a restaurant to us...and this was not good bread.

Let me start by saying, overall a great experience!

A few areas of improvement;
Would love the waiter to explain highlights of the menu, differences between the small plates, appetizers, how many of each he recommends...I dined with new guests and they wanted more guidance on the menu than was offered.

Food was delicious!!!! Please never take the squash stuffed pasta with sage off the menu. It’s amazing! The pasta here has improved a lot since last time I dined here (caico e peppe was not over cooked and flavorless- it was al dente and flavorful!!) Wine pours are smaller than they should be considering the markup and price. Also, the ‘tasting’ charge is ridiculous. You know a large table is going to spend hundreds on wine throughout the night, if they ask for a taste of a wine (that you serve by the glass) before ordering it, DO NOT CHARGE THEM for it! You are a wine bar!

Also, the ambiance is a bit cold, would love to see dimmer lighting, candles at tables, a few small touches could really help this spot out from an ambiance standpoint.

Just a few improvements could take it from great to extraordinary!

We had a reservation at 6pm (arrived on time) prior to the musical at Devos. Ordered an appetizer (Pork fat fries) which didn't show up until 6.58 We had told our waiter we didn't want our meal to arrive on top of appetizer. Obviously our dinner showed up at 5 min. later. We had to rush to finish it and get to the 7:30 show time. His explanation was it's busy and your appetizer takes a long time. Ordered the same thing one other time and time wasn't an issue. Feel like we can't return when we are attending a show at Devos. Very disappointed in our service on this visit. Food was delicious just wish we could have enjoyed it.

The downtown location is convenient for hotel guests, however the ambiance didn’t quite fit a wine bar as it was very brightly lit, service was mediocre at best, and the food was disappointing. The white fish was dry and bland, and the lamb was extremely fatty.
