Republique Ratings and Reviews
Was able to get a reservation on the day for a special meal for me and my wife (which was quite unexpected), and apart from a bit of a wait, which we knew was gonna happen, since the lines at Republique are well-known, everything at the restaurant was terrific. Marvelous attentive wait staff, delicious food, and as I noted that it was an anniversary dinner in making the reservation, we were given a great table upstairs in the library, where it was quieter. Lovely atmosphere. Did I mention the food is top notch? It's not an inexpensive meal, but it's absolutely worth it... and that's ultimately what counts, I think.
On Valentine Day 6pm reservation was very nice! Not even crowded and normal menu (not prefix menu). Everything tasty and service great. My date wanted soup and they don’t have some simple vegetable soup puree, and no onion soup, which I love (and they call themselves French restaurant Haha)
And! The only thing which missing is music! To creat French relaxing atmosphere so you feel yourself in Paris again :-) Just type “French chanson” on Spotify and it’s there! Or type “Emmanuel French song” on YouTube Red so it started play “Emmanuel” Pierre Bachelet and just go from there. So easy! Why not to do it????
The music is really missing
Made reservations weeks in advance for a pre V-Day celebration. Made a special request which wasn’t honored. We got to sit next to a toddler with a cell phone on full blast and watching Chinese cartoons. The food was eh. Everything I ate was bitter. EVERYTHING. I kept expecting a change in texture and flavor but it was all the same. I’m a trained cook, I have been a cook for 25 plus years. Truffles were lost in the dishes. It was just the same all the way through. No ups, no downs. For the price I paid, I’d expect more. Not returning for sure.
Hamachi and octopus were amazing! As a group of 5, we shared many small plates and we all found each one to be absolutely delicious. The wine list is excellent as well. We were late for our table due to crazy traffic and the staff were so kind to hold it for us. Our server patiently described each menu item and was very conscientious about food allergies. Will definitely go back!
The table at corner near bar section was not impressed though, food are awesome as always, loving new menu, the server was excellent as well, unfortunately our table was under the speaker that punk songs were a little too loud, hardly to hear what people are talking...
The food was incredible, nothing to complain about there. We had a reservation and still had to wait 20-30min and they sat us near the front which is NOT where you want to be seated. There was a draft and it was cold and you miss out on the action of the restaurant. The service was fine, but definitely not something to praise them for. The waitress wasn't great and we could tell we weren't a priority customer and she really just wanted to get our order out of the way.
I'd come back strictly for the Normandy butter and hot bread :)
I have been to this resturant about a dozen times. This was the worst experience yet. My service took forever to order and my steak came out about an hour after I ordered it. The room was extremely noisy and I sat on stools with no backs for two hours. They put me next to the bar and I had two kids with me. You would think that could have accommodated us at another table given we had children and that there were empty tables in the resturant. At the prices they charge and give this level of service they need to really take a second look at how they are running their operation.
While everything is nearly perfect, the loise level is begond "Energetic." It is downright deafening. I could hardly hear my wife talking to me across the table. The only blemish on an otherwise memorable dining experience. However, the noise level is just fine for all those beautiful millenials. That is why I'm certain you'll do nothing to change that.
See you next time!
The food is amazing - and I loved that our waiter never made my friends and I feel rushed. We lingered over dinner and dessert, and had a lovely time. Every thing we ate was delicious and interesting - the bread and butter is outstanding too - don't skip that! It's a lovely space and well worth the money to dine here.
Food was delicious, but we had a conflict over the bill. We loved the food, but would be hard-pressed to return because we felt that the mistake should’ve been covered by the restaurant. We didn’t raise a stink, we were very polite about the misunderstanding, but the staff did nothing to correct the error. It’s too bad.
Our family loves this restaurant and we always have a great time. The entire staff is friendly, professional and welcoming, however service can be very slow. We were at the restaurant for 40 minutes before a drink order was taken and the wait time between courses is excessively long. The food and drinks are terrific though, and we would dine here more frequently is the wait times weren’t so interminable.
Was glad to be seated in the back, where it is quieter. The chicken was sensational, better than the last time. However, the cod appetizer portion was a joke. It was delicious but only enough for 1 bite. The hazenut ice cream was perhaps the best I've tasted. Really think it is rude to charge for bread and butter, especially when we waited almost an hour for the chicken to be served. No one came over to say it would be delayed or that it was coming soon. Had to ask.
We took extra measures to request a particular table weeks prior to our arrival for our daughter’s birthday . We even waited past our reservation time because of this particular table. They end up seating us in a completely different area. Two individuals from our party received their food AFTER we all done eating. We were given gift cards and dessert for our “inconvenience”. We have been going to Republique for years, up to 2 times a week for a while. I can honestly will say I was beyond disappointed with our experience, we will not be going back.
Food was uneven. When it was on- it was amazing. Order the egg on toast with uni (very small portion but worth it) and whatever spaghetti and seafood dish is on for the night. Best to go with a number of people to share as many different dishes as possible. When it was off- it was just average. For us it was the rock-cod that was overcooked and in a dish lacking flavor or interest. Not bad but not excellent.
Service was not good on our visit. From trouble at the front seating different parties, to a waiter who seemed more interested in moving us along than helping us choose a good menu (and bringing starter oysters out mid-meal), and finally a sommelier who just didn't care.
The space itself is amazing. Boisterous, fun and beautiful- it's a great place.
