République, located in mid-city, is owned by Chef Walter Manzke and Chef Margarita Manzke. Centered in the heart of Los Angeles, the classic building in which it resides was originally erected in 1929 by Charlie Chaplin, and later transformed into the iconic La Brea Bakery and Campanile Restaurant. République builds on this storied past, offering a gastronomic environment imbued with history and grandeur. The space features a casual bar and bistro in the front with a more formal dining area located in the rear, serving a French-inspired menu created daily by our Chefs.

Delicious!

The lobster/pasta dish with the shaved truffles was amazing!!

The short rib was amazing as well!!

Off the charts yummy, it's our favorite restaurant to hit whenever we're in LA.

the baguette and butter as usual were fantastic. We enjoyed the heirloom tomatoes and kanpachi for our appetizers. The Dover sole was stellar with the potatoes. ARUGULA CASARECCE needed to be cooked a tad more and I recognized that the pasta is cooked al dente. Service was not as attentive as before. I had to ask the busboy to provide clean plates. We would go back

One of the best spots in town, thanks to highly detailed cuisine based on supremely fresh ingredients. The Wine Spectator-award winning list is deep in Burgundy primarily but has excellent breadth. Service is thoroughly professional.

This has to be one of the best tasting experiences I have ever had. Each course did not disappoint, in fact each dish, of which we ordered several, did not disappoint. We tried about 45% of the menu including all of their cheeses, several appetizers, the sole and the duck. The flavor palette was splendid with quality ingredients used all around.

Flagging waitstaff down was a bit difficult at time however this was of little consequence next to the food itself.

While there is no doubt they used quality ingredients along with a quality preparation method, devised by a quality chef, an experience such as this would run about 20% cheeper in an ideal world.

The appetizer was good, the chicken was ok, I believe the waiter did his best but the waiting time to be served was horrible plus the parking lot where our table was located was not nice enough as the inside, I did not feel I was at Republique seated on the parking lot (just fyi: the inside was more than half empty, maybe waiting for their preferable clients). We were served with the first round of drinks 45 minutes after we ordered them and we had our entrees 2 hours after we ordered them. Finally, we had to wait more than 40 minutes for a simple desert. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Service & food were good, but not every restaurant needs to run, and apply tapas on customers in order to make more money.

First and foremost we come for the food, which as always, was world class. The service was impeccable too. We were a little dismayed by the layout and execution of the outdoor seating. Very little effort has been applied. We have been to lesser restaurants that have really knocked it out of the park with parking lot conversions. We paid $480 for our meal at Republique. The actual physical ambience was not up to par for that price point. Put some plants in there. Hang some wall art.

An outstanding meal from start to finish. Every course had a wow factor. The almond brown butter cake was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. I look forward to the next visit.

Overall a great place to have dinner, the food was amazing with good flavor, both the duck confit and short rib melted in your mouth. The service was fine nothing that blew us away and ambiance was good in outdoor patio area, expect for that occasional waft of sulfur every now and then not sure where it was coming from. The tiramisu was very disappointing I would call it more of a pudding.. There was no element of what you expect a tiramisu to be, just custard, strawberries and the tinniest piece of cake on the bottom, we were not impress to say the less with this version of the dessert. However with that said i would definitely go back inside this time and most certainly choose another dessert.

Such a lovely ambiance and location. Food unbelievably fresh and thoughtful. Deep flavors layered into most dishes. Special shout out for the kanpachi crudo, tomato salad, tuna tartare, short rib a d cod.

Best meal and experience in LA during week long stay. Had loved the former Campanile so had a lot to live up to. From warm front reception, service, ambiance and most importantly the fantastic flavors and variety of the food Republique exceeded already high expectations!

This is our favorite place for celebrations. The food is consistently excellent as is the service. The roast chicken, which varies in preparation, is always moist and delicious. The duck was perfectly prepared and the strawberry tiramisu was as delectable as it was beautiful and puts traditional tiramisus to shame. Highly recommend.

I’m going to give this place a 5 only because the food was bomb and this place was really aesthetically pleasing. Our overall experience was very nice but one of the waiters was a little pushy trying to get us to order more food. The food we ordered we didn’t even finish and the fact that he told us it was only going to be a little bit of food was a lie. This waiter was also a little mean/rude to the other staff which was annoying.

Had a delightful meal from beginning to end. Our waitress, Chelsea, was fabulous, as was our sommelier, Daniel. We did patio seating and were very comfortable. Would return for dinner any time and definitely for a special celebration. Highly recommend the Strawberry Tiramisu, all the pastas and the Garden of Baby Lettuces.

The baguette with pan drippings was insanely good. All the food was fantastic. Service was perfect. Just wish the lights in the bakery area by the front door would be turned down or off (or perhaps curtains pulled between the rooms?) when it gets dark. The beautiful architecture would look even better and it would make it much more cozy and inviting. As it is, they were distracting and made the atmosphere feel a bit medical. But other than that, everything was perfection!

This was our first dining experience at Republique since before the pandemic and nothing has changed: the food is excellent and the service still inattentive and uneven. The Dover sole and mousseline potatoes's perfection was taken down several notches by waiters who had to be waved down, one of whom snatched away a plate of oysters before we had finished eating. As great as the food was, all the amuse bouche in the world can't make up for bad service. One bright spot: the sommelier Erasmus, who made a difficult pairing by recommending one of the most unusual whites we've ever had.
