Best restaurant in LA. Hands down.
Insanity on a plate. Loved this place
The food at Republique was fantastic. Rich to be sure, but inventive and utterly delicious. I look forward to returning soon.
Memorable, inventive and always beyond delicious!
First time dining at Republique. We ordered the smoked salmon eclairs, crudo, yams, salmon, and spinach cavatelli, along with butter for the baguette. The eclairs were really delightful - just enough of a pop of the smoked salmon to balance the eclair itself. They went well with the complimentary potato leek soup starter. The yams were a special treat - very creamy inside and carmelized on the outside, with two different kinds of yams. The preparation was perfect. The biggest surprise to us was the cavatelli. We were amazed at the richness of the brown butter blended with the mushrooms and pasta. Overall, we were so pleased with the food.
The two things that stand out, besides the delicious food ( fresh pasta with fresh porcini) are the super waitstaff (attentive to my lactose intolerance issue, excellent wine suggestion etc, great fun and energy) and the wine bargain. The Italian red at $18--fabulous.
The food and wine was absolutely amazing. Our server was wonderful and really enhanced our experience. I wish I could remember his name.
Thank you so much for letting us know about your recent visit with us! I am very happy to hear that you loved your dinner. I will certainly let Curtis, your server, know how much you enjoyed his service. He is an incredibly valuable member of our team and as he takes pride and genuinely cares about his work and goes above and beyond to create the perfect experience for every single one of his guests. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Sincerely, Mariah Manager
Our sever, Adrienne was wonderful- sound was lively but not oppressive; waitstaff very attentive and kept my water full at all times
The food and drinks are tasty — the breadsticks alone are worth a visit. The service staff is warm and attentive.
Republique is a great place for sharing tasty dishes with you friends at a communal table or private wooden table while sitting on wooden school chairs assuming you’re comfortable spending roughly $100+ per person (food and alcohol) to dine in a loud environment with relatively uncomfortable seating.
Top 5 restaurant experiences in our lifetimes. Food extraordinary. And the expense much less than other world class eateries.
Overall, solid experience. We asked the Chef to create our experience and were glad we did. Accustomed to fine dining and tasting menus, this compared, but did not exceed our expectations. The Pork Belly was amazing while the scallop salad fell short in our opinion. Would recommend and will revisit with the tasting menu again.
Although service was perfectly fine, the food was absolutely awful and grossly overpriced.
My tastebuds love every moment of the dining experience each time I come, and the service from everyone is perfect. It’s a loud restaurant, but it’s beautiful and if you sit in the back it’s more quiet and the taste of the food more than makes up for the noise. Have the octopus appetizer, I can’t get enough of it. Republique does everything right.
Republique continues to hit it out of the park with delicious food and fantastic service.
The food was delicious. We order the roasted chicken that is half of the chicken with baked potatoes and garden salad with beef tartar. A little bit pricey.
Excellent as always!!! This was the third year my we have been there for my mothers birthday, never a disappointment. My only note would be it is quite loud so large parties are hard to make conversation that all can hear. Would recommend highly!!
One of the best wine lists in LA -- the food is always outstanding.
Amazing food, beautiful ambiance. Katy was a SUPERIOR server!
One of our top restaurants. I highly recommend this for groups.
Always one of the best in LA and never pretentious
We had a wonderful meal the building decor and beautiful and historic. The bread is freshly baked and it is as you would have traveled to France to have a baguette
Republique is a beautiful restaurant on many levels. The building, an old, soaring former bell tower, is gorgeous. The food is exquisite, and the service outstanding. The upstairs section is quieter. We were seated in the bar area, which is too noisy for conversation, and said that we would wait for upstairs. They were able to seat us in a quieter area downstairs. An amuse bouche of earthy mushroom soup with a splash of 30-year-old balsamic arrived in short order. It's the kind of thing you take a sip of and savor. We also asked for bread and butter right away. My husband consumed a loaf himself, it's that good. We ordered moderately, though there was so much on the menu that looked good. Brussels sprouts with pancetta and a poached egg arrived and our daughter did the honors of mixing the egg in. We delighted in our entrees, duck breast with apple and onion and a soothing porridge, Channel Island rock cod, with mushrooms that soaked up the elixir they were simmered in, and butternut squash agnolotti, which burst, creamy and sweet, in the mouth. Everything was cooked and seasoned just right. Our daughter likes to try new things, so she and I shared an il flottante for dessert. I'd had one in Paris that was a really sweet meringue in a puddle of sweet caramel, so I was apprehensive, but our lovely waitress assured us that none of their desserts are too sweet. It was like eating a delicate flower and fruit topped cloud in vanilla sauce. Republique is truly a fine dining experience, one I'd highly recommend. For us, it's a place for special days, such as anniversaries and birthdays.
I cannot say enough about the food and the service in this restaurant. Our recent experience at Republique was our first, and having a little guidance with the menu was key. The staff was very friendly, professional and helpful and they kept us from over-ordering (which is easy to do). The wine steward really discussed our taste with us before suggesting a nice Burgundy which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We had oysters, the Kanpachi Crudo (it has a Thai curry type sauce, which was amazing), the small Little Gem salad which was good (but could have used an accent ingredient), the white truffle risotto ( so good; I will never again bother with black truffles) and the quail, which had a delicious and innovative set up; very seasonal. We split all the dishes between us and were completely sated.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who cares about food. We will return and bring friends, the next time we are in LA.
Excellent food and service. Sommelier was very helpful. Sat in the kitchen next to the warm bread ovens. A bit pricey.
We had to ask to move to a more private table because we didn’t feel like sharing my husband’s birthday with everyone at a communal table. But once we sat down at a two-top, it was instantly amazing service. From the guy who pours water to the main server, everyone was attentive but not annoying. Class all around. The food was the best food we’ve ever had. Every dish was the perfect blend of acid, heat, salt, and fat. So tasty, perfectly seasoned. Yum yum yum.
Food and service were incredibly fantastic. On pricey side, but would definitely come back.
Waiter Anthony is outstanding.
We always have a great time at République! The seasonal menu always offers something delicious, and the mainstays are fantastic, too. We ordered the Mary’s chicken, a gem lettuce salad, and a tare-glazed short rib. The chicken was incredibly flavorful and moist, and it came with a side of potatoes that is incredible. For dessert, we ordered a Fuji apple tarte tatin lightly sprinkled with comté cheese, which was also very good. As always, the service was excellent, from the manager down to the bust boys; everyone was attentive and very welcoming. My only recommendation would be to try to dine earlier than 8 pm, when the restaurant gets supremely busy and the service may be a little wanting. Street parking is available though hard to find, and valet parking is available at the small, open lot adjacent to the restaurant.
One of the best dinners i've had ever. Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles.
The service is impeccable and the staff is warm and friendly.
Perfectly crafted, delicious and innovative seasonal dishes.
We have dined at Republique a few times. This was our worst experience. Entrees took a long time to come out. We complained that the short-ribs were excessively fatty. A manager spoke to us, and gave us some free cookies for the inconvenience. Considering, the short-rib dish was $45, we expected it it to be more spectacular. It wasn't. A teeny portion -- with at least 30% of it fat. The rest of the entrees were good. But this restaurant is starting to feel way too over-priced and over-hyped. To be fair, their gin and tonic cocktail is still the best G&T in town.
Dinner for two, seated at a very small table.
Barely enough room for the ribeye and two plates.
Food and service were amazing as usual.
I feel this place is too large to have really great service, which is too bad, because the food was very good. Poor service. Don't need to go back.
They took off all the classic French meals. Disappointed
I had never been to Republique, and despite good reviews, I did not know what to expect. It was my girlfriends birthday and I wanted her to feel special. Republique was better than I hoped for. Though the environment seemed casual,It was sophisticated and very comfortable. All the food that we sampled was excellent, and our server was very helpful when we ordered. I will definitely be back, and definitely recommend the restaurant others.
And yes, my girlfriend enjoyed it thoroughly, and did feel special.
Very high quality ingredients, creative cooking with Asian influence. For some dishes, it may need a bit more “accent”
Great ambiance with incredible food. The staff was friendly and very much attentive
Alicia and Michael made our experience, Thanks guys! Food was great, drinks were even better! Looking forward to coming back. If you get a chance to stop by ask for one of the two!
Went for my girlfriends birthday and we both loved it! delicious food and great selection of wine. The food is pricey but worth it definitely! 5/5 for me
It was a treat! The Dover sole was exceptionall. We were upstairs which was a little quieter than the more bustling front of the restaurant. We’ll go back!
It’s noisy, it is hard to hear your conversation partner or what the staff is saying and the food is extremely overpriced and honestly not that great for the money. A few tiny pieces of pork belly (small appetizer size) 45 dollars; phew. A plate of meat 280 dollars. Won’t be going back.
