Republic of Texas Bar & Grill
Very nice ambiance and great service. Appetizers were delicious. Entrees were mediocre and overpriced. A la carte sides were undercooked and ridiculously priced. Not sure if we will return.
Let me begin by saying that our server and her assistant were outstanding. They were very attentive; our glasses never ran empty. The views are spectacular as always. Also the host staff was able to accommodate us at a larger table. And my wife and I's personal course, the Chateaubriand was savory and delicious, impressive.
Now for were I recommend to ROT that they can improve: 1) I've always known Republic of Texas to be an upscale restaurant, but the temporary paper menus printed from an office printer did not rise to my expectations of this fine establishment. At the very least they should be printed on better quality paper. 2) The shrimp and broccoli were under cooked and since we were very hungry we didn't bothered sending it back and my parents shared a plate instead. 3) There is a large round table placed directly in front of the balcony door which makes it uncomfortable when going outside for pictures. Not sure if this was pleasurable to the guests at that table with other guests brushing past them. 4) Our guest ordered a whiskey in a glass the bartender failed to inspect. We found a bug or something in it. We did send it back and it was replaced. 5) I didn't hear any music. There used to be a pianist before. 6) On Open Table I clicked the drop down menu indicating "Anniversary," it was our 1st, but that little detail got lost in the sauce.
Final Thoughts: Overall, despite the short comings listed above, we had a very enjoyable experience and look forward to dining at the Republic of Texas again. Kudos again to the server staff and to Chuck the Valet!
Whenever there is a festive event, such as anniversaries and birthdays, you definitely have to think about this beautiful restaurant, there is a lot of tranquility, the first-rate food and the spectacular attention.
The whole experience was wonderful! The food, the service, everything was great!
Covid limited menú.
But still some choice items.
Was a little warm inside. But not too unpleasant.
Food and service were both very good. They followed CDC guidelines with facemark and paper disposable menus.
Gréât place for spécial occasion dining. Steaks are superb, wine list just right. Views of CC are 360!
Great food delicious streaks, large portions and dessert was delicious.. Good service and drinks reasonable prices.. I would recommend.
It was not our usual experience at this restaurant and I am going to attribute my disappointment to the effects of Covid19. After we had placed our order we were told that there were no ribeyes or NY strips steaks available. Difficult to imagine how you would run out of these menu items on a Friday night. Our side dish was only luke warm
and our waitress tried very hard to be attentive but it was obvious that she had too many tables requiring her attention. Not a $200+ anniversary night dining experience
Service and food was excellent along with an exceptional view of the ocean.
Our 20th Anniversary dinner was excellent.
Food was excellent. Wine choices were excellent. The mixed drink I had was poor. Crown and seven was not seven up and too little crown
We had an amazing waitress Rachel!! She rocks, very attentive, sweet and caring. The food was great and wait time was short. The bus boy was prompt to remove dishes. Overall a fantastic experience that you!!
Our server had wonderful service. I ordered the steak while my husband ordered the rack of lamb. Although it is a little pricey. It was worth every penny. We would definitely return!
The food and people were great BUT they stuck us down in a hole on the side of their wall when other tables were open that had a MUCH better view and were still far enough away from others that we could have sat there. That was be poor judgement on their part since we said it was our first time ever. Because of this I have rated their service and ambience categories much lower than I normally would do
I think they did it because of my service dog which is actually illegal to treat others differently when my dog can easily tuck under any table out of the way
My rack of lamb was extremely excellent and tasty! Their Moscato was sweet and smooth. The salty caramel chocolate cake was perfecto! Right moisture, chocolate was velvety and rich and creamy!
Celebrated my birthday with a weekend at the Omni in Corpus Christi. Ate dinner earlier in the evening, and decided to have a special dessert at Republic of Texas. Had the cheesecake and salted caramel chocolate cake. Both were out of this world amazing! Our server, on the hand, seemed a little bothered that we were only having dessert, and not a full meal. Was a bit rude and snippy when I asked about the dessert menu, and rattled the selections off so fast we could hardly understand him. But we still enjoyed our desserts, and the view.
First visit after many recommendations! It was my husbands birthday, just the two of us, and it was wonderful. Staff is very friendly, view over the city is stunning and the food, I could go on for days! Crab cakes top notch! Wedge salad really fresh and great blue cheese crumble choice. We both had the ribeye cooked to perfection accompanied by the Brussels sprouts cooked with pork belly, to die for. Thanks for a great experi
Great place for social meeting. Would recommend to everyone.
This place is always good, but for some reason this time they sat us at a card table covered with nice linens, so every time the table was bumped everything wobbled or shook. Imagine sitting in $500 leather covered 50-pound heavy parsons chairs celebrating a 19 year anniversary on a temporary folding walmart table. Food was pretty good as always and our server was excellent however things like salt and pepper was available by request only. Be sure to ask for everything you need before your food comes out, or you may be waiting while your food sits. Not very busy at all on that day.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner and received great service by the staff of the restaurant. The food portions were very generous and the taste was outstanding.
I made reservations for me and hubby, we had an amazing dinner, Bayview!!! Excellent customer service, thanks for taking great care of the Jordan’s. We will be back soon.
Great food, service and fantastic evening.
Awesome as usual. Really enjoying the new menu items.
Went there for date night. Unfortunately they had a “ limited menu “ because it was 4th of July weekend . The ambiance and the service were excellent . The limited menu was disappointing in terms of variety . I wish they would’ve informed me of this prior to going .
The food was outstanding. The hostess was so thoughtful and kind.
The wait staff we’re outstanding BUT we felt the younger gentleman was much more customer friendly and just easy to talk too, where the head host was great just a little too reserved, again both were great but with all being under so much stress these days sometimes a little one on one goes along way. BUT again both were outstanding. Would highly Recommend.. thank you so very much..
Kris and Andy were great! They took care of every little detail. We will definitely be coming back more often.
Was a great experience. Wait time was not bad at all and the food was outstanding. Our waiter Wes was very attentive and took care of all we could ask. Would eat hear again next time in CC.
My husband and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary and wanted to have a good steak. We enjoy a good filet and we both ordered one. I ordered the 8 oz. and my husband ordered the 12 oz. I ordered mine medium rare and my husband ordered medium well. Bothe steaks were completely dry. When we cut into them there was not an ounce of juice. I have never had a steak without juice. Very strange. The meet did not have any flavor either. I asked for garlic butter and was given cold garlic butter for a steak that wasn't hot any longer. So we melted the butter over the candle at the table. This made the steak eatable but was not good by any means. We asked the waiter if this was normal... for the steaks to be dry and he said no, and he would let the chef know. There was no discount or anything. We will not return. Wish we would have gone to Landry's instead.
Loved the restaurant, view spectacular, food, vegetables very hard, not cooked well, chicken breast was a large leg looked like, a bone sticking out of it.
I was excited to go, but disappointed in the end. I was even prepared for $200 bill.
Great to be back at the R of Texas.
Food was great host was great. Server was about 20 minutes to take order hour for food. Good experience just need more staff for tables!
We were staying at the Omni for the weekend and had dinner here for my boyfriend’s birthday. We had a reservation so we didn’t have to wait for seating, but the remainder of the experience was full of delays. We later found out that the restaurant staffed 4 servers for over 200 diners, so I can’t even be upset with the server. She was clearly overwhelmed and missed out on sales because we would have ordered dessert...but we were offered that after the check was requested. I even wrote in the reservation notes that it was my boyfriend’s birthday, but nobody cared, haha. Overall, I gave them a three because the food was delicious and the views/ambiance did not disappoint. Let’s just say they weren’t prepared for the amount of people ready to get out and have dinner after being stuck in the house due to COVID-19.
We have dined here prior to COVID and found it to be exceptional. Started out well, not all staff had masks. Menu was only a limited selection. I had to return my steak the first time because it was well done and not medium rare. The second steak was as if they pulled it from the refrigerator and re-heated it. Center was very cool. I did got a discount, but for the amount of time and the fact it took three times to get it write, I should have received the entree for free! The wine and bread were great! The ambiance was as expected, very nice setting.
The place looks great and the view from the 20th floor is excellent. The food and service though was a little less than I expected. One of my guests ordered the prime rib special and it was way overdone and so tough she sent it back and got the five star pepperloin which was very good. My wife had a filet which was also good but not excellent. Service was sluggish and just not as attentive as we are used to at an upscale restaurant. The food presentation was also not quite five star.
Pretty much paying for the view of the harbor. The service was slow and the food was subpar. The steaks were tough and dry and the brussel sprouts were undercooked.
It was quiet and the staff were wearing masks and encouraging social distancing throughout the restaurant.
Vacation stay at the Omni.
Our celebratory engagement dinner was such a delight. We found the ambiance warm and inviting and the food was over the top scrumptious. It was a pleasure to have Mathew as our server. Thank you for taking our reservations while we were visiting from San Antonio. We truly enjoyed our stay as well as the Republic of Texas Restaurant.
The salmon was the best I’ve tasted. The steak was perfect. The Wait staff excellent.
