M’y wife and I enjoyed the culinary landscape that is developing in Detroit and this restaurant add up nicely to Detroit! Great experience.
We all enjoyed the class of this restaurant. The service was great and the food was awesome. Be sure to dine at Republic.
In the words of the Terminator “I’ll be back!” I will bring Friends and Family with us.
I had a beautiful evening with a gorgeous lady sharing our experiences. The food and the service was outstanding.
Food was great. I love the local farm to table dishes.
The chefs tasting is worth it!
Had a great dinner at Republic. Friendly service, good recommendations. The charcuterie platter is delicious always. Stand outs ... the mushroom salad and the meatballs! Will definitely be back.
The wait staff were very friendly and attentive . We loved the family style dining ; it allowed everyone to enjoy different entrees and sides . Would definitely return .
Enjoyed it very much. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly and attentive.
Wonderful experience, great food, attentive server, would gladly come back for a return visit.
It was a really nice experience. We would definitely recommend.
Highly recommend the Chef's Tasting Menu! Incredible selections - and a great amount of food.
Absolutely phenomenal meal, service and cocktails! Will be returning and spreading the news.
Did a late Valentines dinner, service and food was awesome, the drunk girl at the next table over was rather loud though
I’ve been here 4 times and it’s always amazing. I never write reviews but everyone needs to know how great this place is! Delicious, flavorful, perfectly cooked food, yummy cocktails, great atmosphere.
Terrible food. Mediocre service. We will not be returning.... mushroom salad was mostly greasy, fried, and tasted like something you’d get at a diner. Halibut was over cooked and dry as a bone. No sauce to compliment. Completely sub par for the prices and hype of this restaurant. Fail for sure. 😕
Arrived late Friday evening. Service was excellent. Shared 4 entrees and 2 desserts between 4 persons. All food was outstanding. Restaurant was full and the noise level very high.
Love that the menu is constantly changing, did find a small piece of bone in our chicken pot pie but overall 9/10
My wife and I made reservations for the Friday after valintines day. The hostess seated us immediately and our server was outstanding. He knew the menu forwards and backwards without making us feel dumb for asking questions. I would recommend Republic with a few caveats.
First, it is supposed to be family style however the portions for “family style” are pretty small. Our waiter suggested 3-4 plates depending on how hungry we were. At $14-$38 a plate, that felt a little steep but it was date night so who cares.
Second, the menu rotates which is really cool. They have some eccentric plates so be aware the flavor combos are unique.
Lastly, the carrots are a must! The other two dishes we order were ok but some that we wouldn’t order again. The carrots though were excellent!
The bar tender was super friendly also the guys sitting right next to us, our table was ready right on time and the food was quite good
Mediocre food not done well. Over cooked fish
We had a lovely meal
Food was fabulous, our waitress was excellent, and we loved the atmosphere.
Great Michigan fare! Chris was attentive but not overbearing. Will definitely return
Chef tasting menu that we order wasn't anything spectacular and the meal it self didn't make much sense in the way it was organized, but the service was outstanding.
Great dinner. Food was excellent (Beet Salad, Bronzino and Venison Shepherd's Pie). Chris was a great server.
Republic is a convienently located near theaters to make it a nice plave to have dinner before a show. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. Unfortunately, the menu is quite limited especially for vegetarians and most dishes were fried or deep fried. The roasted carrots were ok and the beet salad
We enjoyed our experience at Republic Tavern. Our waiter Chris was exceptional. We chose the chefs tasting and each dish was delicious.
We have been wanting to try Republic for some time. The ambiance is nice, but warning: the full menu is not available. The menu is limited and changes each month. We ordered roasted carrots and the beef tenderloin. My son loved the beef! The carrots were undercooked and the plum tofu pudding dessert was just okay.
Best valued tasting menu
This was my second visit and unfortunately our group on both occasions found that the drinks on the bar menu are trying too hard to be creative, but the mixes fall short. The drinks range from undrinkable to moderately passable. Sorry it’s just too much in one glass.
The food however, is excellent! My only complaint is that there too much in the Chefs choice menu and it gets too heavy at the end, meat, meat, meat! Just couldn’t find room for the last two plates. The Branzino was incredible, I would come back just for that dish again and again! I am also a big fan of the Japanese pancake, just incredible flavor and perfectly balanced.
You have great setting, but it is very loud, I was losing my voice by the end of the evening. I would encourage you to consider some sound absorbing decor. Lastly, the lights were never dimmed, it was a little too bright for a Saturday evening.
These may seem like harsh comments, but I really love Repulic and I will both return to and recommend the establishment in the future.
We were seated upon arrival by a friendly hostess. We ordered the charcuterie board. It came out quickly and the pepper bread was delicious. Our drinks were unique and tasty. The four of us ordered various foods to share. Everything had amazing flavor. The venison shepherd's pie was my favorite. Our table was wobbly which was kind of annoying, but the server attempted to fix it with a wedge. I didn't feel rushed at all. We ran low on water a few times, but other than the service was great! I would go back for sure.
Great dinning experience
Great food. Our server Chris H. was great! He was very patient with us while we were deciding what to order or do the chefs tasting. He explained everything wonderfully! We had a party of 7 and did the chefs tasting for the table. Food was delicious. The hostess was very nice also on the phone and our arrival. Overall great place would recommend very friendly service also.
Server took 15 min to show to our table. Many of the had too much salt.
First time eating there and it exceeded our expectations! Great food, service and ambiance! Appreciate the renovation of the building!
The food and service were wonderful. The drinks were amazing. We’ll be back.
This was my second time at Republic and it never disappoints. My top meal picks are the kale and pomegranate salad and the blueberry cheesecake (current menu) and they used to have a red curry inspired dish on their past menu which was to die for. They have an excellent cocktail list and the friendly staff kindly offered us a few wines to try to make our choice. Will be coming back a third time for sure.
Every single bite of everything we received from the chef’s choice menu was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend Republic!
Cocktails were creative and the excellent friendly bartender entertained all tastes! Food selection was creative and flavorful. I was disappointed that we didn't end up getting a table in the dining room like we expected with a 9:15 reservation. We ended up eating dinner at a high top in the bar by the door instead. I thought a reservation meant a real table... I know, however the staff can't control when people leave. Our server forgot to charge us for our bar drinks and ended up comping us for them. Not sure if that was to make up for not getting a table, but it was a nice gesture we appreciated.
