We ate downstairs in the main restaurant and then went upstairs to the Speakeasy to listen to music and dance. The whole experience was fabulous. We shared a Caesar salad. Plenty for 2, in our opinion. Then I had little neck clams in a white wine sauce over pasta. All the pasta is homemade. Actually, everything is from scratch. My husband had the salmon. Both were excellently prepared. The service was great. The decor is really interesting. Creative. Romantic. Comfortable. There are only about a dozen or so tables. Upstairs there are private rooms for parties and the Speakeasy. Women even dress the part in vintage flapper dresses. So fun. Great entertainment. Live singer and her dad who is like an MC who sings, place instruments, and even comes down onto the dance floor. Dancing. In all, we recommend Renzo's for a great meal and a special evening.
We were thoroughly impressed with the authentic Italian dishes. Only one word needed: Excellent!
We went here for the first time 5 years ago and didn't like it then. It wasn't that good and it was overpriced. Given that was so long ago we decided to try it again. I'm afraid nothing has changed. The food was very bland, I could easily make better at home. Highly disappointed after the price we paid. The meat and cheese board for an appetizer was poor. Essentially it was slices of Italian deli meats and cheeses. Who puts sliced provolone on a cheese board at a fancy restaurant? Essentially I could have used the board to make and Italian hoagie. The salmon mushroom pasta had no taste whatsoever. The lasagna was just ok. Waiter was nice but not very knowledgeable and slow. Had chocolate mousse for dessert and one of us got sick within minutes after eating it. I definitely would not recommend Renzos.
The food was great and so was the service. This is the first in a long time that I have cleaned my plate it was that good.
Amazing food and atmosphere! I absolutely would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good Italian food
Excellent, beautiful soft non verbal music, didn't have to talk loud to have a conversation. Food and service excellent
Our last night in Hendersonville, so we have to go to Renzo's and have great Italian food and good music by Nello and friends. Upon our return home we finished off the dinner from the night before that I had frozen for our long drive home. One of many reasons to return to Hendersonville.
Mr. Renzo is a great host. He gave us a personal tour of his new upstairs speak easy.
The minestrone needs improvement; more vegetables and fewer potatoes.
The tiramisu is to die for.
Great Caesar salad and eggplant parmesan
Renzo's is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. We have gone to this restaurant with many different people and there has never been one complaint. The food is excellent, the wines chosen by Renzo himself, with many ingredients brought from Italy because what is available here does not meet Renzo's exacting standards.
If noise bothers you, ask for a table upstairs, where the rooms are more intimate. In recent weeks, an old speakeasy, which has been refurbished, has opened at Renzo's. On Friday and Saturday nights, Nello and Michelle Masci play a mix of fun music, and create an entertaining and fun environment. Thursday is jazz night, with occasional Wednesday specials, e.g., Latin Night or maybe line dancing. You can go to the speakeasy even if you don't eat at the restaurant, but then a $10 entertainment charge will be added to your bill. Go online to see the video.
Every time I'm in Hendersonville, I intentionally make it to Renzo's Ristorante. The food is authentic Italian cuisine, completely delicious, with exceptional service in a lovely atmosphere. Do NOT miss Nona's lasagna or the tiramisu (best in the world, in my opinion, including tiramisu I've been served in Italy). You will not regret the trip!
Ansolutly delicious !!! Perfect dinner for the 1st night of our honeymoon and we’re going back for the speakeasy :)
Just ok. We have been in the past ..better service owner came to talk to us. This time nothing special.
The food is amazing. If you love authentic Italian food- it is at Renzo's.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance. The restaurant seems to be struggling and needs a good operational manager that will help to bring Renzo's vision to life more effectively. There are not enough servers or they are not trained well. Possibly the kitchen is struggling because it has seemed to be chaos relative to all operational matters. The last two times we have been in the service has been terrible which is a shame because it ruins the experience. We will wait to see if things improve
We have previously enjoyed this restaurant. But this time, my husband and I both thought our entrees were simply reheated leftovers. We both had a vegetarian option — the mushroom risotto. It was blobs of risotto with mushrooms dumped in bowls. It was all stuck together. We both thought our bowls had probably been filled and refrigerated hours before waiting to be reheated as needed. The mushrooms were tasty but for the price we paid. we expected fresh dinners, presented well. in warm bowls.
This was our first visit but will not be our last. We had heard great things about Renzo’s and it was all true. We took a friend who is considering relocating to Hendersonville and she was impressed with the area and especially the dining experience.
Had very nice dinner. Excellent Food. Service was quick but could be just a tad more friendly. That would not keep me away. Enjoy everything. Highly recommend.
Overpriced for the value. The dining experience would have been more memorable had the owner and staff been a bit more ingratiating especially knowing that we were dining for a special event.
The best authentic Italian food. Great service. Must try
We have enjoyed lunch and dinner in the last couple of days. The quality and execution of the meals were exceptional. Thank you for such an authentic Italian experience.
Friendly staff, comfortable seating. Our sidewalk view of the formal table settings initially concerned us because we were wanting a casual dining experience. But once we entered the restaurant we were immediately at ease. Shared some appetizers (carpaccio was perfect and a house salad with a nice variety of greens). Eggplant Parmesan was amazing, light and crispy. Delicious! Our other entrees were well presented and just as satisfying.
Food was absolutely delicious and service was great!
Excellent Lasagne! Best restaurant in downtown Hendersonville!
We visit the Hendersonville area once a year, we always make time to visit Renzo's - we love everything about the place.
The food was a little over cooked but Jackie our server was excellent.
We loved our first time upstairs at the new SpeakEasy which Renzo’s has just opened! Wonderful ambience & great wait staff! The small plate offerings were delicious & you could also order from Renzo’s main menu. Large selection of the popular mixed drinks of the Roaring 20’s also. The Father/ daughter performing duo sang popular songs from all eras & got everyone up & dancing.
We will definitely go back- a great place for a special occasion & to take company...
Wonderful restaurant and Renzo is a charming host.
Great food in a fun spot; desserts are made in house and absolutely DELICIOUS.
We have lived in Hendersonville for over a year and have been told Renzo’s was very expensive for the food quality. We decided to try the restaurant this week and came away very dissatisfied. All items we had really had no flavor and were expensive. From the ceaser salad to the pasta soup the steak and lasagna. We would not recommend the restaurant and will not return.
Date night celebrating our three month wedding anniversary
Best Italian food I’ve ever had. Atmosphere a true rendering of Italy
We had a delightful evening! My husband loved Renzo's signature salad, and the fettuccine Bolognese was outstanding. Heavenly meal!
highly recommend the lasagna and tiramisu! the wait staff was appropriately attentive
We love the menu at Renzo's. The gnocchi are a big hit, the sauce is delicious! The wait staff is attentive, professional, and very pleasant. The ambiance charming and I enjoy taking family members to Renzo's when they visit. Grazie!
This was our first visit to Renzo's. When we walked in we saw the Romeo and Juliet table and asked if we could sit there and the hostess said it was available. Our server came over and was nice and told us about the specials. We ordered a bottle of wine and we shared the Caesar salad which was excellent. The bread and the oil dip was also very good. I ordered the Lasagna and I loved it. My husband ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana and was disappointed. The eggplant was rolled with the cheese and then there were fresh tomatoes inside of it. It just was not very favorable and the tomatoes in there did not help. Overall, everything else was good and we would return.
Let’s begin with the cocktail, we ordered kir royale, which should be a little bit of creme de cassis and mostly sparkling wine. This was mostly cassis, making it ridiculously sweet. When I told the waiter there was too much cassis, he went and got the bottle of Prosecco and poured a little more on top. Not the solution I was looking for! We then ordered mushroom risotto, and that was ok but they used sliced portobellos, and with all the wild mushrooms around these parts it should have had a little more variety. We wanted veal for our entree, and they only offered veal saltimbocca, but my wife didn’t want the prosciutto, so asked if she could have piccata style. The waiter checked with the kitchen, and then told us that chef didn’t like to have to do this but would this time. Sheesh! What came out, believe it or not, was veal with prosciutto (!) and all swimming in a lemon butter sauce with a few capers. I stuck with the saltimbocca, and it was fair. The waiter never asked my wife if the veal was to her liking, and she just peeled the prosciutto off the veal. The cannoli we had for desert was good. All in all, a disappointing meal, mediocre service, and a restaurant that I would not recommend. PS all this under the nose of Renzo, the owner, who never checked on us during the dinner.
This restaurant is not a good value. Two of us had the bean soup, which had many, many more pieces of potato than beans, had no discernable flavor and is not a dish we would ever order again. The caesar salad was forgettable. One of us had the seafood melange and the other two had the sliced filet with rocket dish. The filet dish was fair and the seafood item not very satisfying. The prices charged for this meal do not represent the relative quality of the product. No good reason to return here. All three of us travel extensively and feel that the high ratings of this restaurant do not come close to representing the actual situation.
Always a nice experience.
We had a table for two upstairs. Very nice and private. The staff was wonderful!
