Renaissance Cafe Ratings and Reviews
This was our second time visiting. This was also an evening with a special menu. We were blown away with the starters and the main course. Every bite was full of amazing flavor and plated beautifully. Our waiter also recommended great drinks that we may not have otherwise thought of to go along with our meal. Everything paired nicely and was a great evening.
Always a hit with us. Food was delicious and were so happy we chose to take our friends to celebrate NYE. Our cocktails were delicious. The steak was perfectly prepared and the pear tart with eggnog gelato was delightful. It’s always easy to relax and be spoiled by a top tier dinner at the Renaissance Cafe.
We had a great visit! We really enjoyed the environment - what a neat setting! The food was good considering it’s in the middle of Kansas!! We had the tuna crudo and the fish was AMAZING. I encourage the chef to look at the balance of flavors as the fish was so beautiful but the micro greens and harissa overpowered the delicate flavors of the tuna. I ordered the bison and butternut squash ravioli. The pasta was cooked so well, perfectly al dente. The bison was rich while the butternut squash was hardly detectable. The sauce was a bit greasy- but I’m nick picking because we truly had a WONDERFUL experience. Service was friendly and lovely.
We picked this restaurant as an alternative to eating in Salina. To say we were pleasantly surprised is way understated. The entire experience was so much more than expected. This was truly a wonderful experience. First of all, the idea that a beautiful restaurant could be put together from a former high school gym was very surprising. I had the freshly prepared soup of the day which was a mushroom bisque. It was perfectly seasoned and hot. The entrée was medallions of pork tenderloin and vegetables. I thought the pork was a bit overdone, but the taste was marvelous. My spouse had the Ahi tuna, a potato puree, and veggies. Tuna can be challenging to keep from being too done, but this tuna was perfect. We also shared a chocolate dessert that was one of the best I've ever had along with very wonderfully brewed coffee. I've already asked my brother and his wife to join us next time we make the drive from Wichita.
The Renissance Café is on my list as a favorite place to dine. The food is always excellent; perfectly prepared and presented. It is a true "dining" experience in that you can spend the evening enjoying your meal, companions and surroundings. The staff is cordial, professional and quite well informed about the food and beverage options. It's a place that we sometimes hesitate to tell others about for fear they will be so busy that we won't be able to get in!
A big disappointment. Highly touted restaurant which I've wanted to visit for 4 years. Required an overnight. Not very Italian. Cook is Heavy-handed. No finesse. Rib-eye steak blanketed in cracked pepper. Couldn't taste the meat. Service was good. Won't recommend.
I was not happy with this experience because the waitress seemed very rushed. Also, when asked how I wanted my steak I said not gray but not bloody. When the steak arrived it was gray...I did not send it back because it had taken so long to get our food. The couple next to us sat down after us and left long before we did. It was not a very satisfying experience.
Who would have guessed that such a wonderful culinary experience was to be had in a wisp of a town in Central Kansas-- Assaria, Kansas (population 400)? Prior to September 23,2017, I was to be counted among the unaware and uninitiated; those who had not an inkling of an idea of the epicurean delights that are to be found at the Renaissance Café . The food I and my party were served on this initial visit has convinced me that I need to be a regular visitor to this marvelous eatery!
This is our favorite restaurant within 50 miles of where we live. We really enjoy a relaxed fresh cooked meal with friends here. The chef and staff are professional and make it a great experience. This is our go-to spot for most of our special occasions. I usually go with a salad, but decided to try the soup last weekend. It was creamy, and I'll have hard time going back to the salad next time.
The evening started out very well. The ambiance (music, lighting, seating) was excellent and set the mood for an enjoyable dining experience. The service also was "just right". The complimentary nibbles were gourmet-ish, the drinks were good quality and the salads were excellent. It was the main courses that were very disappointing. In retrospect, I'm not at all sure my rib eye steak was even a rib eye (very thin, tough and no taste) and my partners pasta was overly oily. I really regret not saying something to the waiter, but I didn't! I do think I might have been offered another option, as the wait staff was so good.
So, I'm not crossing them off of my list, but I will either stick with salads and appetizers, of be more on guard with an entree the next time.
I hope this review is helpful to them, because I would like for them to be successful, as they offer a valuable service to the Salina area.
