Went with friends for dinner and the ambiance was good and service was amazing. Can’t complain about the meat and the salad bar it was amazing. Filet mignon, lamb chops great.
Wanted to love it here, but they kept bringing out way overcooked meat. I understand rare isn't for everyone, but nearly everything was medium well.
Rei do Gado is always amazing! We drove from AZ for a flight the next day. We purposefully came a day early so we could eat dinner here. Thank you Cecilia!
Great food and service!!!!
Rei do Gado Brazilian Steakhouse is a family favorite - we go for family birthdays. This restaurant NEVER disappoints. This time we arrived right at 4p - the changeover from the lunch to dinner menu. The restaurant was quiet and relaxing - before the big Saturday night dinner rush. The service was very appropriate - not overwhelming. And the food - as always - was fabulous. Though this is a steakhouse and we love the meat selection - this time - the salad and seafood reigned supreme. The salads are innovative and fresh. Seafood was plentiful and very fresh. Overall and superior experience and we'll be back in a few months for the next family birthday.
This restaurant is great for dates. It’s all you can eat and the meat was delicious. They have a variety of meats and literally every single one is perfectly flavored. However, we weren’t impressed by the salad bar. I would give the salad bar a 5 out of 10. But overall I was happy with my experience.
Our son really wanted to try a Brazilian Steakhouse. I liked this place because of the lunch pricing option until 4 pm. We arrived at 3:20 which was worked well because they change over to dinner at 4 which means you can continue to eat but not the upscale seafood items on the buffet side dishes. They do, however, curtail bringing the meat selections around during the change over so don't get there past 3:15 or 3:30. We were pleasantly surprised at how tasty and adventurous the side dishes are. The salads were outstanding and we enjoyed tasting the authentic Brazilian sides like the beef stew, feijoada and more. They also had cookies and candied fruit to top your meal off with a sweet taste. The meat was really the focus and was mostly outstanding. Our Americanized palates are not quite used to cooking meat with fat dripping down onto it but we will agree it enhances the flavor and juiciness so once in a blue moon we can handle it. The services was excellent too. They kept bringing out the meats and slicing it for us. The filet mignon and garlic flap meat were really tasty but to be honest it was all great. I didn't think I would say this before but I would go back more often than I thought I would before because the sides were so good and the lunch pricing made it more affordable.
Waited for 45 minutes past our reservation time :(
But once you sit in and start grubbing you’ll forget the wait, the sirloin cap and top sirloin were incredible, the short rib and grilled pineapples were out of this world, baby back rib was great, you just can’t go wrong with this place, the Samba dancer was greatly adorned and danced very well,
Great experience :)
As far as Brazilian Steakhouses go the meats were just okay, but there salad bar was a little different and good. There were a few meats where I did not care for the flavor our taste. The salad bar had different seafood options which was great. I would recommend this place for the salad bar over the meats. The service was average.
LOVE this place!! No complaints every time I go! This time I was seated in the room on side of the main dining room and it was interesting at first but the food was so freaking good. This place is consistent and SPOT ON!!
This is my favorite restaurant in San Diego. Love to go here. Went here for my birthday, it was very nice and really good.
All the meat was burned, bland and smoked. Waited long periods between meat cuts and were just served whatever they wanted to give you. The salad and seafood bar were just ok. Definitely not work $55 per person. Fogo has a better meat.
Great food but sometimes the service killed the flow. The delivery of the meat was fine, but more water left something to be desired. Our meal started at 5 and then additional staff arrived at 5:30. We were left in limbo as to who was taking care of us. Asking for drink refills and desert were answered with I’ll find your server for you. Food 10. Service 5.
Can’t get enough of this place!
I love coming to this place but if they put you in the other room where you’re tuck in, they tend to forget about you and don’t get the meat as often. Especially when there’s 5 of us, the meat would run out before it can get to our table. Definitely not worth $55 that night!
Wonderful salad bar and awesome meat for a Valentine’s Day lunch. My 7th time and still great.
There are a number of issues.
1. The meat was supposed to be 20 kinds. I counted 10 for a sunday night dinner.
2. The waiters don't know how to cut meat. They cut how they want, where ever they want. And they move fast ( which is partially good in efficency but bad when doing the wrong thing). They cut rare meat to who takes more cooked. They cut well done meat who likes rare. Basically they don't care at all. They just want to finish their round quickly.
3. The meat itself is just fair quality. The meat we have and service at Texas de Brazil is way much better then this place. At texas de Brazil, waiters make sure you get the cut you want instead of just dumping a cut of meat on your plate. Custmers happy, and less waste due to not like the cut. I saw the couple on the table beside us were pushing meat they don't like on the side. It's a lose lose situation here.
The best churrascuria I have been to!! Better than Fogo for sure!
If you have a large party, make sure you keep your receipt after you pay.
Staff is amazing!
Thank you for a great birthday celebration!!!
Enjoyed everything yet again! The ribeye steak and bacon-wrapped turkey (juicy & very flavorful) were especially delicious this time. (Reviewed previously - 9/2017)
Our waiter Max was attentive and checked on us often throughout our meal. He made sure our drinks & water glasses were always filled and changed out our plates as needed. Max provided excellent customer service & even remembered me from a previous visit to the restaurant. Also, Max ensured my parking validation was taken care of and had the valet bring my car around as we paid our bill. It is always a pleasure to dine at Rei de Gado every time I dine here. Thank you Max for providing me with an exceptional dining experience! I look forward to returning again.
Server forgot about my table; We felt ignored even when we needed attention. The meat barely kept coming around, we were waiting and starving. Our same friend came back the next day and his plate was always full of meat.
We dined here for San Diego Restaurant Week. When I made the reservation, the menu (for restaurant week) said they have 20 cuts of meat to offer. In reality they only had 5 cuts!!! Extremely disappointed in Rei Do Gato!!!
Can never get enough. Best steakhouse in San Diego. And for restaurant week $30 for all you can eat steak. I will be there again this week I guarantee. If you are reading this what are you waiting for???
We wen't during Restaurant Week on Jan 21 with a reservation in the afternoon. We we're there and checked in 30 minutes early to ensure that we can get seated on time. The two female at the front door that check reservations and walk in we're not courteous when asked the status of our table, they get irritated when asked and forget that you are still waiting for your table. One of them has even said that she is so STRESSED. I don't think she is qualified to work on this customer service base job. She easily give customers an attitude. Once seated, the table that they told us that is ready is NOT READY. Still missing utensils and napkins. The waiter takes a while to get your order. It took twice to remind the waiter if we can get a drink, and I think since
the waiter is not assigned to our table, he just forgot about it . We have to asked again, and
probably he has to ask the waiter assigned to our table to serve us and then we get our drink. Not sure if the management has failed to realize that this is a busy day and there's not enough waiter OR maybe there's something wrong with the waiter serving us. YOU CAN SEE THE WAITERS are not smiling, they might be tired already???? We have selected also the $30 SDRW menu that suppose to get at least 15 different meats, I have counted and there's only around 6 different meat they serving.I think we should have been charged for the $20 SDRW menu.
It is normally a wonderful dining experience but on this occasion, they were not prepared for the number of people during SDRW. It took long periods before we got served with meat.
The service was great at first. But the longer we stayed the less service we got from our server. The people who took our plates away and refilled our drinks were more attentive.
Love this place! Expensive, but you do get your money's worth. I get the "salad bar". Yeah that is like calling the Titanic a rowboat! Crab legs, shrimp, every kind of salad, soups, hot entrees.
This is an all round great Brazilian restaurant. The service is great and freindly. Meats are very good and there’s a big selection on the salad bar too. I have eaten here several time on business and it’s on my any my coworkers preferred list. Feels unique and warm without being cramped.
The idea of having a taste of a variety of different meats including chicken, pork, lamb, and various types of beef cuts is spectacular. The taste, flavors, and variety of meats is fanatic. We also had a non-meat eater with us that really enjoyed the salad bar which is extensive and delicious and about $15 less than the full dining experience. Great place to go with friendly staff and authentic service.
It Took 30 mins to get someone with food to come to our table, Fargo de Chao is much better all the way around
Not as fancy as I expected. Bright and warm inside. But exceptional food and service.
The food was great and the service was great. Loved the salad bar and the hot food bar.
Doesn't disappoint. Great service and food. Consistent dining experience
Love this place. Great food and excellent service. It's my favorite restaurant for a special occasion.
Very good family environment with authentic servers and drinks. We visit several times a year and the service and food is always great. High key recommended for those that love steak. Bring your appetite.
We came here on a Saturday night which was expected to be busy. The girl couldnt find our reservation even though I gave her our confirmation number for our anniversary date. I am giving them 5 stars for service because they were able to seat us right away and were attentive during the course of our dining. I love the variety of meats with the Picanha being my favorite. I wish I was able to try the bacon wrapped steak, but no one ever came around. Bring an empty stomach and a fat wallet! I recommend you try this place at least once if you haven't already done so. So worth it!
We frequent Rei do Gado at least 2-3 times a year. We live in North County so the commute is worth every minute in traffic and slow trek back after the great dining experience. Very accommodating for our group, which included a sleeping baby. Servers and sword bearers are always in good spirits and ready to answer any question. Even when it's about the language or other servers members of our party admirer (secretly). Best place for any occasion. Best place for good food. Best place period.
