Brazilian Steakhouse
The churrasco (Brazilian barbecue) is a traditional feast that has been celebrated in Brazil for centuries. It is a unique and healthy way of roasting meat over a mesquite flame that preserves tenderness and gives it a taste unmatched by any other. Guests of Rei do Gado will encounter an unlimited buffet of typical dishes and salads. We also have live entertainment every night and samba dancers on Fri & Sat.

Outstanding service. They called me after I booked a party of 12. Verified we had all we needed and seated us 30 minutes early.

I would like to see cheaper options for kids but everything else was awesome!

We were disappointed the meat selection is not a lot like before. They stopped making the pork ribs. Unlike before Sunday lunch there were a variety of meats they offer. There were dishes that were out/empty and they do not get refilled right at once you have to notify the staff they are out dishes. A good example on the buffet section there was a tray for fried bananas, it was empty. It took 20 min to refill the dish.

Food was very good. $54 per person for a buffet was a bit steep. Their meat is very good and lots to choose from, but getting barely a 1 ounce slice of the better cuts vs. a big hunk of top sirloin kind of turned us off. The buffet was good but not extraordinary. $196 for two people, each getting one drink seemed high for what it is. But the food was tasty. Just too pricey to bring my family of 6 for what you really get. Glad we went though!

This is my 3rd or 4th time to this restaurant. I was vacationing with friends and insisted we have dinner here. They were all impressed with the meat. They and I will definitely be back when in San Diego again. Further, we brought two bottles of wine (white) and our waiter quickly brought a chill bucket to keep the wine cold. Note: This is not a fancy restaurant. Business casual is perfect dress although I did notice some patrons in shorts/t-shirts.

We had a reservation at 8:30 p.m. on a Saturday evening and were seated within ten minutes of arriving. Given the option, we chose to sit outside...an error in judgement. After being seated we were served water, but didn't see the waiter again for quite some time. When he finally came back and gave us the lay of the land we were able to go and fill our plates with the salads and sides offered at the bars. The meat then started coming and it was delicious. The only drawback was that we seem to have been forgotten about much of the time since we were the only ones dining outside. I'd recommend the restaurant based on the food alone, but would advise not sitting outside if you want to be served promptly.

We had never eaten at a Brazilian Steakhouse. It was a great experience - really fun and food was delicious! They sang Happy Birthday and served us Chocolate Mousse to celebrate. Would absolutely go again!

Don’t bother with the chain restaurants. This is the best churrascaria in San Diego, and one of the best I’ve ever been to. Great service, delicious food, most servers speak Portuguese, and yes, they do serve chicken hearts (on request). Also, the pão de queijo is hands down the best I’ve ever had.

I've been going to Rei do Gado for years and have always enjoyed the fine quality of the meats served. This past visit, however, was very disappointing. Quality was hit or miss. Many cuts had lots of tough, inedible parts and big chunks of fat. Service wasn't up to par either. Some of the servers never made it to our table. Lamb was on the menu but we never saw it.

I am recommending Rei do Gado because of their past history of excellence. I hope my most recent visit was an anomaly and that there is a return to quality.

Food was bland and could use more seasoning. Garlic, salt, pepper, anything really. It was basically warm unseasoned meat and the service was inattentive. The Sangria was the best part of the meal. Definitely not worth the $185 for two people.

Service was poor. Plates stacked up on the table and the meat in some cases was dropped from high over other people at the same table rather than going around the table to get closer to the plat.

We had a large table and the service was decent. Just the same stuff came by even though we requested others. Servers were friendly, always said yes, but did not actually come with what was requested. Also, we sat on the side where a nightclub or something kicks off at 9pm. It is seriously a distraction and we were also told they close that side at 9pm. Do not know why we would be sat there so late. But overall, still the better brazilian steakhouse downtown.

Nowhere as good as previous visits (I've been here easily 10 times in the last decade or so). Not sure if it was because it was an off-day (weekday evening) or if they've had some staff turnaround. Meat was not as well seasoned, and the cook was not as consistent. King Crab Legs were also not as tasty (fresh?) as before.

Great and service for Saturday lunch. Arrived at 11:30am and we were the third table seated resulting in very fast service. Takes to about 12pm for all items to show up at buffet. We could have been in and out in 30 minutes but stayed a little longer to let the food digest. Great salad/buffet items. Bacon filet and garlic sirloin best meat items. Cheese rolls amazing. We Grabbed some fried bananas and cookies from buffet for desert. 5.5$ Brazil beers good and reasonably priced. Cheers

Reí do Gado was delicious. The side salad bar was great with a wide variety of choices. After eating such a rich, delicious variety of foods in one meal, it kinda ruined meals for the rest of the weekend. I would recommend going hungry and with comfortable clothes. We will definitely be back

Food and service was great. Julianna, our waitress was attentive and was a complete gem. The salad bar had a great selection of hot and cold foods. The fresh cheesy bread that was offered by a waiter making rounds at the tables was absolutely magnificent. It was so fresh the steam from the heat could be seen when it was torn apart.

My birthday dinner with my husband,son and his wife. The salad bar was nice but hard to get to and crowded. The meat service was great but it was hard to get cocktail reordered and water refills. Had to ask for the cheese bread. If you love meat this is your place.
