This is my wife and i's 2nd dinner at the "Gado" and had a wonderful time again. This gem of 4th street is amazing. Friendly staff, excellent food and the resturant it's self is full of life. We will dine here many more times.
Quite expensive in this day and age with the economy the way it is, but we went for our one year anniversary and it was well worth it. I'm not a wine person and I told our server (who was fantastic and attentive) that I didn't care for the taste of alcohol and he found me the perfect wine that I have actually fallen in love with. The food was fantastic, and because it's a sit down buffet your food starts coming right away. Make sure you go with an empty stomach though because with 16 different meat cuts to try plus the salad bar you are gonna fill up fast. And trust me you are going to want to try them all, top sirloin, garlic top sirloin, pork tenderloin, pork saugage, lamb, grilled chicken, turkey wraped in bacon, and many more. A must go
You get what you pay for and even more. Food and service..thumbs up!
The food was okay however I have one major complain. As a family celebrating my oldest daughter birthday it was hard for me to accept that they charge 25.00 for a 2 year old to eat one piece of fruit and a small amount of white rice. This is way over charging and I will never return for dinner which was over priced for the selection. 2 adults and 1 kid 150.00.
The restaurant opened at 1100 AM and was clean, brightly lit and well staffed. The selection of soups, side dishes and appetizers was excellent. The grill served a great selection of meats and the gauchos were attentive to requests. My family had a very memorable experience. We would definitely visit again.
Food was great, and service was also pretty good. However, the layout is very cramped. Very hard not to bumb into people and tables while walking around.
The salad bar was excellent with a great variety of items.
The meats were very good specially the top sirloin beef.
Great food. Plenty of choices, fresh and delicious. The meats that they bring to the tables are awesome. Good for special occasions, but I won't go too often as it is kind of pricy.
Great restaurant! I highly recommend it for special occasions. The staff and food are awesome! Loved the variety of salad bar items and variety of meat, I don't think it gets any better- they've got it right!
This was my first time to Rei do Gado. My husband and sons had been before. This was for a special occasion. My sons graduation from the San Diego Police Academy. It was perfect. We had a very nice evening. Thank you.
Service was excellent.
Not for Vegetarians. This is a meat lover's paradise. All you can eat rodizio style with a good salad bar. Desserts are good too, if you can save room. Try the caipirihna, the official drink of Brazil.
Great ambiance and buffet, delicious meats- it is very easy to share bottle of wine and have conversation with friends, food are so diverse that even non meet lovers were pleased ( meat lovers were ectatic)! Atmosfere is inviting, I always keep coming back!
The meats are amazing. The dining area is a bit small for walking around but the service is great.
I let me girlfriend pick the place for date night, and she chose here. The reservation was made pretty easy via their website, so that was nice. I read mixed reviews online..which you can't always go by until your try it.. When I walked in the first thing I caught scent of bloody red meat, which I love. The server took way too long to greet us, it probably took about 5 mins, I understand if your busy at least come bye and acknowledge us and let us know you'll be right with us... -1 for that, it was really cramped, especially if your gonna have meat servers walking down every isle plus theres a salad bar which also creates more traffic...salad bar was awesome though, they had salmon, crab legs, shrimp, aged cheese, salads, bread..$100 for 2
Typical Brazilian style steak house, but the service and food meat quality sets it apart. The sides are okay, nothing amazing. Overall I would give it a solid 8 or 9/10, which I rounded down to 4 only due to price. 50 bucks a person is a little steep.
It was my first time at Rei do Gado and I felt a little lost. The waiter was very nice but didn't tell me where to get a plate. I was also really looking forward to the cheese bread because all of my friends said it was delicious but it was never brought to the table. I was disappointed that they didn't even care we were celebrating a birthday. However, the food and dessert were excellent. Make sure to try the bacon wrapped filet, tritip, ham with pineapple, and pork sausage. If you want a great dessert try the Brasilian pudding, it's similar to flan.
Very crowded and cramped at our table. We had a group of 13 and had to make do with a long table and an additional booth on one end. This restaurant doesn't seem to have seating available on Sunday afternoon for groups more than 8. They have an additional area but it wasn't open on the day we went. The food was good, the salad bar was lacking in quality items but not not quantity. The items didn't make sense, potato salad was an odd choice for this restaurant. I would have appreciated knowing that dessert was not included with the meal, I still would have ordered dessert but there is no signage indicating as such. It was a good experience, but not great as we expected. We will find somewhere else for our next graduation party.
Been here several times. Always a lively group of diners and the waitstaff are always freindly and always Brazilian, which adds to the authenticity of the restaurant/
I have to say, this place is great for like a family to get together, but it is a bit pricey...but the service is great!!!
great place, with good food, friendly employees. FUN, FUN, fUN!!!!!
The lunch menu price changed to a more expensive and outrages price. Quality of food service dropped from my previous visit a year ago. There are other restaurant options in San Diego with more favorable food.
great food. Heavy on red meat though
All of the meats were perfectly cooked and hot when arriving to the table. The Salad Bar has both a wide and unique variety of items. Although this is an opportunity to completely gorge yourself it is fairly easy to leave without going over the top and still feeling you got your money's worth.
Meat servers were good. Seemed to be forgotten by everybody else.
Great food and staff. Tables are too close together - not for a romantic getaway.
Great Brazilian food in San Diego!
Excellent food and outstanding service. A bit pricey to visit regularly but rumor is they have an amazing lunch special.
a buffet style salad bar with a mountain of meat.
Cuts of meat have been better. This is 4th time visiting and by far this experience was the worst. Normally you can't eat the meat they give you because there is so much, but this time it was few and far between. You still have to sit and beg for a glass of water. The prices are still pretty steep but, you get what you pay for.
Delicious food, although it is a little pricey. Go with an empty tummy. We really enjoyed the skirt steak and the cap round. Yum!
If a restaurant can parlay good food, good service and good ambiance then they deserve an overall very good rating. It is not fine dining and was never intended to be, but it is a good and fun place to eat with a group and the food is good. Everybody can find much to like. Good bar, friendly atitude.
Sad to say I was very disappointed. Heard some good things about the place but ultimately th food disappointed me. Went for lunch and all but two of the meats were dry (over cooked) and had minimal to no seasoning. Even the pinapple and ham was VERY dry. Atmosphere, ambiance and service was excellent but food was bland. Surprisingly the sausage was mushy and greasy.n Wish I could be more positive but it is what it is. May have just been a bad day, but you don't get a second chance to make a first impression.
Wow. Rei do Gado was remarkable. The food was surperb, the service was unsurpassed, and the ambiance was beautiful. We thoughly enjoyed our visit and we made to our concert on time. This is a keeper. Can't wait to return with other members of our friends and family.
We went to Rei do Gado on a weekday for lunch. At $18/person, it's a great bargain with all the succulent meat that keeps coming.... Don't miss the Top Sirloin and the Beef Ribs. They serve lamb for dinner only. So, we couldn't have it during our trip.If you eat rice with your meat, try the rice with dried meat.
At the end of our meal, we had their Brazilian Cappuccino which tunrned out to be far better than what you would have in regular cafes.
Excellent service and attention to details.
not a great brazilian BBQ. one would think that a non chain would put in some effort to stand out from some of the major national chains that do the same type of cuisine. not this place. the restaurant layout is tight to say the least. for a restaurant type that requires you to maybe get up every once in a while, that's a negative. the service was subpar. we had to ask for the gauchos to come to our table. the salad bar, although had some interesting items, was small in comparison but let's get to the meat. every cut of meat aside fromm the boneless chicken was cooked very poorly. it mostly seemed that they just put it on the fire enough to cook it or the buy the worst cuts as everything was tough and chewy. every cut was this. bad.
Been going to Rei do Gado for almost 10 years now. If you enjoy your meats, this is the place for you! We have never been disappointed.
Great food! Salad/cold bar was really good. Meats were outstanding.
Very good Brazilian barbeque in San Diego.
Compared to other Churrascarias, like Fogo de Chao, Rei do Gado is just as pricey but lack in meat quality and variety. The buffet lack a lot of the traditional Brazilian dishes, like Banana Frita. Dessert is not included. Also, my friend order Champagne without looking at the menu (not a smart move), and we were charged $100 a bottle. The food service was just so,so. For a large a group it was a good place, and for someone that does not know any better, it works. As a Brazilian Gaucha, I know it can be better. At least the hostess on the phone was very attentive and nice about our reservation, and made us feel welcome.
Excellent service and food! Very impressed-would recommend this place to anyone!
