Rei do Gado Brazilian Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Food was good. Seemed we waited a long time for the actual meats. I have a pretty small appetite. Left there satisfied but would have liked to try a few more. We really just gave up waiting. Our server was good with getting drinks so that helped but overall, Ive been to better restaurants of this style.
I called to confirm there would be Samba dances on that Saturday night a few hours before our appointment time and the answer was YES! We would for sure to see the performance since our appointment was 7 pm. However, we were disappointed to be advised there was no samba dances on that night "after" we were seated. We felt mis-led.
Fortunately, there was a live piano performance by Keyslayer to make us feel happy again. Keyslayer is a wonderful piano player. We enjoyed his music a lot by sitting next to the piano. We also enjoyed how the waiters and waitresses come around the table to sing the happy birthday song in Portuguese.
Servers are great. Do r be afraid to ask for something particular to be brought out. They will bring the cut of meat you ask for. $$$ but if you like meat, its worth it. They have split king crab legs also. I visit 2-3 per year to gorge myself. I will be back.
Our experience at Rei do Gado was great. We had a reservation at 8, on Valentines Day, so we had to wait a few minutes but I think that is standard on a holiday. Once you're in you can just start eating which is perfect for my boyfriend. All of the food was excellent and consistent. The staff was helpful if/when we asked for anything.
The food was decent and the service was nice. I can definitely say that about the place. The ambiance, however, wasn't appealing at all. The place is straight out of the 80's and doesn't appear to have changed since then. Green rope lights were strung along the wall with half of the lights burned out. The tables and chairs were old and worn, as was the carpet. There was a terrible body-odor near the kitchen that never really went away.
Check out the Brazilian steakhouse on 6th and G (?) for a better dining experience. I'm sorry, Rei do Gado. You just need to renovate the restaurant a bit. :-/
I was a bit disappointed to be honest. My husband and I went to celebrate our Valentine's evening. There were alot of people so it was really a tight squeeze. The best part was the all you can eat crab and shrimp! The meat was a little to greasy and few and far between, it took quite a bit of time between the cuts that were brought to our table. The service was a tad slow. Our meal was quite expensive after all was said and done. The brazilian cocktail was good. The place seems popular, so try it for yourself.
My visit was during San Diego Restaurant Week and the restaurant was very crowed. The food was good but my table was not in a great location in the restaurant. The meat was very great but I think that in a normal day there was more variety of meat a the same time. I had to wait more for eat the meat that I most like.
Reservations for late lunch on Friday, seated immediately. Very nice atmosphere, friendly, helpful wait staff. Excellent salad bar and meat assortment. Meats were presented in typical Brazilian steakhouse style. Extremely fragrant and tasty. We plan to eat here again.
Overall, our experience at Rei Do Gado was amazing. Before coming here, I had a really bad experience with Brazilian BBQ; luckily, Rei Do Gado made up for that. The meat was juicy and very flavorful. We did go for restaurant Week, but we were charged the full lunch special price, which we weren't that happy about, but the service, food quality, and experience made up for that. Would definitely recommend trying Brazilian BBQ here over any other place!
Came for restaurant week - was glad to see an actual Brazillian staff. They were so accommodating and friendly. I think many Americans expect to have meat up to their ears but I thought the service, portions and delivery were perfect. Very authentic - will be back!
We love Rei. However, yesterday was the first day of restaurant week. This meant Rei was a big, chaotic mess due to the amazing lunch price. Amazingly after a 10 min wait after our 115 reservation, we were able to be seated. It was cramped because of all the people. The food quality was amazing and we loved our waiter. The only issue we had was around those folks bringing the meat around. They
