Brazilian Steakhouse
The churrasco (Brazilian barbecue) is a traditional feast that has been celebrated in Brazil for centuries. It is a unique and healthy way of roasting meat over a mesquite flame that preserves tenderness and gives it a taste unmatched by any other. Guests of Rei do Gado will encounter an unlimited buffet of typical dishes and salads. We also have live entertainment every night and samba dancers on Fri & Sat.

I was really excited to eat at Rei Do Gado. However, it was ruined because we had a reservation at 745 and we didn’t get seated until 815. The lady said I will be seated soon when I first checked in. More people came and checked in and they got seated before me. I keep asking if they forgot about me but they said they didn’t. So I asked the other lady when I will be seated because I’ve waited too long and she said everyone is getting seated soon. I don’t understand how it took that long to be seated when I had a reservation. My appetite was ruined throughout the whole night. We got sat on the very back so there were little service. I don’t think I will go back there again. The only thing that will make me want to go back is probably the food. But I don’t know because I’ve never gotten that kind of experience during restaurant week. I don’t usually write reviews but I should’ve been handle better.

Having recently moved back to SD and seeing Rei do Gado was still in business after so many years away we felt we had to check it out. We were sadly disappointed and puzzled how this place has some outstanding reviews, and that it’s still even in business. I have to preface that for one I am Brazilian, and two I have eaten at one of the best Brazilian Steakhouses, Chama Gaúcha in Downers Grove, IL. This place is in need of a major facelift. It reminded me of the Tropicana in Vegas back in the days. Sure the salad bar had some seafood options that are not standard in other Brazilian Steakhouses, however, I felt the salad bar was a hot mess in my opinion. The meat quality was subpar. The pão de queijo was a cheesy mess. The floors were sticky, and the floor mats appeared to not have been washed in a long time. The service was slow. The entertainment was cheesy. Sadly I can’t say anything positive about this place, and will never be returning.

Service was excellent-I was surprised that only one of the steaks served was tender, juicy and delicious-the house prime. The others were tough. Being a steak house, I would think ALL the steaks should be outstanding. Also, if only one person wanted the seafood, the whole table had to pay for the seafood-that is not right! Why not charge the dinners per person? We love your restaurant-just hoping this info helps you.

The food was awesome! Our server was really nice and informative, but didn’t confirm with us about which restaurant week offer we wanted. We were expecting certain meats to come around for the higher price, but they never did. Since we had the seafood shells on our plate we got charged for the higher one. We wanted the higher one but we’re later told that there needed to be a special thing on our table for the better meats to come around.... even though it’s what we wanted and wound up paying for. Mis-communication with the server and is I guess.

Great food and great value! Everyone was very nice and they kept bringing the delicious meats and were very good about bringing the ones we requested. Highly recommend it over Fogo do Chao because it has more variety and better flavors.

Meat was so delicious. Worked out well because we were close to the grill!
King crab was good and it was cut nicely. But they were more like queen crab. Overall I liked it. It had been about 7 years since I had been there. We use to go to lunch a lot when I worked downtown.

This is my second time at this restaurant. Yesterday, I came back with my boyfriend for my birthday and it never disappoints. I love the different varieties of delicious meat they bring to the table. They also have seafood and plenty of sides to choose from. The service is always excellent. The piano man was playing lovely music, which made our dinner more enjoyable, and was a nice addition to our dinner.
Make sure you come with an appetite because there is so much food to choose from and you definitely want to try a little of everything.

Always the place to go. Food is the best the biggest issue we had was the wait for the food. The first 30 min we only had 2 meat servers come to our table. We tried calling them as they passed but they just kept going. Not sure if they were just understaffed but we ended up there for 2 hours to get full longest i have ever been there. Some times we waited several minutes for drink refills. Other issue I contacted them before we went as i was taking my son. i was told the price was 50 % of adult and since it was restaurant week it would be $15 however they charged me $16.50 at the restaurant.

Every time I go I like Rei a little bit more. The customer service is above and beyond. The meat as always is really good. I’m so glad this place has been around for so long. Love all the smiles & the dancer 💃 too 😊

the staff was very welcoming. our reservation time was perfect, it was not too busy. we got served with about 90% on the menu until we had to flip to red. was well worth it. and the birthday singing with the complimentary dessert was priceless.

We had a good time, the meat servers were excellent and attentive, abundant food choices, pricing was fair. We gave Rei do Gado a try because we've been to Fogo de Chão quite a few times and wanted that same experience, but with the character of the Gaslamp Quarter. We enjoyed the local ambiance of the restaurant and enjoyed good service, but the meats (we must have tried over a dozen different offerings) just weren't as tender or flavorful as what we've had elsewhere, and for us this was all about the meat. The beef ribs and a couple others were really tender and flavorful, the rest were just too tough; and a lot of the offerings were cooked medium or more (although with patience we got plenty of medium rare). We would have paid more for better quality, more tender meat. The salad bar and seafood were delicious, expansive- careful not to overdo it or you'll ruin your appetite. A tip if you choose to go, which isn't a bad idea: the restaurant is expansive. There' a main area which we felt was the most energetic (live music, best vibe, etc.), a secondary room which was classy but not as happening or busy, and a third room further back which we didn't see. We sat in the secondary room- not by choice but because the hostess put us there. It wasn't till I used the restroom that I discovered the rest of the restaurant and decided that we would have liked to have been sat in the main room. Disappointed we weren't given an option as we had a reservation and it wasn't overly busy when we went. We're glad we tried it and agree we've checked that box and there's no need to go back.

First of all we didn’t eat there. We got there and health inspectors shut the place down. They wouldn’t tell us why. We had just made the reservation an hour prior to heading out and they sent a confirmation.
This was a very poor way to treat customers.

We paid for the premium option and we were not offered all the meats. We constantly had to request the waiter to bring us more options and they still didn't serve us what was promised. The worst part is that we were charged for the premium option.

Thank you! It was a special occasion, our son’s 21st birthday. Everything was delicious and service was awesome as always. We appreciated the kind gesture by accommodating our dad who is elderly and uses a walker and also for arranging the tables so we can all sit closer to the buffet table/near the front window. Our son thanks you for his birthday crème brûlée too! We left with our tummies full with yummy food and satisfied with another Rei do Gado Brazilian Steak House experience.
