The Regency Room - The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center
Opening in 1939, The Regency Room has remained at the heart of the Roanoke social and cultural experience. Superb dining experience. From the expertly food and gracious service to the ambiance and the great trip it was a fantastic evening. Thank you do much.
Food for New Years Eve lunch was great. Mahi was overcooked and dry, but probably due to sitting on the buffet for a while. Desserts were more limited than usual.
We remain disappointed that parking validation is no longer done in the dining room. For the price of lunch and/or dinner in the Regency Room, parking should be free with a paid restaurant receipt - or at least a reduced fee.
Little things mean a lot in today’s economy!
VERY disappointed in this recent experience, as our dinner was a 3 hour long process. The restaurant had several other tables, but not enough to have our service be so slow. It took approx. 30 minutes to get our bottle of wine and longer for our 1 foie gras appetizer. We were a table of 4. It was almost 2 hours before we received our entree. Our waitress was very good, so it did not appear to be her fault. The lamb was excellent and prepared wonderfully. Had we not at least had a delicious meal, the evening would have been a total waste.
I have been going to The Regency room for over 30 years and always had an amazing experience, so I was extremely disappointed. I took 3 other guest who have never been there before and it is doubtful that they will return. I am not sure if it is a COVID issue or poor management or short staffing or all 3. It will be quite awhile before or if I return. For the value and the food, there are other restaurants in the area that are more consistent with an excellent experience.
Brought the family there for my birthday. Classically great atmosphere. Service was a bit slow and the server would not stop adjusting his mask. Food was at best average.... charcuterie board had some prosciutto that was absolutely awful, and overall it was very generic I would’ve served better at home. Overall I expected ice better from this beautiful facility.
My wife and I were staying at the hotel while passing through town. While the service and the staff was very accommodating I think the food was very average including the cocktails from the bar. I was a little surprised and disappointed because I have stayed at this hotel before and dined at the other restaurant but that was closed because of a Covid outbreak. As far as the regency room is concerned, while I understand that they are probably shortstaffed and have to very efficiently run the kitchen I just do not feel that the food or experience with it was worth returning for. Again the service from the staff I thought was very good in the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice but I can’t give a raving review about the food or the cocktails that I ordered because they were anything but they were not horrible but they were not great.
Pretty disappointed this time. My party wanted to eat outside. I called all day getting voicemail to confirm and finally at 6 PM I reached the manager who was supposed to call me and confirm…
The manager Assured us that the heaters would be on but when she saw that they weren’t she said I’ll go check and then we never heard from her again so no heaters…
I assume because we were outside and the only party out there the service was exceptionally slow.
The food was good but cool because it obviously had sat in the kitchen for a while while they got around to us.
It will be a while before I go back…..
Both of our lamb entrees were too tough to cut and had to be sent back. We suggested that we would be glad to split one filet to replace the 2 lamb dishes. The filet we were brought was only about 3/4 of an inch thick and very medium, while another person at our table had a lovely several inch think and med rare filet. We had to wait forever for the food and the check. The waiter was very nice but was too busy to serve us properly.
Always a great place to celebrate our Anniversary. Pacing of meal could have been better. Missed all the trees this year. Overall great experience!
Hotel Roanoke Recency Room Christmas Day Grand Buffet was fabulous! So many items to choose from! Our server, Britney (sp), was excellent.
The place to be for Christmas Dinner! The holiday buffet at Hotel Roanoke is classic in everyway. The hotel is decorating to the nines and the spread is A+. Our server was fantastic and made us feel very special.
My only downside comment would be that 5 pm was the last seating. It's possible that was due to lack of staff (due to Covid) but I prefer dining later than that.
However, being able to take my glass of wine and finish the evening in the beautifully renovated lobby/Pine Room bar was the perfect end to a lovely Christmas.
Very glad to have this grand beauty in my home town.
Christmas Eve dinner
Wonderful experience - service and food were outstanding. A quiet, inviting atmosphere with very knowledgeable wait staff. Highly recommend!!
Birthday dinner included scallops on risotto with sweet potatoes. Absolutely delicious. Service excellent. Ended with gingerbread waffle, highly recommend!
Some of the food was cold. In my opinion, overpriced.
Truly magical evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel is a feast for the eyes at the holiday season as it’s decked out with greenery, lights and trees! The Regency Room is full of old school charm— white tablecloths, heritage China and silver. Our server Brittany D. Was exceptional. Her attention to detail, genuine joy for the service and celebrating our occasion were outstanding. She offered several items for us to taste in addition to the very generously portioned Chefs Menu. Of particular note, were the seafood bisque and theBananas Foster. Upon seeing the theater of the Bananas Foster being prepared I mentioned to my husband that I hoped to come back and order it. Within minutes she came by with some for me to try. Just one example of how truly attentive she was. At the end of the meal she graciously took our photo in front of the festive lobby tree. She also helped me make lunch reservations for later in the week for myself and my boys to experience the wonder of Regency Room at the holidays. My husband and I agreed that we were so impressed and glad we had chosen Regency for our celebration!
Definitely pay for the experience and environment . Food is so so.
Over 2 hour dinning experience
Waiter forgot side and additional wine
Ran out of sweet potato ice cream and subbed it with lemon curd ice cream without notification
I went out with my girlfriends for Christmas and I really enjoyed the experience. We went all out because it was a special occasion. The food is pricey but it is cooked to perfection. I wish we received bigger portion sizes, but I understood that it is supposed to be the "fancy meal" portion size. The food did take a while to come out but luckily they gave us bread to eat, but it also gave time for my friends and I to have a conversation without food in our mouths. If you're looking for a fancy experience while eating, this is definitely the place to go. I love that there was a live band to listen to as well!
A delicious dinner with impeccable service. We also enjoyed the quiet, relaxing atmosphere in the beautiful dining room. As an extra bonus, a great jazz combo played during dinner. A wonderful evening!
Very disappointed this year. Quality of food in the buffet was not up to par with previous years.
Service was excellent, but food was underwhelming. We had to wait a long time and food sickened one of us.
We have been coming to the Christmas/Sunday brunch for years. We always look forward to it. The buffet is amazing and our waiter Craig was awesome! Such a great personality and knows the exact time to come back to check on you. 😊
My 6 year old daughter and I visited for brunch before the Nutcracker and everything was phenomenal. The service, the decor, and of course, the food! We can’t want to come back next year and have this be a new part of our tradition!
Four of us enjoyed lunch at the Regency Room at Hotel Roanoke. The setting was festive and the food was abundant and delicious!
Always nice to be in this space for great service and good food. The only complaint is that the doors opened late (my reservation was at 11:30) and they did not begin to seat until close to 11:45.
My server was upbeat and attentive and the options for brunch was plentiful. Thank you!
Very nice dinner and ambiance with excellent food and service. Spoon bread was of consistency of cornbread which was the only disappointment. The lamb chops salmon salad seafood bisque and sides were great. Bananas Foster had added orange and lemon juice with brown sugar which carmalized into sweet Carmel chunks and ice cream and banana with liqueurs completed the perfect dessert. Waitress even had hotel valet run out to the shuttle as we were leaving to remind me I left my credit card and she came to the car to return it. A merry Christmas indeed!
Love Hotel Roanoke but especially during the Christmas season. It’s a GRAND experience!
Excellent service and good.
Last night’s dinner was great. The server was great. He brought us everything we requested. We did not order a dessert. That was probably a good thing for us. I didn’t really care for the choices. My best friend was wanting bread pudding. Bread pudding was not available. We love Hotel Roanoke and eat in the dinning room 2 or 3 times a year. We can always depend on excellent
My Mom loved it!!! I brought her for her 89th birthday. Thanks, great food, as always, and great service.
Food was great and service is exceptional.
Great service great food everything was perfect when lol be back
Delicious food and great atmosphere. Service was very good, too.
Wonderful choice for special occasions. The selection on the Sunday brunch buffet is great and the food quality is superb.
We really enjoyed our dinner. We will definitely go back!
Always my favorite place and it never disappoints
Always a pleasure, very much enjoy the live music back in dining room as well!
Birthday dinner for best friend
Awesome dinner with terrific service. Highly recommend.
Both of us had the "Chef's Table" meal. It was very disappointing. The main course of stuffed roast was seared on the outside and raw on the inside. Food was not hot, including the (far too salty) fried oyster appetizer. We have dined numerous times at The Regency Room and have always been very pleased with the meals. This time was a disappointing exception.
