Our waiter was very attentive. He always smiled as he approached. He kept our water glasses filled.
We went for our annual family ladies tea, and we had 4 adults and 5 children with ages ranging from 9-1. They set us up well and served us like royalty. Their staff was friendly and attentive. They had a vast range of food choices that satisfied all of our needs.
We celebrated my girlfriend's birthday with a couple of friends last week.. We had a wonderful Sunday brunch with delicious food, beautiful music and great conversation. Afterward, we sat by the fire in the lobby to talk some more. It's a great place to go.
We made a reservation for 10, not realizing that the full buffet doesn't start until 11:30. So we decided to stay and make the best of it. No one took our drink order for 15 minutes, so we finally just got up and went to the buffet. Around 10:30 they started clearing some things from the continental breakfast area, and at 10:40 it was totally gone and someone was taking fruit away as my husband was serving himself! They are completely closed down from 11:00-11:30, so I don't think it is necessary to clear it all out while people who paid are still eating.
We dined there on New Year’s Day and found the food to be delicious as usual. There was a difference we discovered that on holidays there are more dining tables placed on the floor necessitating the removal of the piano, omelette bar, and additional food serving rack.
It has the effect of changing the atmosphere making it seem more like an ordinary buffet where you don’t get to truly experience the setting in a truly stylish and casual setting.
However, the overall experience was excellent and I’ll be back, but not on a holiday.
We really enjoyed the breakfast, we have been making this a family tradition each year. The room we had was great especially for the kids.
I made reservations thru open table pretty far in advance.
I understand we had a large group but we were one of 2 tables in the large “side” room next to stacked chairs for a long time with SEVERAL tables open in the main room even thru our meal. The ambiance in the main room is special.. you can see the dancing/the Regency Room entertainers. I was hoping to share this special ambiance with my family.. not even close.. Disappointed.
The food and service meet our expectations. You pay a little more for the food because it is at Hotel Roanoke.
Our server Bobby And Jeff Lee are amazing workers
Cousins Annual Breakfast at Hotel Roanoke
For the last several years, it has been a tradition for my family to visit the Hotel for the Christmas buffet and tour the trees. We make reservations on the first day that the Hotel accepts them to ensure a great experience in the beautiful main dining room. After our most recent experience, however, we may not return. Last week, we arrived maybe 20 minutes early for our reservation only to be met with a surly hostess who ushered us off to a waiting area because our table wasn't ready. While waiting, we noticed four families come in, some without reservations, be immediately seated in the main dining room. At the time of our reservation, we inquired about the status of our table. The same hostess, with even more agitation dismissed us again, to the point that we asked another host. At this point, the hostess was quite unprofessional and complained about us to the other staff member in front of us. A few moments later we were rushed to the far side of the extended dining area, which is not as
nice. The table didn't have real chairs, in that they were obviously brought in from the conference rooms. I've sat in them many times for work meetings. All in all, the food was just okay, but the experience was marred by employees. This issue has also been addressed directly with management, which has not been addressed. If it goes unanswered, we will look at other places for this tradition. The standard that the Hotel Roanoke is known for was definitely not upheld! We were told at the time we arrived that our table was still occupied. The hostess indicated that our assigned table was in the main dining room. We should have been given the option to wait for the table in the main dining room or accept the option in the adjacent room.
The food was amazing. The staff was wonderful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Will definitely be back.
Excellent business meal location in Roanoke - set up to impress guests. Superb wine list.
Our group of 14 was treated in a timely and very courteous manner. All were pleased with their meal.
My favorite "special occasion" place to dine, and I have LOTS of special occasions!
Everything was excellent except the service was very slow. Apparently our waiter was doubling as the bartender - so there was a considerable wait at each stage; ie, order, drinks, starters, main course, deserts, and bill. The ambiance, food and drink were all excellent and the waiter was very personable but stretched too thin. All in all a very costly meal for a special occasion was spoiled by the slow service.
we were a group of ten and were blindsided by the price. when this was planned in November the Web site showed Sunday lunch buffet was $18. When we got our bills it was $30.
Also wait staff didn't inform us of all the choices and various locations of food offered. I ended up paying $30 for egg cassarole and diced potatoes and not fully ripe fruit. I didn't know of the sliced beef, etc. offered in the room in the back, past the dessert area.
This was a girls night out and even though we live in Roanoke it was fabulous to spend the night at the Hotel. We had a wonderful time...loved the Recency and Pine Rooms, we had a very large time!
Excellent place for lunch. One of the best. Desert was amazing. The only issues was my waiter was a little snippy. He seemed to be annoyed with us for staying a bit longer after we finished our lunch.
We went to the Hotel Roanoke for my son's 17th birthday. It was perfect! Our waiter, Drew, was fabulous. Everyone on staff made a fuss over my son. The food was excellent. The service impeccable. Atmosphere was just lovely. The entire family had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back for other special occasions - and its a 2 hour drive for us. Totally worth the drive.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. A nice place to go when you want to dress up just a bit beyond casual and enjoy a delicious, relaxed meal with someone special.
Very busy. Hard to get water coffee. But the waiter was apologetic. Seemed short handed. No one at the carving station and the inlet station was unmanned and a busy waiter had to round him up.
The food, service and ambiance was outstanding. Everyone in our party enjoyed the different food options and had no problem finding something scrumptious to eat. They made it a very special birthday for a member of our party.
excellent service take the time to make a reservation do coffee and desert. Coffee is French Press and very good. Try the peanut soup. be aware this is not eat and dash dinning. A good thing if you want an experience.
The host is a very, very good. Very professional. A rarity
The favorite place for our annual Day-After-Thanksgiving gathering.
Lovely from start to finish. Will definitely make this a part of every Roanoke visit.
Excellent food and service, I look forward to the next visit:)
Very disappointed. Scrambled eggs were cold; limited deserts; did not clear table plates between courses; did not offer additional coffee; bacon not cooked; started turning off lights and shut down food buffet prior to second 11:30 seating. The free breakfast at the Hampton Inns is actually better.
Our family had a multi-birthday celebration in the Virginia Room of the Regency Room and it was fabulous. The food and the service were outstanding. We had a variety of crab cakes, surf & turf, Appalachian Trout, Salmon and Filet. All were excellent. The service was remarkable - very knowledgeable staff dressed in uniform, checking in on us and making excellent suggestions. We ended the evening with Bananas Foster Flambé (Thanks, Alex). A very memorable evening.
Everything was super nice. The only down fall was the food took a long time to come out after ordering, about 30 to 40 mins. We were not the only ones. Seemed everyone elae around us had to wait awhile for their food as well.
Amazing hospitality and gracious staff from the host to the busboy. Food was very good and came in large portions. Would definitely go to this lovely restaurant again.
The best place in Roanoke for Sunday brunch hands down.
Everything was outstanding bout The Regency Room. A first class meal!
Six of us were celebrating a special occasion. We each enjoyed our meal and would return again if the occasion offered itself.
Without any warning a newspaper photographer was taking photos of diners with the permission of the management. When confronted the photographer was threatening and rude. This was an invasion of our privacy and spoiled the special occasion. That management would invite and/or allow this was thoughtless. The food selection was limited. The quality of the food was average and some dishes were not promptly refreshed. I've dined here numerous times over the years, and the quality has steadily declined. The brunch is in NO way worth the $30 per person.
Excellent food, great service (Brody) and maître d'
Delicious food, elegant atmosphere, great service
Great food echos to the past but modern menu well presented
The water was great, always hot coffee and plenty of it. Omelet was delicious and the brazilian cook making it was very friendly!
Plenty of different food! Best chocolate cake; nice and light. Carving station was excellent, beef especially paired with the mild sauce was awesome. The scones were delicious!
I didn't get to the shrimp station but will next time!
Food was good, wait staff was great! Very much enjoyed our experience here
