We ate here about 6 months ago. The food was delicious. I order shrimp and grits. This time everything was different. My shrimp and grits were not even the same looking meal. My mother's pepperoni rolls were burnt on the bottom. They did re make them. The Mac and cheese was ice cold as soon they were brought to the table. It's going to be a while before we are back. I'm not sure what changed but it was disappointing. I hope that maybe we're just there on a off night or something.
We are not from the area but ate at Bourbon Prime prior to attending Mountain Stage at the University of West Virginia. We both had fish as the main course and both dishes were very tasty and well presented. We ate quite early so the restaurant was uncrowded and very quiet at that time. The service was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful in answering all our questions and in giving us helpful directions when we left.
Burnt pizza was served. Highly touted soup was mediocre. Service was inattentive.
We went for Easter Brunch as we have enjoyed dinners at Bourbon Prime and expected similar quality. The Leg of Lamb was excellent. Other than that the food was very disappointing given the price and prior dining experiences. More what I would expect at a cafeteria style restaurant.
Our major complaint was the automatic gratuity of 22%! First of all there were only 2 of us in our group. Secondly, it was a buffet and the waitress essentially kept our tea glasses filled and took away dirty dishes...not worth 22% tip on an already expensive buffet.
Very disappointed in Easter brunch. Several food items were empty, and what was there was cold. Setting was in a loud banquet hall. Music was very nice. Will not go back anytime soon for a buffet.
Morgantown is not known for great fine dining so Bourbon Prime is a welcome addition. It is a good spot to take a business contact. The service was superb. The salmon was very tasty though the sides that came as part of the entree were paltry so make sure you order some extras.
Very clean, quiet & amazing food. Wonderful service.
For the price we expected a nicer setting. It was very small and completely open to the hotel area. Two of our four steaks were not cooked correctly. When paying $34 for a steak it should be cooked correctly.
What food we got was quality! However for 36 dollars you think they could give you a side! We got a chunk of meat and that's all! This isn't New York City the price far exceeds the quality....would it have killed them to give us a chunk of bread or a salad with our steak? We were not aware that it came with absoloutely nothing but meat!
Food and service were amazing, must try dinning experience!
Always great meal and service.
We made a reservation through Open table and were seated immediately. The restaurant is large and nicely decorated. We ordered the Oysters to start, those definitely were not my favorite. However we ordered the scallop entire that was a special that evening and they were cooked perfectly!!! While we ordered some of the more expensive items from their menu, there are entrees at all price points from soups and sandwiches to seafood. The menu is fairly limited, but there's something for everyone.
Excellent cocktails and delicious unique meal in one of the better hotel restaurants I’ve eaten in. Would definitely recommend.
Wife and I were looking for a new place to try. Bourbon Prime was a phenomenal choice!
Nice restraint adds sophistication, i.e. one page menu, limited decor but interesting architecture and open space atmosphere. Food is thoughtfully and creatively put together, mostly with success. Focus on steak and good whiskey validates the name. A great, special occasion experience. Inclusion of local food and artisans is a plus.
Delish food for a ‘hotel’ restaurant. Great services and friendly wait service. Attentive and knowledge about the menu.
Visited here during my last visit to Morgantown, I was staying at the hotel and decided to give it a shot. I’ll just start by saying that the staff did an amazing job, our server did a tremendous job. My girlfriend and I were pleased with the quality of the food, but I do not feel that it was worthy of the price. Perhaps I would’ve been better served not choosing a steak as it does not come with a side, simply a garnish of two small roasted carrots and a roasted parsnip. The steak was slightly over cooked but nothing egregious, and was overall pretty good but nothing extraordinary, I selected the peppercorn sauce to accompany expecting something in the vain of an au poirve but instead got a light gray with a few peppercorns I was disappointed but perhaps I should’ve relied on our server so I cannot hold that against them. Overall the food quality was not in line with the price point I expected more, I realize the prices may have a lot to do with it being in the hotel, but I would not recommend this restaurant unless you wanna enjoy the convenience of the location as you stay in the hotel.
The special filet $33. was excellent. The cowboy steak $36. was good not excellent The noise from the bar got louder n louder as the night went on. At 8:00 on a Saturday night you would expect a lot of noise.
This review is based on our experience on Valentines Day 2019. I must mention that this was a special menu and not the daily menu, however based on our overall experience we will not try the restaurant again. Service was good no complaints there staff was friendly and a provide a good experience. Food...food was just OK, I had the Manhattan Filet and to be honest the filet at Outback is better, the biggest issue was the portion size. You know there is a problem when you are almost done with your entree and you are wondering if you have anything in the fridge at home to eat when you get there. I mean seriously who did you give the other 2/3's of my filet too? Cost.... I know it was Valentines Day but come on for the micro portions we received but you seriously cost yourselves a return visit.
Overcooked steak and sea bass. I understand its Valentines Day but the price for what you get is sub par. Will not be planning to return.
We have been here numerous times....every time our food and service have been extraordinary. I’ve read that people have had bad service. This surprises me. Maybe they just happened to catch somebody having a bad day. That’s not an excuse, but it does happen. But overall our experience has always been great.
Very nice restaurant in Morgantown. Enjoyed a special celebration and would definitely go back.
The food was pretty good but the service was one of the worst experiences we have ever had!

Absolutely the best steak I have ever eaten! The brussell sprouts are delicious as well and the corn muffins on the warm cast iron skillet is a nice touch.
Susan, we appreciate your endorsement for our steaks. Our culinary team takes great pride in cooking our cuts to your preference. Allow me to suggest our locally raised Pork Chop and Short Ribs for your next visit. We hope to serve you again soon!
The staff was wonderful and so was the meal. We will definitely return.
Thank you for joining us to celebrate the New Year! We're truly grateful for your feedback and your patronage. We have another special event menu planned for Valentine's Day, and we hope to see you again!
While our food and the service were very good, I felt that the prices were a bit high. The current trend to price an entrée at a rather high price, then charge extra for salads, etc. puts this restaurant out of reach for many, especially senior citizens. $11 for a salad is rather absurd. We could not have afforded to have dinner there if we had not had a coupon from the Enjoy book. I would like to return to the restaurant, but, even with our huge Social Security raise this year, we may not be able to afford it.
Took forever to get our cocktails - pretty poor. Glad we celebrated graduation at a different restaurant last night. We were pretty disappointed and won’t be back.
Service was outstanding. Our server really knew her menu. The bourbon list was very good as well. Try the Country Roads from Woodford Reserve. It is custom made for this restaurant
Great service, food was very tasty and arrived quickly! Large group in bar area was very loud but overall good experience, will come again!
Very disappointed with menu items, quality of food, and limited choices. Do not expect to have prime rib as the name would suggest.
Will not be a returning customer for future date nights or when looking for an upscale restaurant.
Went for brunch & was disappointed. Buffet was not filled up & ala carte service very slow. Lots & lots of dirty tables, debris on floor, etc. The entire operation was in the weeds the entire time that we were there which was far too long.
Service for drinks were slow For dinner due to the busy bar after the football game. Service for customers eating should take priority.
Food was good overall - competitive prices in comparison to other “high dollar” steak houses. I got the NY strip which was very good. think the server you get will make/break the experience. Great bourbon list, mediocre wine list. The shareable sides are small - please confirm with the server of the sizes of each side. Great overall meal and experience!
Unfortunately our fillet mignon was absolutely tasteless. The restaurant said they wouldn't charge us but then my credit card was charged anyway.
Folks looking for an upscale restaurant with wonderful food, good service and an ambience that allows conversation and ambience should look elsewhere. While Bourbon Prime has absolutely wonderful food and a wait staff that is the best, the ambience is terrible! It is terrible because the recent renovation when Mariott took over turned the bar into a Sports Bar with the addition of 5 or 6 big screen televisions that flow over into the restaurant. Anyone looking for a sports bar would be quite happy here. But I doubt if most sports bar clientelle would want to pay the prices that Marriott asks.
There are no boundaries between the bar and the restaurant. I went to the bar for a drink and the noise levels with screaming patrons rooting for a favorite team was really too much. I thought by going over to the restaurant side and asking for a table by the window wall, as far as I could from the lounge would help. But it did not. I talked to several other people who shared my frustration and who seemed resolved never to return again.
One does not go to a Marriott and expect to find sports patrons pounding their tables, climbing up on their chairs, and screaming at the televisions at the top of their lungs.
It's really quite disappointing. As I said earlier, if it was not for the excellent food and the wonderful wait staff (Owen and Lucas) I would consider the evening a disaster.
I have eaten at Bourbon Prime on many occasions, whenever my travels take me through Morgantown. I stay at the Marriott in which the restaurant is located. Long before Marriott took over the hotel, I also stayed there when it was simply known as Waterfrontplace.
The renovations done by Marriott are wonderful...the bedrooms, the lobby, the bar and the restaurant. But, the problem which I had this weekend was the fact that the restaurant atmosphere and ambience was destroyed by the proximity of the bar and the numerous flat screen televisions. Sadly, the bar and restaurant have both been turned into one huge sports bar. The clientele at the bar spilled over into the restaurant and they were more than enthusiastic for the team(s) playing on television. Some of the folks were standing on their chairs, screaming at the top of their lungs. I had invited two individuals who had never been there before to meet me there for supper, promising them a wonderful evening with delicious food. Well, the food was delicious and the table servers I had on both nights there (Lucas and Owen) were wonderful. But the atmosphere was horrible. At times, the noise level was so very loud the three of us were not able to communicate at the table! We just sat there in silence, shaking our heads.
The hotel did formerly have the bar in the restaurant, but it did not have big screens all over the place. There was a second bar down the hall for that purpose. The former restaurant offered a quiet atmosphere for conversation.
The food offerings and pricing are on the upscale side. So, too, are the personnel. But the ambience and noise levels are about as pitiful as they can get.
It's a huge disappointment.
Great food - NY Strip and Filet. Cornbread was excellent. Good drinks and decent prices.
Food was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend the she-crab soup, any of the steaks, the truffle fries and the cheddar grits. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive.
The kitchen was very slow. We came in at opening, ordered by 5:15 and did not have our entrees until after 6pm. This is literally the only negative. The server was apologetic and the food was worth the wait, but if you have somewhere to be and time is an issue this may not be the place.
Drinks were good. Solid cocktails. I recommend the Moscow Mule.
Ambience was OK. I didn't give it higher because you're still staring at a hotel lobby, which takes you a bit out of the moment.
Overall this was solid though and I would return.
Not what we hoped for my sons 19th birthday and called about this and nothing happy won’t go back
We waited 50 minutes before our food came out. It was just fair. Ambiance is not great.
