Great meal and service!
Management was incredibly rude
Lunch was delicious. Clam chowder was creamy with great taste and seasoning. Bacon on top was a bonus. Shrimp Po Boy on wrap was great! Well stuffed and tasty. Swordfish sandwich was delicious. Perfectly cooked.
Even though it was a slow Monday, the dining room was loud. It is a loud room. The oysters were devine; beet salad delicious and the mussels were the best since Brussels.
I’d only recommend this place for the raw seafood bar. Everything else was fair at best. My husband is over 6 ft and we ordered multiple dishes and they put us at a tiny table that was super wabbly. We had to ask to switch to a bigger space. My wine glass and utensils were also very dirty (so gross). I’d rather avoid chain restaurants, but Red Lobster would more likely be the better value! Overall this place has gone downhill since the last time I’ve been in.
We went to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday, just 4 people. The waitress was very nice but I think that the host and hostess fell a little short. One of our dishes (the lobster risotto) came out a little cold. I understand that it was busy, but a restaurant like this should be prepared for a busy night. Also, I dislike that the happy hour is limited to the bar area, so you cannot order from it if you are in the dining area. We asked for a table near the bar but even with a reservation they couldn't accommodate us. I did mention that we were celebrating a birthday in my reservation but they seemed unaware of it until I mentioned it. I guess I will have to be much more detailed when I make a reservation.
The location is near by with plenty of parking. The appetizer selection is very extensive for a seafood restaurant. All though I have some favorites, they are always coming up with new dishes that I try. Great place to take out of town guests for a nice dinner that is close to airport and some of the better hotels in our area.
We come here often--ever since it was first called REAL SEAFOOD (long before the renovation). We have had some wonderful servers, but none better than Colleen, who is a gem. I wish we could come on nights when she is there all the time, but we travel from NYC to Vermont and have little choice. The food is great, the oysters superb and we look forward to returning in a few weeks. (When Colleen is not there, we hope to see Jennifer, who is also one of our favorites!)
Great food and service!
Someone from the restaurant brought us water then it took a half an hour to get a drink. The waiter who was a child kept flirting with my date. He was shaking our hands. Then our food came out cold. The fish needed to be deboned and my scallops were cold. I won’t be going back anytime soon. I left a tip however im not sure why.
Food was tasty this time around. Was not very good last summer but looks like they turned things around.
Affordable, fish was fresh, service attentive but not over bearing. Hot buns were great - warm, fresh yeasty. Fish & Chips - a little heavy on the "chips" and a little light on the "Chips" but crisp and flavorful. Calamari presentation was imaginative and tasty. Festive ambiance, a place for fun dinning.
Every time we return lately we are more impressed. They've added a lot of new items to the menu, so you will not get bored. They have a new pecan (almond?) encrusted grouper with a leek cream sauce over mashed potatoes. I opted to skip the nuts and just had the grouper grilled but with the rest of the ingredients. It was delicious! The leek sauce had very thin leek frizzles on top. One of the other guests fish dishes came out cold, but the server brought it back in immediately and came right back out with it the appropriate temp. It was a very busy night (Friday in Lent) so no points lost for one cold dish. The other dishes were great. Staff is great about accommodating changes to the menu.
Truly enjoyed the quality, dinner, and ambiance.
Fish was very fresh.
Services was great.
We had a great dinner. The chowder is amazing and their salads are beautiful and fresh. We can also recommend the cioppino. Reel Seafood is a restaurant that thankfully still serves complimentary bread and it's a highlight unto itself. The rolls come piping hot with three accoutrements -- olive oil/vinegar, whipped butter, and then a special butter (this night, it was blackberry and disappeared quickly). The service is wonderful. The ambiance is comfortable and friendly, but nice for a special occasion.
Valentines Day Dinner!
Reel Seafood was a real pleasure to dine at. I had the LeGrande special - shrimp, haddock and scallops with beurre blanc. The entree was perfectly cooked and tasted very fresh. My wife had fish and chips which had a lovely light crust and an excellent flavor.
Great time had by all on Valentines Day!!! Had lobsters and they were cooked to perfection! Excellent service.
Enjoyed the food, lots of gluten free options, great fresh seafood. My daughter attends college in the area and I will go back whenever we visit her.
This was our first visit to Reel Seafood and we will not return.
We had a reservation, seated late.
The main room was way too bright with lighting, so we sat in a smaller room which was much nicer, but not a lot of seating. The menu was very expensive for the amount of food included, only 1 side dish. My husband's fish was very dry and he needed to ask for sauce to flavor it.
The kitchen was backed up and the server apologized a few times, but never offered to give us anything complimentary during our wait & we had asked, since she kept asking us if we wanted anything.
We will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Had coconut shrimp and it was burnt. Also had lobster Mac and cheese, but couldn’t find the lobster.
Absolutely loved the food, the staff was very nice, the food was done in a timely manner, it was clean and I recommend it to anybody for any occasion!!
I was in the Albany area for business and picked this restaurant based on the online reviews. I was a bit disappointed. The clam chowder should be labeled "potato chowder" (potato pieces were numerous and cut too large; you had to really search to find a piece of clam). For my entree, I ordered the sesame tuna. The waiter said "we serve it rare, is that OK with you?". I said of course. The presentation of the dish was excellent and the flavors were superb BUT, the tuna was cooked MEDIUM at best! So, food not bad, but they have work to do to get above 3 stars.
Very pleased with our entire experience. Staff was courteous and attentive. Food was on point. Highly recommend the raw bar. Outstanding oysters!!!. Quiet and pleasant dining atmosphere. Would highly recommend and will definitely return!
Very nice meal. I don't like to write reviews and usually get bored reading them, I'll make mine short.
Appetizers: steamed clams were cooked perfectly, king crab legs also cooked perfectly and were delicious, clam chowder and butternut bisque outstanding. We were starving. We also love to cook which is why we rarely eat out.
Entrees: Diver scallops for wife, I got the almond encrusted grouper. I picked my entree from looking at the table near us. They all got that entree and it looked marvelous.
The scallops were fantastic, the grouper was ok. It was missing flavor but was good. To me it looked like it was going to be awesome, so I was a little disappointed.
We had wine for drinks and water.
Dessert: tiramisu, outstanding! Two things about this night were fascinating
1. The amount of food two folks our age can consume
2. How really terrific everything was, from soup to nuts as the saying goes.
Our server was top notch, very attentive and pleasant. Wonderful!
We decided to give the place a try, my wife made reservations using open table and to my surprise it worked perfectly.
The whole experience was terrific.
Food was excellent, server could have been a bit more attentive.
Delicious food, beautiful decor :)
The sea bass and the tuna were delicious. The combination of flavors were fabulous. Our server Kristine was very attentive and you could tell she enjoys working at Reel Seafood.
Not only was our food cold when it arrived but my chilean sea bass was not cooked properly. The waiter was helpful in assisting me with a replacement in which I choose the stuffed haddock. When it arrived, all I saw was a plate full of bread stuffing dumped on top of the fish. Not wanting to send it back, all that was worth eating was the fish. Our waiter Peter appeared to be a little frazzled and rushed as he worked the room. Felt he should have at least asked if we needed anything else before running off. Overall, this was my 2nd time eating here and my last. What should have been a good date night for my fiance and I, ended up being a disappointment.
It was simply awful.
The fish was excellent, the rest of the experience was poor at best.
Real Seafood has been a go-to staple for years. Great venue for a business gathering. Top quality and consistency. Very professional waitstaff. Central Location, easy parking, etc.
Can't miss with this place.
Great salad and bread. Seafood was fresh. My only complaint was that my Brussels sprouts were dry.
We went for New Year's Eve. With reservations we still waited 15 minutes for our table. As a couple we were seated in the loudest part of the restaurant, despite the fact I chose date night while making the reservation. I have never felt so rushed at a restaurant before. Once seated we irserrd wine, an appetizer and our entree. We had just eaten one piece of our Appetizer and the entree arrived. From being seated to entree, no lie, 20-30 minutes. The seafood lasagne my husband had was really good.
The almond encrusted Grouper I had, left a lot to be desired. It was over cooked, the sauce was bland and the mashed potatoes were an after thought. At least the raw Oyster selection was fantastic as usual. Our waitress was great. It'll be awhile before we go back.
Server was well prepared for the New Years Eve crowd. As was the kitchen. The food was delicious and timed well. A reliable and consistent, quality meal.
We had a very nice New Years Eve dinner. The chef made up a pasta and clams for my wife even though it wasn't on the menu. We will be back soon.
I expected more in terms of flavor. The food was fairly bland and my husband’s salmon was dry. Table was very small and it was essentially like we were dining with the table next to us. It is unfortunately likely that we won’t be back.
As always, just a wonderful place to celebrate. The lobster risotto never disappoints, and the LeGrande Special (haddock, shrimp and scallops) was perfectly prepared. A special way to end the year.
Great Food and Great Service and has improved over past year with creative cuisine
WE HAD A NEW YEARS EVE BRUNCH. THEY HAD A LIMITED BRUNCH MENU WHICH WAS VERY CREATIVE BUT I PREFER THE REGULAR BRUNCH MENU. THE MUSIC WAS A JAZZ GROUP WHICH WE ENJOYED VERY MUCH.
Excellent food and atmosphere. We really enjoyed our time here. I haven’t been here in a while. Seemed updated and popular place. We will definitely go back again!
