Reel Seafood Co Ratings and Reviews
Food was ok this time. Been there once before and the food was great and the waitress made the experience lots of fun. This time we had decent food and decent service. But not great. Had to ask a couple of times for salt, pepper, lemons. Asked for a couple of extra rolls, but they were not given. There was not a lot of meat in the lobster which is not something they can control, but for the most part the food was good. I agree with others that the lobster mac and cheese is so rich it is amost too much. It is expensive for a family and we were celebrating a special occasion. It would be nice to feel like we were there celebrating a special occasion.
My DH and I have been here previously for our anniversary. This time we were celebrating a birthday with our young adult children. Sarah, our waitress, was very personable and offered suggestions. We had reservations but arrived half-hour early and were promptly seated. We did have to wait for our daughter to drive up from college. Food was excellent and fresh. It is pricey but worth the trip for special occasions. Have only been there for dinner so can't comment on lunch and/or bar activity.
With so many "fish" places, Reel Fish is the real deal!! We come back again.
The service was great but the food was not. Several mains came out with luke-warm proteins. The value for money is not there. We suspected that some of the fish had been frozen as the texture was off and they had a fishy taste. There are better and more reliable choices in Albany.
The Happy Hour special appetizers were outstanding. Both meals terrific, fish and chips were a match for any coastal town. The waitstaff at the bar and table side engaged us in conversation and we were warmly greeted on our arrival. definitely an enjoyable experience. Many more menu items we are looking forward to trying.
This was our first visit. Our table was ready when we arrived. My swordfish was cooked properly, not dried out. My fiancee's crusted sole was way over cooked. Our server, although nice and pleasant, wasn't very attentive. I don't know if if she was overwhelmed with table or what what was going on but we would have preferred to have her visit more often. If it wasn't for the fact that the food took a while to come out I would have had them replace the sole. We spoke to the management before we left and they were very receptive and apologetic. Since I already paid for the bill they gave us a respectable gift certificate to come back and give them a second chance. We will do that since we are seafood lovers and the menu has a respectable selection of items.
Reel Seafood has very good seafood and the service is excellent as well as friendly. My husband and I visited for a casual lunch. The server brought us their wonderful warm rolls with a trio of olive oil, butter and berry spread. I had the swordfish with broccoli and my husband had the cajun chicken and shrimp oscar. Both entrees were delicious and the fish and chicken were moist and tender. The portions are a bit small, but were certainly adequate for lunch. The restaurant was quite empty and therefore more quiet and enjoyable than the usual more noisy atmosphere. Overall, Reel Seafood is a good choice for fresh fish in our area a certainly worth a visit.
We had a lovely meal and the numerous gluten-free options marked on the menu was much appreciated. It was, however, fortunate that I questioned the garnish on the lobster tail in the lobster risotto. Turned out the restaurant knew the item as garnished was in fact not g-f but the menu had not been corrected and the server had not been made aware of this. Without the bread crumb garnish the dish was great!
We have been going to real seafood for many years. Every time we go we are amazed at the level of service. The food selections are amazing and genuine creations of fusions that the chef comes up with. The drinks are above average of any place I've ever gone
The food was great and our waitress was wonderful. Lobster risotto was delicious (lobster abundant and perfectly cooked). Nephew got the lobster bake which was terrific. Again lobster perfectly cooked and the clams were so tender. Even my non-seafood loving nephew was happy as he was able to get a good steak. I plan to go back again soon and have already recommended to friends.
We have been to the Reel Seafood a number of times... and this time was VERY disappointing. The service was slow. The Lobster Bake special was overcooked, and everything was bland and mushy. The lobster had a weird bleachy taste. The scallops were over cooked to a rubber consistency. The apps came and then we waited, waited 40 minutes for dinner ...
When the bill came it was wrong and we were overcharged with an app we did not order, we waited 15 minutes and when the bill came back it was still wrong with a duplicate charge for an app we did order. It was over 30 minutes to get a correct bill. It was not worth the price.
We dined here in March for my husband's birthday dinner. Had a great meal. Our next visit was for Father's Day dinner and we noticed immediately that the menu was totally different and the prices were much higher. When we mentioned to our server about the change in menu she told us that there were new owners which explained it. The food was excellent and we were very pleased with our meals and the server was very attentive. They do have a reward program and we received money off of our bill from our March visit. That is a big plus. We might consider going back here for a special occasion, but once a year!
I went there for Father's Day to treat my sweetie for a great dinner. I have been there many times taking my group of girlfriends for lunch. Never disappointed! The staff are exceptionally welcoming. The waitresses are excellent. I had Bethany this time waiting on us and she couldn't have been more accommodating. Carolyn greeted us and she was great. We got the table we requested via the reservation made through Open Table. I love a place who will de-shell my full lobster!!!! Food was fantastic and fresh. Big change from many years ago when I wouldn't be able to say it was such a super restaurant. It is truly just that now! You can purchase vouchers through Groupon and there are several coupons available in the clipper for lunch and dinner, except on holidays. If you want a delicious seafood meal or great ahi tuna salad and more, definitely go to Reel Seafood.
