Reel Club Ratings and Reviews
Went for valentines day with bae. it was ash Wednesday, so we picked a seafood place. They gave us a nice booth where we could see the whole room. There were more families and kids than I'd expect at a nice restaurant on valentines day, but suburbs. Our waiter was awesome. We did 1 sushi roll, split a crab cakes, split fish tacos and then sea bass. food was amazing. didn't drink so pretty inexpensive. great date nite.
Our waiter, Dante, struck a great balance between attentive helpfulness and giving us space for a private, relaxing and intimate dinner. The fish and sides were nicely prepared. Basic items, deliciously but not overly, spiced. Menu was a bit pricey (cocktail $11, no entrees under $20 but all included a side and nothing was over $50) but the final bill didn't break the bank.
I have visited the Reel club about 4 times now. I can honestly say, the food and service is consistent.. Great food , sushi was excellent, the gumbo is some of the best I’ve had, from any local restaurant.. I highly recommend have your fish dish prepared Greek style. I could go on and on. Our server Kim was was very nice. I will be back again. I’ve heard the Sunday brunch is awesome. I’ll have to try it soon.
The food was great. I ordered the Ahi Tuna (I’m a sucker for it) and my girlfriend ordered the Mahi. The fish was excellent and I’m picky about seafood. The drinks were good, not great. All in all we had dinner and drinks for two, plus their butterscotch cremé brûlée for under $100 pre-tip.
The one knock: being 23 years old, we felt as if our server didn’t pay as much attention to us/treat us the same because we’re younger (and therefore, in theory probably not great tippers). But I wouldn’t let that stop me from going back again.
This is one of our very favorite restaurants. Although it is pretty far from our home in the Southwwest suburbs, we think it is worth the trip. Great wine menu, fantastic & delicious seafood menu. We are not fans of the chef's cheese filled rolls, but our server offered warm sliced ciabatta bread instead which was perfectly delicious. Overall, a wonderful experience as always.
Had not been here for about a year. Our server was ok, but overall service was a bit slow. Food was overseasoned. Could not taste the lobster in the lobster tail. We will probably go back on a slower night and ask for no seasoning. Used to love this place so we're willing to give it another shot.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Atmosphere was great, the noise level was on the low end and the light were perfectly dimmed. Service was excellent, we had a very sweet waitress. As for the food.....
that was the best part, I had bacon wrapped Parmesan shrimp with mashed potatoes. My wife had two different sushi rolls. Very tasty dishes!
Service was terrible and slow. Never received the soup that was ordered. But of course it was on the bill, along with a salad that was never ordered nor received. Server didn’t smile at all, and ignored our table even when it was obvious we needed attention. Been here a few times before and service was decent. It’s a shame that I will never taste their sea bass again, because it was good, but I won’t spend my hard earned money on a pricy restaurant that will treat you like crap and try and overcharge you.
Came here to try a new restaurant. We were early to grab a drink at the bar. It was busy so we had to stand for awhile. No one asked us our order. We eventually got to sit at the bar where the bartender ignored us. He was in the weeds and they seemed HIGHLY understaffed, especially if they are always that crowded. There were no servers at the tables in the bar (that I could find) so he had to keep leaving the bar to take orders. Everyone at the bar had empty drinks. He finally started taking orders, but only 1 set of people at a time. Three couples sat next to me and got their orders first. At one point he looked right at me, I looked right at him ready to give my order and he looked away and asked the couple next to us what they wanted. After 20 minutes of being ignored we left and found somewhere else to eat altogether. Terrible.
First time at Reel Club and must say upfront that we will be back. Food was wonderful, appetizer of tuna & salmon sashimi, and mains the sea scallops on mushroom couscous and the trio plate (crab cake, shrimp wrapped in bacon, and scallops) both of which were really good. Cooked perfectly and very flavorful, the only small negative comment I have is that the crab cake was not nearly as good as other dishes - do not recommend this dish. Wine list is fairly limited, but you can probably find something to match your pallet. Service was quite good, but not very personable.
As usual, the food was great, and the waitress was very attentive. Even though she had several tables, she kept checking on us, and made sure we had everything we wanted, and more. We love the atmosphere at the Reel Club, and their cocktails are excellent, too.
We have had brunch and dinner at Reel Club several times. Some groups of as many as 8, and last night, just 3 of us. David was our server, and he made the whole meal enjoyable. Seafood and fish menu is outstanding. I had crunchy haddock, a side of grilled asparagus (enough for 3), and the other two in our party had grilled ahi tuna and crab cakes. Excellent! Especially the crab cakes. They're pricey and worth it.
