Reel Club Ratings and Reviews
On our way to Ann Arbor and wanted to stop in Chicago at a nice place and use lettcue entertain cards since they have so many more selections than Minneapolis. Was in a very crowded mall hard to find parking. Tried calamari again this was excellent. Meal were good but not spectacular had seared halibut seared part very good other wise kind of blah rice and aspargus good .Son had sushi thought he has had better but was good.
Menu resembles Shaws a bit but food & service not nearly as good. Waitress was not very attentive. Crab legs were not heated throughout so cold with hot spots; shell was buttery, and attempt at pre-cutting was sloppy so it was messy. Scallops very small (but tasty). Brussels sprouts were undercooked; very firm & green. Husbands steal (ribeye) was fine.
We celebrated my dad’s 75th birthday on a boisterous Friday night. There have been some pretty significant changes to the menu over the last year but one thing that remains a constant is the service. It’s excellent. The crunchy munchy shrimp is a favorite. The seafood is always hot, fresh with no “fishy” smell or taste. We also love our dessert options with half or full portion sizes available.
We enjoyed a lite dinner while we watched the World Series. It was a slow nite and so it was very relaxing. We sat in the bar, and the bartender was funny & attentive (but not "too"). We had the blackened Mahi sandwich with spinach & mashed potatoes in stead of fries. Delicious - and a great evening.
My wife and I have been to reel for lunch many times, but this trip was for ,in my case, the brunch
We came from Des Plaines but that brunch was worth the drive. Tons of all sorts of seafood.
My wife ordered from the lunch menu and had the salmon, and hasn't stopped raving about it since.
👎 like a lot of LEYE restaurants, Reel Club is hit or miss. Tonight it was a huge miss. The spicy tuna roll my husband had was fine, but it’s pretty hard to screw up a roll like that. Ditto the chopped salad, which arguably was the best thing about our meal. Our seafood, halibut and a combo plate of crab cake, bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops were mostly overdone. The planting of the food is uninspired and unappetizing. Slopped on the plate with no enhancements or embellishments. They are particularly stingy with the lemons that come with the entrees. One tiny little sliver. They do know how to make a good martini 🍸 though.
First time trying this restaurant and it will not be the last. Great service from Chris G. My husband and I went for their happy hour and they have great selections. We tried the Acapulco sushi, bruschetta, and crispy shrimp were great. Skip the fries. They have the best popovers!! Can't wait to go back.
The Reel is a probably the best kept secret of Sunday Brunch spots in the Chicagoland area. Such a delightful place with the perfect ambiance and setting. The food on the buffet was plentiful and excellent. Our waiter was the best. He kept the mimosas flowing and was so cordial. This is now our go-to spot for brunch!
Our server was very attentive and polite. The Mahi dish was absolutely delicious. We were promptly seated, and the wait time for our food was surprisingly short. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s looking for great seafood cooked to perfection.
-ordered the 8oz Oscar fillet - what showed up was not a filet but likely a NY strip or some other cheaper cut
- red wine is served warm not chilled
- no steak knives with the $50+ steaks that are served here
- not great service although restaurant was slammed
Bottom line is this place is just as expensive as wildfire / cap grille but lacks the details of those places and getting a NY strip instead of a filet is less than ideal. Skip this place for the money and go elsewhere
Food was average. Prices were too high for such average food. Waitress miss informed the special that I ordered which was unfortunate. I didn't get what I thought I was getting and she just brushed it off that she hasn't had much sleep lately. WHAT? no can I get you something else for my mistake, no nothing for bringing something that I didn't want. Would not go back. Drinks were way to strong or maybe the mix was strong.
