Redwater Rustic Grille - South Ratings and Reviews
We had a perfect evening. Our server Emery was a total pro and was just amazing at her job. From answering menu questions to her wine and cocktail recommendations, she was super friendly and knowledgeable. We’ve been here before so we knew what to expect food wise, but it still surpassed our expectations. This place just can’t be beat for value when you do the math: ambience + service + terrific food = 😀😀😀
Had a very poor experience at RedWater Macleod Trail this past weekend.
We were sat next to a window and were frozen the entire dining experience.
We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, one of our favourites here, only to find out that the chef had now decided to put green peppers (something conveniently left off the menu) in the dish. Told the server, she said oops, that's too bad.
I ordered the pork chop, medium. It came practically pink. The seasonal vegetable were four sad yellow beets.
She ordered the salmon. It came with an uninspired glop of white rice and four sad yellow beets. The plating looked like something I would make in a rush on a Tuesday night at home.
Skipped desert, because, well why would we stay any longer?
Well the crispy Calmari wasn't crispy and overly salted not the same high calibre as previous Calimari. I'm not a professional chef by a long shot but I can serve 8 people with everything on the plate being hot, asparagus was luke warm and the potatoes cold. Our impression was it was under new ownership but it isn't. Super disappointing
Was able to book a nice booth for two prior to heading out to other local festivities. The staff was very busy and it did take a long time to get our meal. They ran out of rice but no biggee. We shared a very salad tostart and enjoyed the salmon and my date had surf and turf which he enjoyed. The vanilla Creek brûlée was decadent! The food was excellent but it took a while.
This is a favorite spot for me because it's always lovely. Quiet enough to enjoy conversation without straining and comfortable. The service is always excellent too. The menu, for me, is somewhat limited however, that doesn't stop me from frequenting this location. It leaves the other Redwater locations in the dust.
Whilst the food is consitently good, service excellent and friendly, the music is awlful, too loud and innapropriate. More consistent for a country and westrn bar. I think we will give it a miss which is a shame as I love going there, but after the last few times I don't need to be this irritated whilst spending $70 for lunch(no wine) I understand we all have different tastes in music, but background music should be just that, background music. Sorry, love this restaurant for everything else, including great staff.
Service was mediocre and as a result I am not likely to return. It started out fine but once the food arrived the server was nowhere to be found. It took forever for us to get our bills and when they arrived there were errors so then it took another 10 minutes to receive. The food was okay but for the price I expect it to be amazing.
We were greeted at the door with a very friendly young lady, the specials were explained by Steve and he was very attentive for our whole dinning experience. The lady that kept our water glasses and wine glasses full was also very attentive and friendly. All in all it was a great experience, thank you.
Server was ok until the meals arrived then there was little follow up. Three of the five meals were cold when served and one was overdone. When mentioned to the server there was no response or acknowledgement. Everyone seemed to be seated in the back room area where it was noisy and certainly not as comfortable as the main area seating. The menu has changed since September where they eliminated the standard Caesar salad in favor of a Kale Caesar and they eliminated baked potatoes with any of the steak dinner offerings - very poor decision. It is also not an extensive offering limited choices for both main courses and sides. Appetizers were very limited as well. Sorry this used to be one of our favorites but we won’t be going back.
Let me start by saying we love this restaurant, this location in particular. Whenever work brings us to Calgary, we make it a point to eat here at least two nights. The food is excellent and alway fresh, and the wine selection never disappoints. Having said that, we are not likely to be back for quite a while. The latest menu changes, which happened almost a year ago now, has removed all of our favourite items. The menu is now more heavily in favour of meat eaters. We are pescatarians. Our favourite fish, scallop and prawn dishes are no longer available. The only prawn dish is now a pasta dish, which is what we ordered. It was tasty, but we really didn’t want pasta. Scallops aren’t even an option at all any longer. We may wait a year or two before coming back in hopes the menu changes again. I applaud them for freshening up the menu, but in this case it didn’t work in our favour.
I don't like the new menu. The calamari was like eating rubber bands----over cooked. The steak was sliced when it arrived----I can cut my own. The sauce on the steak was average. There were TOO MANY FRENCH FRIES. The waiter should have asked if I would like to substitute a salad for the fries. I ate very little of the meal. I came to this restaurant because my friend wanted to come. I will not be returning.
We went to dinner here for a birthday celebration. The service was good and the menu had a good selection . I found the meal too large for me to finish. There was an adequate wine list and a nice dessert selection as well. I have eaten here on a few occasions and prefer it to the other location in Aspen. All in all it was an nice experience.
