Redwater Rustic Grille - Aspen Estates Ratings and Reviews
Our experience was kind of weird. We saw on the website that for New year's eve there was a beef wellington for 2 dinner available. We always wanted to try beef wellington so I made reservations. We get to the restaurant and are seated. The menus provided mentioned nothing about the beef wellington dinner. Our waiter never mentioned it so we asked about it and the waiter said yes it was available. To who? Only people who saw it on the website and asked about it? We also had to ask about the Ahi tuna appetizer shown on the website after the waiter asked if we wanted to start with anything. According to the website we should have started with butternut squash soup then had Ahi Tuna appetizer, then the wellington. Well we never got the soup because I guess we didn't ask for it. Also, we had no idea what all this was going to cost until the bill came. Rather strange don't you think? Anyway the tuna and beef were very good although I found the beef a little too medium rare for me.
We thought it would be an early New Year. Ordered the braised short ribs and received a greasy slab of fatty meat on top of 4 pieces of veggies and some mashed potatoes. Very disappointed to say the least. On top of that I had to watch what i think was a manager taking to our server outside the kitchen. He couldn't even look at her and all he did while we were there was walk around with his hands in his pockets. Very unprofessional. I will not go back and will not recommend.
This restaurant is consistent, consistently slow with bringing out food. Not sure why I was surprised that it happened again, so if you like waiting for 90min for your dinner, go elsewhere. Food is par, much better choices. Went here as it was close and convenient.
Unfortunately I was not impressed with Redwater Aspen this visit. They were out of several menu items including Calamari. There wasn’t even a desert menu and only two deserts which the waitress described to choose from. In the past I have been overly impressed but when I really needed to impress my Uncle from Australia on his last night here Redwater Aspen was quite a disappointment.
We were hoping to have an enjoyable breakfast on a Sunday at this location. In the past we enjoyed their breakfast offerings. We were surprised to find that they only offered a $25 brunch option - the reason we were given was because they had a Sunday where the kitchen was overwhelmed with orders so they felt offering brunch would be a better solution.
First, and most importantly, if you are going to charge a premium price for a brunch, be certain that your food options are up to par. The choices were very limited. What was particular concerning was that the carving station had 4 thin slices of ham....which did not move for over an hour.
Second, several of the trays were empty. We asked the server for eggs benedict which she said were being prepared fresh and she would bring to our table. When we received them, they were cold throughout. In fact, everything we tried was cold - the sausage, bacon, eggs, and the "freshly made" eggs benedict.
I will say that our server was attentive and apologetic to our complaints (though nothing was done to correct the situation). The service at this location is good....just don't expect a satisfactory meal. Apart from mentioning our dissatisfaction to our server, I also called and talked to a manager to be certain that they were aware of our disappointment. For a $25 brunch, I strongly urge anyone to find a different option.
We have been going to Redwater for years, it's been our first choice for special dinners. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food the last several times we've been there. It's pretty clear that they are suffering for good kitchen staff and the food came out slowly, overheated in some cases and lacked flavor, 5 star prices for 3 star quality. You could tell our server was getting tired of apologizing by the end of the meal. She said she'd definitely have a conversation with the kitchen, but after we had left. We will give them another chance because we do love the ambiance but if it turns out to be strike three then we will not be back.
This place has always been reliable as a nice place to eat with very good food. On this particular occasion, our food was terrible - pizzas were either undercooked or burnt, the steak was cold and we ended up having to order another entrée so we didn't go home hungry. Although the staff were apologetic and did what they could to make things right, the $200 price tag for dinner was outrageous. I will think twice about returning to this particular location.
Their online brunch menu looked great so we made reservations. We were seated and given a single drink menu. Eventually someone asked if we wanted drinks. We had to ask for menus to find out it was a buffet. We checked the buffet and there were three empty hot trays and nothing that was on the online menu. We left without eating. Disappointing.
We used to booked Redwater for many special family occasions, but after a previous extremely poor experience last spring (over 1.5hrs to receive food after ordering) we decided to give it one more try. and are now unlikely to return again. Unfortunately, this experience was just "ok". Speed of service wasn't an issue this time, but food no longer seems to be worth the cost - parmesan fries without parmesan, garlic bread that was the equivalent of their previously complimentary bread and had no garlic, and cold asparagus. Steak was unevenly cooked - mostly to order, but parts way too rare. Not a place I can trust for a special occasion any longer.
They had just opened so it was quiet. I ordered a medium steak and it came out still super bloody. He took it back to cook more and still came back bloody. It definitely wasn't medium, it was rare. They didn't offer a discount or anything, and I didn't finish my steak. Otherwise good service.
Choose Redwater Rustic Grille for our anniversary dinner because of the pond view and the possibility of getting to sit outside. It turned out to be too cold for that but we still enjoyed a good view of the pond from our window seat. The food was delicious and that service was prompt and friendly. We would definitely go back.
Sorry to have to report that we were very disappointed in most everything. The service was slow because there were too few waitresses--- 2 is not enough to do an adequate job. The waitress was very pleasant and accommodating but just too busy. She told us there were only 2 in the kitchen as well. We thought we were going to have lunch but no, only brunch was served on a Saturday. That was very disappointing! We did manage to get some soup that was Luke warm. At one point we were going to go to Original Joe's next door but the majority agreed to stay.
The complimentary birthday cake was a very nice touch. This restaurant will not get good reviews until the owner hires more staff.
Do not go this restaurant on a Sunday evening. Items on the menu will not be available. The substitute also had only one item. The quality of the Prime Ribbon was below standard, it would not yield to a steak knife. The later evening Manager refused to deduct from Bill but offered desert which was supposed to be included according to Manager at time of ordering. I will not insult anyone by recommending this restaurant.
