Redstone American Grill - Plymouth Meeting Ratings and Reviews
The waitress was at our table every two minutes just pushing us to finish our dinner and leave. It was to a point we could not complete discussing anything. I would not go back nor recommend anyone to go there to eat. There were tables opened so it was not like the place was packed.
I booked a reservation at Redstone for 9PM. I booked this reservation at 6pm. When I arrived at 9pm, I was told that my table was not ready and that I could sit at the bar or wait at the door. We waited by the door for 15 minutes before being seated. After booking a reservation and still having to wait 15 minutes to be seated, they sat us in a small dark corner. I always find this offensive when restaurants seat us at bad tables because we look young. We both got steak which was quite expensive for how bad it tasted. The only thing good here was the drinks. I had an old fashioned.
The noise level was too high and the food was nothing to write home about. The waiter kept returning to ask how things were UNTIL we wanted to pay the check and leave to catch a movie. At that point, he was chit-chatting with another group a few tables away. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience.
This was my worst visit here since I've been coming here a few times annually for years.
My usual order (about half the times I've been there) is the rotisserie chicken. This time it was totally dry and mealy. Service, even though polite and sweet, was inattentive. The asparagus was overly tough to boot.
I need to give this place a rest, and stay away from crowded Friday nights.
Always good food and great service. Very nice, comfortable place to go. Great to eat at the bar, alone or with a couple of people. Table service great too. Wine list could be a little more robust but overall, certainly acceptable. Overall, a good dining experience and consistently very good quality.
My fiancé and I went to Redstone last night (we have loved Redstone up until now - always exciting to go there). We made a 7:15 reservation and when we arrived at 7:17 we were told they were running behind and it would be no more than 5-10 minutes. We did not get seated until 7:55, which we felt was ridiculous since we had reservations. I have never had to wait that long WITH a reservation. Seems like their system should change to book less reservations and therefore have more happy people.
We went for Sunday brunch. Delicious omelet; the toppings went to the edges of the omelet, unlike most others over had and there were plenty of the toppings. Excellent breakfast cake that was included in the price. Unusually quiet -- perhaps because we were early or perhaps because of the snow. Very good brunch.
Menu items are WAY over-priced. The 16 oz. rib-eye was ordered med. rare, came out medium & thinner than a random buffet steak. The crab dip was good, tasty & chunky, but when we asked for the chocolate lava cake, our waiter told us it takes 20 min., adding "I guess I should've told you that earlier."
So it was bound to happen. What started out as special and unique has gotten routine and crazy expensive. The restaurant now smells like smoke and BBQ all the time.
$18 for 1/2 rack of ribs, that's 6 ribs, with some french fries and cole slaw [FULL of corn that got dropped into it by the way] . The $9 caesar salad was swimming in dressing and had so much garlic in it, it was inedible.
The waitresses look upset if you don't order drinks, appetizers and dessert. Some nights I am just not up for it. This time, they sat a table with 3 small children, 2 of which were inconsolable, screaming behind us, so no dessert. The waitress pressed the issue then looked annoyed no one wanted any.
I asked to buy the $100 Redstone card so I would get the $20 'use later' card and was that I could not use the card for this meal and it would be 'activated' the next day. So basically the waiter wanted to add a $100 gift card which he conveniently put on my tab so my bill looked way more expensive than it was. We almost tipped on the extra $100. It truly felt like a scam. I asked to have the gift card removed and just paid the bill.
Too bad. Never going back there.
I frequent Plymouth Meeting Mall and have seen this restaurant countless times but never ventured in. Finally went on New Years Day. Very welcoming staff. Interesting menu. Loved their gouda fondue dish. Had several delicious appetizers and a salad for lunch and watched football and the mummers. Such an enjoyable experience!
It was New Year’s Eve. I feel the waiter was inexperienced. He brought out the appetizer that we were sharing and our salads at the same time. We ate the appetizer then the salads. As a former waitress, the message was clear, we were being rushed and it was early in the evening. We told him not to rush us. He was apologetic but it didn’t change anything This was the third year we ate there on NYE. Probably the last.
