Redstone American Grill - Oakbrook Terrace Ratings and Reviews
My wife ordered simple rotisserie chicken...it arrived smothered in gravy. Needed to be returned. She ordered no asparagus...it arrived with asparagus. Needed to be returned. I ordered a bowl of chicken soup...for $6.50 I received barely a cup of soup with very little chicken and remarkably little flavor. In addition, entire menu was significantly overpriced. Very disappointing. Too many better dining options nearby.
Redstone used to be one of our 2 favorite restaurants, however, they have changed the menu a bit. No more Lobster bisque on Saturday’s, big mistake! Not too much of a fan of the new menu items, ordered a special, pork was undercooked. I know pork can be I bit pink in the middle but it was WAY undercooked: I sent it back, but was still to pink for comfort and the outside was now burnt; potatoes were cold. They took it off the bill, which was nice, would have been nicer to have a meal to eat. Buffalo shrimp appetizer never disappoints, except for this time. It was overcooked and just did not taste right. The waiter was pushy in trying to get us to order, like he needed to hurry up and get us out even though the restaurant was not full. Bad food, bad service. No longer on of our top go to restaurants.
Overall enjoyed our evening and food was good except the ribeye that one in our group ordered, it was overdone and overly fatty (particularly for a ribeye). This was the second trip to Redstone in which he said his steak was overcooked. Highlights were the brussels sprouts and the buffalo shrimp on the appetizer menu. Our bill for a group of four, including two bottles of wine, was well over $400. For what we got, I think too pricey. We've been there probably 10-14 times in the last few years, but I think we'll explore other options before we would go back.
They severely over-cooked a $45 steak. I hate when people make a huge deal about mistakes, they happen. However, I will expect for the restaurant to try and make it right. They brought a different steak that was nearly all fat and then didn’t I’ve comp a single percent of the original. Disappointing display of leader by not trying to go above and beyond to show they were trying to make the wrong right. For a $150+ meal I expect more. Won’t be going back.
We have been going to Redstone for many years and probably won't go back. They keep changed their menu and don't serve many of our favorites anymore including the Salmon Burger.
They were out of our wine and the special pasta dish I ordered was very bland. Service was average, it seems the restaurant has lost its way. I expect higher standards when we spend $75/person.
The drinks were amazing! However, most in my party ordered salads and for the price that we paid, the salad size was very small. The overall display of the salad was poor and you had to mix everything together. Most of us ordered the Smokehouse Steak Cobb and the steak was tiny!!!! I was not impressed as I love me a good salad!
This was my first time here and I am not sure if I would come back.
The rotisserie chicken was fantastic, along with the garlic mashed potatoes. The asparagus was a little on the woody side, large pieces, though cooked well. I very much enjoyed the cookie skillet sundae. We ordered cappuccinos, but they definitely did not come hot enough. Luke warm at best. I tried my friends order of ribs and they were beyond delicious. The barbecue sauce was so good! Our server was wonderfully attentive and I wish I would’ve gotten his name to ask for him again. He knew the menu well and made great recommendations. We will definitely be back!
Had a reservation at 6:45 and we were seated at 6:45 even though people without reservations were waiting. Very impressive. Service was excellent - we were able to move at our own pace without being rushed. We ended up spending almost four hours at the restaurant. Food was excellent - diverse and good choices. Atmosphere was great - we were seated at an oversized booth so plenty of room. Just a great experience. About $75 per person including drinks an appetizer and salad and entrees.
I was lookin very forward to enjoying my and my mom’s birthday brunch with our family at this restaurant. Initial host was awesome and seated us next to the fireplace per my request but I was very upset with the rest of our dining experience. Our waitress, Jodi, right from the start didn’t seem to want to serve us. Excellent service is when your waiter smiles, invites you to the restaurant, makes you feel welcomed to be there, comes to your table and asks if you need any additional coffee or water refills, brings utensils like spoons if any are missing on the table, is aware of our dietary restrictions which were written in the additional notes section in the open table reservations along with the note that we were celebrating life, simple things like this were just simply ignored. She decided to bring out the cake at a time when no one else but I was at the table; we had a newborn with us who needed a quick diaper change and our waitress saw my family leave the table to attend to the baby but again simply ignored it and brought out the sparkling candle and cake for only me to enjoy. My family was upset that eventhough they had asked Jodi on the way to the washroom to please wait a few minutes before bringing out the cake, but she simply shrugged her shoulders and said it’s icecream and walked to the table anyways. Just from the beginning of our service, the vibes were not positive and I wish it would have been different. The restaurant itself was warm and inviting and the food was delicious but lack of customer appreciation is why I gave this a 3 star rating.
We had reservations for my wife to celebrate her bday at 7 pm. It was very busy. We didn’t sit for 45 min but the drinks at the bar were wonderful. Then we waited a long time for our meals. We weren’t in a rush and loved the ambiance. No one recognized my wife’s bday though. The food was phenomenal! Sea Bass best ever cooked fish!
