Redstone American Grill - Minnetonka Ratings and Reviews
We have generally had good experiences at Redstone, Eden Prairie, however, our experience with our family of six recently proved disappointing. First, two drinks had to be returned, then a prime rib ordered rare turned up at least medium well. Then we were told there was no rare left, and they substituted a higher-priced steak and charged that amount. Finally, though less frustrating, the service was slow particularly between entrees and dessert.
Took a long time for the server to greet us, then another 10 min to get the water for the table I requested. Apps - 1 was extremely disappointing (meatballs) portion was so small and we didn’t find any cheese (mozzarella stuffed, per menu) and buffalo shrimp was brought out with blue cheese (requested none at time of the order). Took another 5- 10 min to get a new one out. No manager ever came over, nothing was offered for our inconvenience. I’ll stop there- doesn’t get any better. We spent over $200 for 4 people and it was so-so. Disappointing Redstone... seems to be getting worse.
Even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait about 10 minutes to get seated. We were attended to right away and right up until our food was delivered, but then it was as if we were forgotten about for a 1/2 hour, never checked on, water glasses dry. The food was very good and our second round of drinks were delivered right away. You could tell our waitress was busy with other tables, but never made it back over for quite awhile, when she did, she stated she’d go get the check, my other guest asked to get desserts to go, we weren’t offered an option before we mentioned we wanted to order them. We were celebrating three birthdays in one family and it would’ve been nice to be attended to a bit more, even after the food was delivered.
The food was awesome and fast! The server was nice but spoke a little too fast for one to really understand what she was saying. The ambiance was beautiful (quiet & dark but not too dark). My husband and I don't get out much due to busy lifestyle (4 children) but this was the perfect date!
We've typically enjoyed our meals at Redstone so decided to go there prior to Valentine's Day for a night out. Unfortunately, the menu selections didn't include one of our favorites, the calamari recipe had changed (too much breading more shrimp than Calamari) and the sea bass was mushy. They did take the fish back and credit it. Since my husband already had his food, I just ordered a salad. In the end, we had a mediocre meal for too much money. Simply wasn't worth it.
Busy Saturday night and had reservations, but had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. Brian, our waiter, was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and offered to make substitutions if we desired. We ordered drinks and later our dinner entree - Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass with brandy-garlic crust, stir fried vegetables with Asian sesame vinaigrette and basmati rice. My wife had the Blue Cheese-crusted Filet Mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and root vegetable medley. My sea bass was delicious and perfectly cooked and flavorful. I substituted grilled asparagus for the bell pepper medley and glad I did. The wood-fired asparagus was slightly smokey, tender crisp and delicious. Unfortunately, plating was a mess. There was too much rice (about 2 cups) covering the plate with asparagus spears scattered over the top then the sea bass on that so it made the sea bass look small by comparison. My wife ordered the 10 oz filet medium rare, but it came out raw to rare so she ate around the edges that were cooked correctly. Her roasted root vegetables (butternut squash, sweet potato and parsnips) were undercooked as well. We had to ask to see Brian so we could get the filet and vegies re-fired or replaced. When it came back, the filet was mostly medium to medium well with 3 separate pieces of meat on the plate and the vegies were untouched. They should have prepared a new dish to get it right but didn't. I ate while she waited then I waited while she ate. I hate when that happens. When the manager came over to check on everything, we told him what happened with the filet so he comp'd her dinner. The filet was tasty, just not a good experience. We ended with Sebastian Joe's ice cream with delicious caramel and hot fudge toppings, but it didn't make up for the disappointing experience.
The restaurant was extremely busy. Drinks from the bar were very slow (20 minutes for a glass of wine). The food was wonderful. Our server was doing everything possible to make our experience a good one. My step-father tipped 20% and then I gave her another $20 because she was trying to compensate for the crowds, the bar service being slow, and the kitchen being slammed.
The restaurant was the loudest it has ever been of my many visits, which made it very difficult for my more aged guests to hear conversation. I will still make reservations here, but I don’t believe the other 4 members of my family will due to the noise of the restaurant.
Crowded - noisy- entrees were overpriced - my daughter in law ordered a tenderloin medium and it was the rarest tenderloin I have ever seen served in a restaurant - we told the waitress and were told “ that’s too bad.” My son ordered the catch of the day - it was a piece of cod that was about 3 inches by four inches. Were were very disappointed Will not be back !
We always love coming here it my favorite go to restaurant for date nights. We always have a wonderful experience, service is fast and friendly. The food never disappoints, with coming here a lot I have tried almost every thing and it always has been good. Favorite is there chicken and garlic mash potatoes.
People love Redstone, but it wasn't my favorite. The portions are huge, and the food is just ok. And I'm not a foodie either, just a busy mom who enjoys great food and attentive service. We ordered the shrimp appetizer that people apparently go to Redstone for, and it tasted like shrimp doused in buffalo sauce, and was just average. The corn bread wasn't really our thing either. The chopped salad was very good. I was celebrating my birthday with my spouse and kids, and thought this would be a fun family-friendly place. Our server was very friendly, efficient and experienced, but the food, prices, and lack of a fun birthday dessert/experience (we didn't want singing, but maybe a little acknowledgement) will prevent us from coming back.
Food was amazing as always . Service wasn’t the best. Our reservation was lost in the system. My friends and I ended up waiting for 40 minutes on our table. We didn’t eat till an hour and a half after we arrived, with two hungry toddlers. Our waiter was rude and short, walked away while we were placing our order. No one has checked on our table during the dinner, no water refills , no concerns or questions. Service was definitely very poor considering we come to this place quiet often. Food is great though, highly recommend it. Manager was nice enough to send us home with a gift card.
Tried to like it, I really did. We had a 6:30 reservation but still had to wait 20 minutes. The food is over-the-top expensive, which is alright with me as long as the taste, service and atmosphere combine for an unforgettable experience. Nope. The waitress was talking and moving at near the speed of light, making us feel rushed. The atmosphere was a bit loud since they were at capacity but it was not overly special. And the food was, well, forgettable. I had the special of shrimp fettuccine and I didn't even bother trying to finish it, a rarity for me. Chewy shrimp and bland seasonings, I tried to offer some to my wife and she just laughed at me. She had a spring roll Thai salad which she said as good but way too small for a $20 plate. Of course the cornbread with maple butter was fantastic. My recommendation is to go for the cornbread, then head over to Olive Garden or Red Lobster or hell even Taco Bell. At least you will have some money left in your pocket at the end of the night.
My hubby and I went for dinner @ 6:15 I had requested a booth and they led us to a table with plenty of booths all around. When I told them I wanted a booth they quickly accomodated us. We had a new waiter who was very friendly, when we ordered we told him we both wanted the parmesan crusted walleye, it took awhile for our food and when it came it out it was grilled walleye with rice and mixed vegetables. I finally flagged down a person who found our waiter and we told him this is not what we ordered and they took it away. They said I thought this is what you wanted. We didn't even see this other choice on the menu. When it finally came out again correctly this time it was worth the wait. They also gave us a dessert to go. So all and all it turned out to be a great date night.
First time visit on a Saturday night. We ordered appetizers and were not at all impressed. Tasted like cheap frozen appetizers from the grocer. Besides that, the noise level was ridiculous. There was a group of teenagers who were completely obnoxious and swearing. When I asked something be done about it I was told ‘can’t do anything about free speech’. Actually, you have every right to inform people their behavior is not acceptable in your private establishment and you have the right to refuse service.
Service was unpolished, obtrusive and unprofessional. We were served an appetizer and waited 15 minutes for silverware, during which time the shrimp cooled and wasn't good. My husband ordered an old fashioned at 7 p.m. and in the 2.5 hours we sat at our table the server never again asked if he wanted another one. Server constantly interrupted conversation to attempt to clear empty glasses and dirty plates. If a glass is empty just clear it! No need to rudely break in saying "excuse me excuse me." We had $200 in gift cards and it was total confusion. Our bill was $202 and the server couldn't figure out why we'd want to use gift cards and put the remaining balance on our Visa. We were paying for another couple and it was so uncomfortable to have to give the server a math lesson with our guests sitting there awkwardly. To top it off, we were in a booth near the mall entrance so were in a traffic lane of shoppers in and out. Ambiance is terrible, I'd return to the EP location but the Ridgedale location makes you feel like you're at Chipotle with all the traffic and crying kids.
