Redstone American Grill - Maple Grove Ratings and Reviews
I've heard about this restaurant from others and took my wife there for her birthday. Unfortunately my experience was the poorest as far as I can remember. I ordered the roasted chicken to which I felt it might have been under-cooked as it had quite a bit of pink in it. Needless to say it was cold and the sauce it was covered in was virtually tasteless.
The atmosphere was fairly noisy, perhaps a bit too open, the air temperature too cold.
Nonetheless our waitress did a good job, but that visit was an one and done for us. Worst dining experience overall than as far as I can remember.
The food was fine. Nothing special. Nothing impressed me. For the price I was expecting more. More flavor. More something that would make me want to come back. They have nothing like that. I'm a little shocked that this is a chain restaurant and it was as busy as it was because if you want a good steak people should just walk across the parking lot to Pittsburgh Blue.
The last time I went to Redstone in Maple Grove, I got Crab Cakes and let's just say, they didn't please me. Our server Cheyenne suggested the Walleye. You have to realize I don't eat fish but trusted her recommendation. Let's just say I can't wait to get it again the next visit.
Also, ask for Cheyenne, she is AWESOME! Hilarious if you want her to be, serious if that's your cup of tea. She is one of the best servers around.
The only down-side of the evening was the temperature. It was extremely cold, to the point that people sitting in our area had coats n. They had a small, portable heater, but it did not do much. It make the experience much less enjoyable. Food was still good. Normally, we love Redstone. Hope they can fix this issue.
From start to finish, our experience was fantastic! Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, prompt, and anticipated our needs. Our appetizer and meals were all superb- steaks prepared perfectly, side dishes as an ideal compliment. Will definitely go back soon!
I had specifically requested for a high chair and called ahead to make sure that one would be available, but when I arrived I was told that they were so busy that they couldn't accomodate us in an area with the high chair. All they had available was a booth with a booster. My son is very slim, so I'm hesitant to put him in a booster seat for fear that he would tip over or fall off the seat and under the table. I was hoping that the booster seat would have a restraint, but it didn't. It also didn't help that there was a large enough gap between the edge of the table and the edge of the booth seat that my son had to slightly tip his booster seat to get to his plate. The whole time we were there I was checking on my son to make sure he was safe and had to constantly readjust his booster.
In addition to that, because we were seated by what looked like a large group dinner and the private room that was also filled with people, it was very loud. I would not recommend going here for intimate dinners even during the middle of the week.
Besides that, the food was great.
As usual, we had wonderful food on our New Year’s Day visit to Redstone. Unfortunately, there was a sprinkler system malfunction or water main break; we had to box up our remaining food and leave. No one’s fault and unfortunate for the business and employees. It made for an interesting New Year’s Day story!
Chose Redstone for our New Years Eve dinner, and to my surprise, they added Beef Wellington to their regular menu. I had to try it, although expecting it to either come out too rare or too well done, because it can be a tricky dish to prepare. All the stars and moon must have been in alignment that day since it couldn't have been more perfect! My husband had the Lamb which was also top notch.
Have been there several times. Food is pricey and very average. Nice atmosphere. Very cold in the bar area. I had the crab benedict and could not eat the crab...very fishy. Husband had steak and eggs...said it was just ok. We do like the complimentary cake. Probably more favorable review for the lunch items than brunch.
Went here for our anniversary. Made a reservation with Open Table. They called earlier to confirm.
Began with Cesar salad that lacked dressing and was nothing that one could not order at Culver's. Next, the shrimp and corn chowder had a flavor that seemed to come from freezer burned thawed shrimp. Somewhat musty and stale tasting in my opinion.
My BBQ chicken was cooked well and had a good flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes had an awful flavor and I only took about 3 bites. They wifey had BBQ ribs that were tender and well prepared.
The service was very good I will give them that. Overall a very mediocre dining experience - especially for the prices we paid. Therefore I am giving them 2 stars at the Maple Grove MN location.
Made reservations for 5:15 which is early, and when we got sat, they walked us all the way in the back of the party room by the window. On our way, passed by about 4 open booths....I understand if maybe we were a walk-in or it was busy but at the time it was definitely not. So ridiculous to walk by four open booths and then shove us in the back of the party room.
Also went there in September and used Open Table and said it was our anniversary and no one even mentioned it. If you are going to have the option to say that it’s our anniversary when making be reservation, you should follow through with it and let the server know.
