Only complaint ....Restaurant is kept dark even at 1pm... kept blinds turned. Lighting is too dim for reading menu.
Buffalo shrimp are to die for
Great food and drink! Always some new drinks on the menu too
The occasion was a delayed Valentine's Day dinner with my forever Valentine.
Starters were glasses of Moscato & Pinot Noir to accompany the Buffalo Shrimp (highly recommend, by the way).
My Valentine ordered the Walleye which took up the entire plate and was served with crisp asparagus on a bed of garlic mashed.
I went against my gut, which was screaming steak. I caved when I read the about the Scallops and Linguine. In fact, props to the menu writer who either took creative license, or didn't tell the chef what was written. What came was an over-cooked cereal bowl sized portion of the most tasteless Linguine I have ever had in my life. Now on to the Scallops. WTH, Redstone? I was visualizing large succulent Scallops, perfectly seasoned and pan seared on both sides. What I received were what I can only describe as rubbery Scallop pellets void of any flavor.
This is the second time visiting a Redstone in 3 months - see Minnetonka review below. And it will most likely be my last. I'm not sure what's happened to the Redstone Brand, but it's drastically gone down hill from what was once an enjoyable dining experience.
Food and flavor was over rated, my jerk chicken was extremely dry. Tasted nothing like what I expected, but understood that is MN and spices are not well tolerated. The ambiance was less than desired parking was short outside and space was in greater demand on the inside. This is a one and done dining experience.
Redstone is my favorite restaurant in the Minneapolis market. I go there multiple times per year and often suggest this to others traveling for business so I decided to go there for my daughter's birthday and the experience was not nearly as good as the last time I was there. The prime rib I ordered (medium rare) was tough, the buffalo shrimp was cool when it arrived and the servers seemed confused as they walked around the party room trying to figure out who ordered what. I will try this restaurant again but will hold off on recommending it until I feel confident this was a one-off unfavorable experience.
The food was excellent
Based off my last visit I’d have to say yes & no. food took in the long to come out from kitchen. Then order was 1/2 right.
Drinks are very average, on a busy day the food tastes mass produced
I made Valentines Day reservations 3 weeks in advance but was still seated in the bar area. My $42 Filet was overcooked. I pointed this out to our server who went to reorder me another steak. The manager for some reason decided to interject herself and my reorder was cancelled. The manager seemed to think that we'd be happy if she simply credited me my dinner... but since I didn't eat the dinner, I don't see how that was really doing me a favor. Essentially I ended up with a bill of $180 (including tip, as there seemed to be no reason to punish the server who was doing her best) for the privilege of getting to watched my wife eat an overpriced meal in a bar.
A great Valentines dinner. The place was packed, but still we had great service and delicious food!
Steak pricy for portion
my ribs were great, my wifes steak salad was not so good. ordered medium came rare almost raw and was fatty and tuff . service was great.
Had a group of 8 high school students to dine before their dance. Waited for food for over an hour and had to get their food changed to, “to go” and they took it to the dance to eat it there before the dance closed it’s doors. So big swing and a miss unfortunately to what would have been a special evening.
We were disappointed to find that they had made changes to the menu, and some of our favorite things were no longer available. Also, the portion sizes were much smaller, making the dishes we ordered seem to be not a good value.
As always, Redstone never disappoints. The rotisserie chicken is a favorite.
It is a perfect day for me to have a meal at Redstone. I have been there many times and never been disappointed. The best is the patio, but still cozy and a good choice on a winter day.
We booked last min. And we were given a high top (former booth) table. It was fine, but not as relaxing as a booth. I should have mentioned this...but we were focused on our next event and didn’t.
Great service with above average prices.
We love Red Stone, always good food and great service. We especially like their rotisserie chicken sandwich. Love the corn bread!!!!!
We were one of the first guests for brunch if not the first. They seated us in the corner of the bar area. Nobody was in the dining room booths?? The next few guest were seated in the formal dining area? We were the only ones on the bar area felt secluded. We obviously had reservations through open table. It would have been a much better experience sitting in a booth in the more cozy formal dining area.
There were 2 issues that made our meal less than optimal. First, their pacing was off; the entrees came out before we finished our starters. I don't like to have my meal sitting on the edge of the table while I finish my soup. Second, my bone in ribeye was cut pretty thin for a premium steak (less than an inch thick). The preparation was not great - very little in the way of grill marks / crust. Little browning equaled not great flavor.
I had a great time at this restaurant! Food was good and came out fast a long with any drink orders. The only thing I can think of that I would change is the lighting. I don’t mind the darker lighting but we went at night time and it was hard to see. Other than that it was fantastic!
We had reservations for 6 at 5:30 pm on SaturdayFebruary 3rd. celebrating one of our parties birthday. My husband and I arrive at about 5:10. One of the hostess, was starting to seat us, but, the hostess with the purple turtle next sweater told her not to that we would have to wait until closer to 5:30.
We waited, looking on into the dining room see that it was full or busy
When we were seated, they took us to a booth. We asked if we could sit at a table the (hostess with the purple turtleneck) said no .
It was extremely uncomfortable, hot, had problems with conversations and not hearing, my husband started to have a panic attack.
The waitress was ok, however, she never completely clear our dinner plates from those of us sitting further in the booth.
We were all very disappointed , The over all view from the 6 of us we will not likely come back to RedStone
Great service, good food. Music too loud, made it difficult to have a conversation without shouting.
Met a friend for lunch. Server was attentive but not hovering, manager stopped by, food was delivered promptly and was tasty! Will definitely return.
It’s always a great experience. Love eating at Redstone. Consistent and tasty. Service is always excellent.
The overhead music system was WAY too loud for a Sunday morning brunch. We had company from out of town that we wanted to visit with. It was very difficult to speak over the larger table we had with the music so loud. We asked the waiter to turn it down and were informed that it was set that way and couldn't be changed. That is ridiculous.
30 mins wait for our table.
Staff on front desk not particularly pleasant
20 mins wait for our drink order.
Overall very disappointing
Love Redstone! Great food , wonderful service! We go here once or twice a week for many years!
Service was good, food okay but a little greasy. Not the quality I expected. I don’t know why restaurants these days have the music up so loud!
Thoroughly enjoyed the buffalo shrimp, Prosciutto fig flat bread & chicken chopped salad. Great date night & atmosphere.
Food was fantastic! Love the ambiance. Had a reservation and was seated promptly.
Redstone was great! We went there for my birthday and it was perfect! Prices were average for a nice steakhouse, the atmosphere was welcoming and quiet and the service was wonderful! Definitely coming back here again!
I have never been disappointed at Redstone. The BEST!!
Gretchen was outstanding, and the food was delicious.
For as much as our meal was $150 for 4 people, I would expect more choices and better quality for what I had (flatbread). The bang bang cauliflower to start with was excellent. My husband said his jerk chicken was fairly good. Not enough vegetarian choices. Plus our waiter was hit or miss with checking on us and he talked way too fast for how noisy the restaurant was.
Disappointed that we had a 7pm reservation and were not seated till 7:35pm
We frequent this restaurant and have for years. Always use open table and always request a booth. This past dining experience, despite our booth request, we were seated at a four top table for just the two of us in the bar and next to the door to a private party.
Disappointed that I didn’t asked to be relocated or agree to wait.
More disappointed that I would even have needed to ask. Expected better from this establishment.
Not the best dining and service experience we’ve ever had at this Redstone.
Next time I will confirm my seating matches my request before accepting the table provided.
