Red's Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
Came here for Mother's Day to try something different than our usual favorite restaurants. Easy to get seated, only 4 other tables occupied. Very large wine selection as would be expected, about a half-dozen craft brews and a limited food menu. We opted for the baked brie appetizer, charred chicken entree and pulled pork ragu with pasta. The appetizer was very good and I enjoyed the pasta although for the price it was not a good value. Unfortunately the chicken was a big disappointment; it was a very small bone in chicken thigh that had very little meat on it and was not cooked well at all, a bit in the rubbery side. Again for the price this was a surprise. I admit we didn't mention it to the only employee working the front as we realized that we wouldn't be coming back and we were dining on a discount already. For wine drinkers this is obviously a great place to go and get an appetizer, but as a special night out for us it wasn't.
We went to Reds Wine Bar after reading solid reviews on Yelp and OpenTable but were extremely disappointed after our trip there. We arrived at 7pm on a Saturday evening in hopes of getting some wine and dinner and catching a bit of the live music while we ate. After standing around waiting for someone to come show us to our table (we had a reservation) we ended up having to fend for ourselves to grab a table. After placing a drink order for a flight of red wine and then receiving it fairly quickly, we were then ignored for over an hour and a half as the wait staff made their rounds to all other tables. On several occasions we made eye contact with the staff but, short of sending up a signal flare to get some service, no one returned to take our food orders. Finally, someone came to ask if we wanted our water glasses refilled so we got our check, paid and left to go to the Wing Stop next door to get some food to go. I would understand if they had been super busy and the wait staff had at least checked up on us, but that was sadly not the case. The good wine here does not make up for the appalling lack of service. No plans to return here ever again.
I loved the appetizers deliciously presented, and a small wine selection. Wish the portion of food was a little bigger for sharing. I would order 2. Asked for a taster but received a full glass. Also live music is very loud because it's 1 room. They have tall table setting and they have a bar and shorter tables available. Also bathroom is far walk after a couple glasses of wine, wear comfy high heels girls. Definitely fun and loud open theme restaurant.
The food and drink were good. Enjoyed the burger, which was cooked well and had a good amount of meat for the size. They seemed a bit understaffed for the amount of people there before a Thunderbirds game, but they were working hard and doing the best they could.
I hate to leave a bad review but if no one points out the obvious things, no improvements will ever be made, right? I went this past weekend with my girls for dinner. The restaurant was nice to start with. However, they only had ONE glass of Mascato left for my girlfriend, and they were out of 3 items on the dessert menu. We were there on a Saturday night at 6:00...prime dinner time, weekend. What the heck? You can't run a business like this and expect people to return. They were also out one of the salads on the menu....how the hell do you run out of lettuce? They had live music that started at 8:00. The singer was SO loud that we couldn't hear ourselves talk. This is a WINE BAR, not a sports bar. I will never return. Completely disappointed. I think I read somewhere that the owner of Red's is also part of Vino's at the Landing in Renton. Vino is much nicer. Red's needs to step it up and get with the program if they are going to succeed.
This was our fourth time to come to Red's Wine bar on Tuesday nights for trivia and again, it was a great night. We enjoyed some delicious food. Highlights included a roasted root vegetable salad, a chicken & pesto flatbread, and beef stew. The brownie dessert was awesome. There is a great selection of wines either by the glass or by the bottle. They work with an outside vendor for trivia which makes it so fun.
Our only disappointment is that they had changed their menu pretty substantially again since the last time we were in (they appear to change it seasonally) and one person in our group was really disappointed that their hamburger (which he loved) was no longer on the menu.
We can't wait to go back.
The tables are very small, for two of us our food barely fit on the table with our flight of mine. The waitress had to put our menu on the ground that we asked to keep in case we wanted more appetizers. The service was just ok, our waitress wasn't very knowledgeable. The menu doesn't have very many options and it is priced a little on the higher side.
We ordered salads and wine. Two of us had wine flights. They were good, 2 of the wines on my flight were lovely. One gal was asked if she would like another glass, and as she was trying to order a different wine, (one from my flight that she had tried and LOVED) and the waitress just left super quick, guess she didn't hear and got the same wine she had previously ordered. That was too bad (we didn't say anything, had to make the show) -- and I know it was Friday night, but a little more attentive service would have got my girlfriend the glass she wanted at Reds, but, we'll be back!
We were attending a WELL publicized event at the ShoWare Center. A friend recommended Red's as it is just a block away. I made reservations through Red's website, and assumed all would go well. Unfortunately that was NOT the case. Don't know why they even offer "reservations", because we walked into complete chaos. There was 1 waitress, 1 busboy/bartender, and 1 cook. We were instructed to sit anywhere. 15 min later I had to walk up to the bar and ask for menus. 10 min later we ordered our wine and dinners. All around us we noticed hardly anyone had their food. Wine would come slowly... After we'd sat for 1hour a woman approached each table and explained she was trying to help the VERY overwhelmed and burdened staff. They had tried calling the owners for help - but they were not responding. She explained the cook was doing his best, but there was a strong possibility we would not get our food.
After another 10 min the waitress approached us and apologized. I asked her if there was any way to tell if the cook had even began our meals - she said "No". At this point we'd sat in Red's Wine Bar for 1.5 hours.
SHAME on the OWNERS/MANAGER of this place. I'm sure it's not too difficult to get the dates of events at the ShoWare Center. Everyone felt terrible for your employees. SHAME ON YOU!
I used to LOVE this place, fantastic, ecclectic if small, menu. Great service. Superb wine list. However, on my last visit I noticed they changed executive chefs and EVERYTHING I loved about their menu was gone. Replaced by carb heavy, wraps, paninis and flatbreads. There was a nice cheese list, but nothing out of the ordinary that can't be purchased in a local market. More of a lunch menu than an evening/dinner menu and was disappointed with my lack of choice of entree-or that I couldn't do small plates and share with my table, which was previously an option. The wine list remains intact-my favorite servers are still there as well-but definitely disappointed with the new direction they've taken. May not be back for a while... :(
