Redbird - Los Angeles Ratings and Reviews
My daughter and I had dinner here on a Sunday night after the Lakers game. The food was wonderful; it's an imaginative menu, excellently prepared. The room is lovely and comfortable. Service was attentive and friendly, but it moved a little fast. They didn't ask us if we wanted a drink, and then they brought my cocktail after the first course had already arrived. That's surprising for a place like this, but Redbird is still highly to be recommended and I would definitely take the opportunity to come back the next time I am in L.A.
This was a special dinner for my nephew's birthday and it was even better than I remembered! Everything was wonderful and my nephew had a wonderful time. Such a beautiful place - it is something for everyone to experience! Thank you for making this dinner so very special.
A lovely after-concert supper spot. We enjoyed the beauty of the building around us. We were not all vegans, but do you really gain something by putting chicken heart in the pot pie? The dishes we eventually agreed upon were nicely plated and creatively tasty. Service was excellent.
This restaurant is stunning to look at. Service started out wonderful! But once our order was placed it took about 25+ minutes for the first course(salad and crudo). The food was tasty but the time between our 2nd course being cleared and entree dropping was another 20+ minutes. We ordered the wattle pork. Which was lukewarm. I assume it was sitting for sometime. The spaetzle was absolutely delicious. That and the Thai crab soup were definite standouts. We will go back again, but only if we’re in the area. Probably just sit at the bar though. The valet was also pretty unfriendly.
I wish we could’ve postponed our visit because we were both really sick, but 48 hours was required to cancel and I called 32 hours prior🤧 or we would be charged $100. Not wanting to waste 100 bucks I shlepped in there with a fever and did my best to enjoy the food! The portions were tiny , but delicious. we had the oysters, sweet bread( not bread), black bass, beef something, and a buckwheat brownie! The service was top notch as well! I will definitely come back when I’m feeling better. Hope I didn’t get anyone else sick.
The food was not nearly as good as the last time I went to this restaurant. It was largely due to the fish that my friend and I ordered. We had the same complaint. Way too salty and rather dry. Our appetizers were delicious. The sides of sweet potato and fingering potatoes were just ok. The citrus dessert was refreshing and light. I can't eat enough of the cheese balls they serve with bread. Redbird has fallen a bit from the top spot of one of my favorite restaurants but there are enough good things about this place that I'd go back again and still recommend it to friends.
Second visit here...this time with another couple and really enjoyed the ambiance of the beautiful and "airy" courtyard. Presented with a complimentary aperitif followed by a cheesecloth bag filled with warm rolls and cheese puffs. The foie gras, sweetbreads, avocado salad, and veal chop were outstanding. The John Dory and selection of desserts not as impressive, but overall a very fine and memorable dining experience. Beautiful establishment and definitely a favorite in the downtown area.
Food and ambience were very nice. We went in on Christmas Eve, and the service was terrific. My only gripe would be that when we made the reservation we were not told that it was a prix fixe menu only that night for $85 per person. Wasn't really expecting to go in and drop $300 for dinner. Regardless, the food was nice.
The food was okay. It’s what you can expect at a restaurant for the price point, but nothing was really GREAT or PHENOMENAL. The service was slow - it took a really long time for them to come over to finally take our order. The cocktails were not very flavorful. It wasn’t worth $85 for the pre fixe.
Even though we live an hour's drive away, Redbird is one of my favorite restaurants and worth every bit of waiting through the LA traffic! We have enjoyed the dinners but had not tried the brunch menu yet. No need to fret. It was a unique opportunity to enjoy a different menu that was fabulous! We had a large group and ordered a lot of different dishes so that everyone could taste multiple meals. Brunch selections elevated to what you would expect to receive at dinner! The service was impeccable! Even the valet service (parking isn't an issue if you don't mind valeting your car) has moved to the digital age and lets you order up your car to decrease wait times. The cancellation policy was unique in my experience. As we had a large group, late minute cancellations or no shows would be charged a fee per person on the credit card used for the reservation. But, it would be given back to you as a Redbird credit so that you would be able to use it at the restaurant in the future. Smart idea and that policy won't spoil my appetite by leaving a bad taste! Redbird has never disappointed! Neal Fraser, you are a genius!
