The one complaint I will make if that although we made a reservation for 8pm and arrived at about 8:05, we were not sat until almost 8:30 as the restaurant claimed not to have a table available for us. Over we were seated though, the server was over quickly to fill our water and to greet us. He was very attentive throughout the meal.
Both my wife and I ordered the French onion soup, which was tasty, albeit a bit sweet for my taste. While mine was the right proportion of broth to onion to bread, my wife had very little broth in hers so it meant that it was a bit difficult to eat after she got a few spoonfuls of broth.
I had the steak frites which was very tasty and the Gorgonzola butter which was also a nice addition. The frites were well seasoned so, even though I asked for ketchup, I didn't end up using it.
My wife ordered the roasted salmon which she said very much enjoyed. It seemed to be will cooked and seasoned and the Brussels sprouts that came with it looked tasty too.
I would definitely go back the next time I'm in Providence.
We really enjoy Red Stripe in Providence. It has a fun atmosphere and a creative menu. We feel like we are in New York when we are there and we love NYC!
My waiter Sam was the best!!! went in on Valentine's day with my little girl and he made us both feel very special.
Our first time dining at Red Stripe. Food was amazing. Service was excellent. I wasn't sure what to expect, but we enjoyed our meals.
Parking for this place is not so good. Located right near a college, so a lot of the parking spaces are for residents only. Thankfully the spot that was available wasn't a metered spot.
The staff and meals, made it worth going here.
(They have Stella on tap!! 😁) BIG plus for me!! 🤣🤣
Our waitress Michelle was excellent!!! Food was great and served hot!
Best French onion soup and fries! Also loved the grilled cheese and roasted tomato soup! Yum!
Birthday brunch for six. Excellent food, service and ambiance. A good time had by all.
We love Red Strip, it just can get noisy and hard to hear people at your own table. The burgers were get last time we were there
Good food. This place never fails us when we have dinner.
the waitress was quite rude, she did not bring the bread, she left dirty dishes on the table for the entire dinner, she brought the bill without asking for a dessert or a coffee. It was quite annoying. The food was great.
Great food, wonderful service, but the open kitchen produces a smoke filled dining room. It was not pleasant!
Terribly disappointed in the quality and expense of the food. I ordered the beef stroganoff and my friend ordered the orecchiette pasta. Both were smothered in sauce (as if it was being used to cover up the rest of the faulty food in the dish) over mushy pasta at $20 plus dollars. Neither of us ate our meal. We only complained about the orecchiette and it was taken off the bill. We felt awkward complaining about both meals. Our other friend had a burger which she loved. The server was lovely and offered her apologies and a complimentary desert. There is no signage on the outside of the restaurant and a very dimly light doorway made identifying the restaurant difficult. Needless to say we would not go back.
Red Stripe is always good. One of our friends had the duck special and raved about it. For me, the mussels and fries are a must. Can’t miss going here.
We frequent Red Stripe and have come to expect good food and good service. This visit was just fine, as always.
Always a good meal and service. Something on menu for everyone. Thanks for new items on menu!!!
I think our waiter was just really busy so our service was great and they sat us next to the open kitchen/oven; it was extremely hot and at some points smokey.
Great food - the mussels were excellent as were the Brussel sprouts and the calamari.
Excellent service, casual lively atmosphere.
Very good food and wait staff very attentive.
Red Stripe's food is known generally to be good, not great. I was with 6 others for lunch. One said her salad was tired and looked like it was "prepared yesterday." My mussels were incredibly large - not a good sign b/c of over maturity - also tough, gritty and inedible. The saffron broth with them was very good. So too were the frites. I asked for and quickly received some very good crusty bread to sop up the mussel broth. My friends ate the frites. Four of us had coffee after lunch: the word on that was "it is OK." The biggest drawback: THE NOISE LEVEL IS INCREDIBLY HIGH. I know several folks who won't even patronize this restaurant because of the noise. We couldn't even hear a conversation across our table. The server was very accommodating and didn't charge me for the mussels even though I said I'd happily pay half the price to cover the frites, broth, and bread.
