Great experience as usual!
Great atmosphere and best for burgers, steaks etc.
Red Stripe was a pleasant, classy dining experience. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. I had fish and chips, which were delicious, but I felt the fish portion was small. The atmosphere was loud in there ... making it more pub-like, so I was a little disappointed in that. Overall, RS has a good, varied menu, reasonable prices, and an appealing atmosphere, outside of the noise. I would like to go back again sometime.
Excellent service. Love that they make new additions to menu and keep the good old ones as well. Love the Brussels sprouts and salmon!!!!
Wonderful food and service, this East Side gem never disappoints. Fun, a bit noisy but always a good experience,
Saturday night we went to Red Stripe for dinner, which we have done several times before. The food was good not spectacular, but our wait person was horrible. She was disinterested on waiting on the table, answered most questions asked “I don’t know” and general gave the impression that she would prefer to be anywhere but at work. Unfortunately it left a bad taste in our mouths, and it will be awhile before we return.
Went there while visiting the kids at college. Family and friends. Not too upscale so that the dress can run the gamut while still be nice enough.
Food was very good, and portions large enough for teen boys.
Appetizers definitely can be shared by more than two, which is a plus.
Overall, a good place that we will visit again.
We have been there before fore dinner and it was great. Unfortunately this time the food was mediocre. My gf ordered the beef stroganoff and most of the pieces of meat were fatty and inedible.
Went to Stripe for Easter and the food was very good it was busy but the wait staff was on top of it and kept everything replenished. Great smiles and positive attitudes even though it was hectic. I like this restaurant my only criticism is that it can be a bit loud sometimes but overall still fun.
Red Stripe is one of those restaurants you get cravings for. "I wish I had a Red Stripe Grilled Cheese right now", or "I could really go for a Red Stripe Crab Cake". Their brunches are also delicious, with their thick slabs of bacon and crusty toast. I'd highly recommend.
We made a reservation at Red Stripe for Easter Brunch. It was our first time there and we were very pleasantly surprised - ensuring return visits. The staff was charming, the food was delicious and oh so fresh! Our experience was truly amazing. We look forward to our next visit to Providence so that we may enjoy the company of the staff as well as another delicious meal!
Easter brunch was very nice. Food was good,as always. Service was excellent, as always. One of our favorite restaurants!
We had a great time at Red Stripe for Easter Brunch. The buffet was excellent, with lots of variety - fancier takes on standard brunch, without being too fancy for picky eaters. They even had gluten-free cookies. Service was great!
Love this place - friendly staff and delicious food.
Our waitress was wonderful. I didn’t get enough broth with my mussels and she immediately got some made for me and agreed that there wasn’t much. Didn’t make me feel bad at all
Sadly, our server was very inattentive. It was not our usual experience.
Family of four really enjoyed the meal! A bit loud, but good crowd=good food! Our waiter Dylan was amazing! Very friendly and had good recommendations.
Great waitress, friendly and helpful , and tremendous food. Great place celebrating birthday with family.
Not as good as it used to be, Red Stripe in its day was a great place. Not so wonderful anymore. The Mussels were a particular favorite. This time many were not open and the sauce was just OK. Our table decided this was definitely not as good as it used to be, Food is just average. My husband did not like the tomato soup which used to be a favorite of his. Onion soup is still good, But service was not great. Waitress did not seem to be happy camper, We had to call her back a few times for things like bread for table and for the mussels, sugar/honey for hot tea. Mussels were not served hot enough, broth was lukewarm. More attention to detail is needed, There are just too many really great places in Providence to eat!
OpenTable reservation was a accepted and we were seated almost immediately with no waiting. Waiter was SUPER attentive and friendly throughout the evening. Food (Red Stripe mussel appetizer, corned beef Reuben and Cobb salad entrees) was delicious and creative, and the fries served with both the mussels and the sandwich were AMAZING! Plenty of time was allowed for us to enjoy the mussel appetizer before the entrees were delivered. Prices were very reasonable, and All in all a very positive experience, and I look forward to returning very soon.
Our regular visits to Red Stripe are always fun and interesting. The food and drink is very good and the wait staff, especially Aaron, is always gracious and polite and efficient. We like the ambiance because of the energy and level of activity.
Great breakfast and bloody Mary’s. Try the bread pudding French toast, it is excellent!!
Red Stripe never disappoints. Have to have the Steak Frites or any of the mussel dinners
Gave red stripe a second try after my first visit. Despite the incredibly loud setting, the food is great, however service was inconsistent at best. The restaurant was not overly busy on a Sunday evening with the Oscars on TV.. my dining companion requested bread, and none ever materialized. The neighboring table had asked for another round of drinks that also never came, until after the waiter commented that he felt there was something he forgot to bring to that table. The food is good, excellent comfort food. It’s just extremely hard to hear a normal conversation, unless your accustomed to shouting. I really want to like this place, but inconsistent at best.
It was an all around great experience.
Excellent device and very accommodating since it was late on a Saturday night.
Cat was the best server ever !!! The food was incredible ! We will 100% be back !
It pains me to give red stripe a fair, instead of an excellent, review. We’ve been coming to brunch here for years and bring any out of town guests (who upon repeated trips to RI have asked for it by name). Admittedly it’s been a few months since we’ve last been and it seems as if they’ve had not only a menu change but perhaps a chef change? The beloved pulled pork hash was nowhere to be found on the menu so instead I ordered the tried and true huevos rancheros which I’ve had before- except they were not even close to the old menu item by the same name. The portion size was noticeably smaller for the price, the dish was completely redesigned and nowhere near as well executed. My husband did like his meal ok- but said he’s had better there. We also started off with the staff recommended cinnamon roll which had a great taste to it but was dry, crumbly and I hate to say it, but seemed stale. I’m sure freshly made it’d be amazing so we might give that another shot in the future. Our waitress Michelle was very sweet so props for service. But the meal itself at almost 70 bucks all said and done for brunch, was lackluster at best. We do brunch in providence often so it’s not the price, I don’t mind paying for great food, but sadly this go around was not so great. I think we’ll take red stripe off the brunch rotation for a bit until they work out the kinks of the recent changes.
I’m still little disappointed, dinner was amazing I loved the steak and fries and my partner loved fish & chips. I would have ordered dessert but I felt rushed. I came in at 930 and their was 2 tables seated finishing up and 2 people at bar. I understand it was slow Tuesday night but that isn’t excuse you took my Reservation and the server was great but minute the kitchen shut the lights off that’s when all respect went out the door. I’m executive in Boston and that would never fly in any restaurant you don’t shut down the kitchen till every quest in your restaurant is gone, especially with open kitchen concept. You ruined my experience and most likely won’t return. I was looking forward to dessert and I’m so angry especially when could spring my money elsewhere
Great food and service. One of my favorite places to eat and socialize in the Providence area. Good menu choices.
We used to go here a lot, but the quality of the food has dropped off over the past few years. We decided to go again on Sunday, and we were disappointed. The place was very crowded, and the acoustics are terrible when it's crowded. Our appetizers - clam chowder and deviled eggs - were okay, if overpriced ($4 for two half-eggs!). Partner's fish and chips were overcooked. I had eggs Benedict with crabcakes; the crabcakes were burnt on the outside and raw on the inside, and the seasoning wasn't pleasant. Also, instead of English muffins, they used thick toast, which was off to one side of the plate - the eggs, crabcakes, and Hollandaise sauce were on the other, and I had to assemble the whole thing myself.
The three people at the table next to us weren't enjoying their meal either; one sent her plate back, and very loudly complained that it still wasn't right after it came back from the kitchen.
The place seems popular - it's full of local people and Brown students. But the food, which used to be excellent and interesting, is not what it used to be.
Service was very good, though.
Love Red Stripe. Reliable, correctly prepared dishes and gracious service.
Came based on recommendations. Although a neighborhood favorite, I found Red Stripe intensively loud.. difficult to communicate with your date or guests while seated. It’s extrememly loud. Food was good, but the overwhelming noise eclipsed the culinary experience.
It is very good food and service but prices went up considerably.
You can't beat the Mussels. Great selection. Service by our server was fantastic. Great personality. Food is always good
Food was okay. Seasoning was off on all three of our dishes. Thank god service was phenomenal.
The one complaint I will make if that although we made a reservation for 8pm and arrived at about 8:05, we were not sat until almost 8:30 as the restaurant claimed not to have a table available for us. Over we were seated though, the server was over quickly to fill our water and to greet us. He was very attentive throughout the meal.
Both my wife and I ordered the French onion soup, which was tasty, albeit a bit sweet for my taste. While mine was the right proportion of broth to onion to bread, my wife had very little broth in hers so it meant that it was a bit difficult to eat after she got a few spoonfuls of broth.
I had the steak frites which was very tasty and the Gorgonzola butter which was also a nice addition. The frites were well seasoned so, even though I asked for ketchup, I didn't end up using it.
My wife ordered the roasted salmon which she said very much enjoyed. It seemed to be will cooked and seasoned and the Brussels sprouts that came with it looked tasty too.
I would definitely go back the next time I'm in Providence.
Great service and good looking restraint, but the food was Over spiced and over cooked, would not recommend or go back
We really enjoy Red Stripe in Providence. It has a fun atmosphere and a creative menu. We feel like we are in New York when we are there and we love NYC!
