Red Stripe is located on the East Side of Providence in bustling Wayland Square and was recently awarded “Best Neighborhood Restaurant” by Rhode Island Monthly.
Excellent meal this evening with friends! Our water, Eric, was very attentive and friendly. We will be back!
Great experience, good service, food and atmosphere.
Busy Saturday night. Disappointed that we couldn't sit at our high top table in the back room as the area was booked by a private party. No high tops available in restaurant area but waiter said we could sit at the only 2 stools left at the bar. Shared calamari on happy hour half price special. Seemed to contain more hot peppers than calamari. Lobster bisque very decadent. Half portion of mussels just right after the appetizer. No room for dessert.
Great options for gluten free. Awesome food. Awesome staff . Clean
Our favorite place to dine in Providence,
Casual atmosphere with great choices, large portions, and high quality
Tried some appetizers and both the Brussel Sprouts as well as the Artichokes were superb.
The service is also terrific
Aaron Delsesto is awesome. Always a pleasure. Professional and caring.
We had great food great service. The fried artichoke app was fabulous along with all our meals even the bread was unbelievable
Meals are always very good here, this was no exception. Scallops with maple risotto, lobster Mac, beef stroganoff—all fantastic. Only issues were: we ordered the lobster Mac as an appetizer, then were told they did not have that portion available, we would have to order the entree size (not sure how that makes sense, but we agreed). It was delivered to our table with the meals, so we ended up bringing most of it home. Also, on the last 2 occasions, I ordered the Eiffel Tower, which was one of red stripes signature cocktails for years. Both times, the server came back to tell me they did not have the ingredients to make it, yet they have a full bar. Still highly recommend this restaurant, these were just odd interactions that made the experience a little less stellar.
Erica, The Eiffel Tower specialty drink is no longer on our drink menu because we did not carry Absolute Peach at the bar to make this drink with. However; since we have been getting requests for it lately, we have just placed an order for Absolute Peach so we will be able to make this drink soon! I hope your next visit at Red Stripe will be stellar! Thanks so much for recommending Red Stripe! Thanks, Shayna
Most of us were disappointed in our meals this time. Although the appetizers are consistently good, the quality of the entrees can vary from visit to visit (even for the same dish). Complaints this time included a pasta dish that was served cold, paella that was under seasoned, and a grilled cheese that was completely saturated in butter. The drinks and the service was good, but we’ll probably try somewhere else next time.
My family a fan of Red Stripe Providence. Brothers and sons lunch. Excellent waiter. Delicious food.
Good size entrees, yummy good and great atmosphere! A winner!
12/24 Christmas Eve
Red Stripe has been consistently a great place to eat. I'm not sure how or why it isn't busier given that it's got great atmosphere, good prices and excellent food.
My only complaint both times has been slow service but I'll excuse it for the good food.
Red Stripe was great! Food and drinks were really good! The artichoke appetizer was fantastic! There was so much lobster meat on my husbands Caesar that he couldn’t finish it all. Drinks were delicious! Fresh stuffed blue cheese olives in my dirty martini!
We both had the special that day — swordfish kebob — and it was delicious and the price was very reasonable. The two of us were sitting by the window at table 27, which has a partition that protected us from the table to the left. This tamped down the noise considerably.
Our sever was amazing and the food as always was great. Thank you for making my friends birthday a special experience!
Katherine is a great server, perfect place for a casual evening.
I wish we had known that there would be no entree choices. I assumed that the menu would be altered for Thanksgiving but I thought there would be some choice. There wasn’t even a vegetarian choice (which we needed). Our server was great but he didn’t always bring our food and the server that did made a number of errors (like bringing us meat). Considering there we no options, it took a long time to get served. We waited a long time for our server to make his initial introduction, and we waited a long time to get a fork. We also had to wait for the last meal to arrive at our table. I thought the price for the food was appropriate but the cocktails were very overpriced.
Thanksgiving Dinner was very disappointing! One option only on menu for their Thanksgiving dinner. Menu not available when reservation booked. Some sides were overcooked and cold. No options offered. Asked for main area to dine with at least 3 tables available but seated in back area where we were asked to vacate in advance of a large reservation. We just happened to be the last party in their backup room.
We love this restaurant and have had excellent food and dining experience in past!
My family did not like the Thanksgiving dinner-very disappointed / I otherwise always love going to Red Stripe but will not attend any other Thanksgiving again! KJS
Food was cold. Soup was cold. Salad was soggy & frozen apples. Apple crisp was cold inside. Server was good. One of my favorite restaurant but never doing Thanksgiving dinner again
Was there for Thanksgiving. Food was good. If you don't like noise, it's not the place for you.
Wait staff was very slow and service not up to usual standards. We had 6 at our table and continuously had to ask for removal of extra plates; water, etc. The mussels were excellent, lent as always. We have been long time customers and hope we just had a bad night
Been many times. The menu has changed and they have gotten rid of a few items that I used to really like, but it is still great.
Early Friday night dinner before a hockey game. Seated just as requested, high top in the back room. Seasonal Fall Salad nicely split for us to share as starter. Appetizer portion of lobster mac and cheese just the right size and still contained plenty of lobster. Half portion of mussels also just the right amount after the hearty salad. No room for dessert.
GREAT FOOD! Our first time here and we were not disappointed! Will definitely be visiting again! 😊
The Mussels are to die for!! Wonderful! lots and lots of broth! Came with really crunchy fries on the side. My husband had the shepherds pie and he loved the potatoes and everything but wished for more moisture under the potatoes. He said it was dry. tasty but dry. Atmosphere was fun and energetic! we were 6 people at a round and it did feel like we were shouting at times. but fun. I think its a perfect night out to have fun with friends atmosphere. their butternut squash and Brussels pleased my vegan in our family. She couldn't say enough about them. Wonderful! Overall a great night out!!
The food tasted great but several of the entrees were not hot enough when served. The noise level was quite high. Would definitely go back.
The food is always great. Can’t make a bad choice. Good value
Food was very good. Wait service was friendly but disorganized
The food is consistently delicious (the crispy artichokes are amazing). The noise level is so loud it makes it difficult to carry on a conversation. I found the wait staff a bit brusque/rushed on our last visit. The waiter slopped ice cubes on the table every time she refilled the water glasses, and was hard to get ahold of when needed. The person who brought our appetizer set it down in front of my husband rather than in the center of the table--not a major infraction but it just seemed careless.
Dinner was delicious. Waiter was good but seemed a bit overwhelmed (new perhaps?)
1. The service was slow and inattentive.
2. One order was incorrect. It took so long to get to the table I did not have time to wait to correct it.
3. Even when half-full at lunch, the room was so loud it was difficult to talk.
Good food, great service at the bar by Aaron! Well worth the visit.
I love Red Stripe .. my usual spot to go when I’m anywhere in the Providence area! The food is always good .. the servers are always knowledgeable friendly and on point! I have never had a bad experience here which is why I keep going back!! Plus the bread and fries with aioli are just delicious!! And they have a great kids menu too!
In town for a college visit with family and after looking over dozens of Providence restaurant menus on-line, was drawn to Red Stripe’s food variety and wine list. I was expecting a good dinner, and had an excellent one! We ordered tons of food, and my only critique is that the risotto was quite undercooked — it actually crunched when I ate it - so I left it on my plate and just ate the scallops. I meant to tell our wonderful waiter (wish I remembered his name) but forgot as I felt this as the kind of place that welcomed helpful feedback. Here it is!
We have been eating at Red Stripe for years and it never disappoints. It is great for couples and families.
