Red Stripe is located on the East Side of Providence in bustling Wayland Square and was recently awarded “Best Neighborhood Restaurant” by Rhode Island Monthly.
I ordered the special, bouillabaisse. It was basically a glorified moules frites. I was let down. No potatoes. No veggies besides celery and onions and carrots. Literally it had two shrimp and two clams and the rest was mussels. The atmosphere is far too loud. Literally everyone was yelling their conversations. The food didn’t taste bad, but we were let down.
The food was delicious and the service was great per usual 😊👍🏼
It was very loud BUT the meal was life changing. My husband got a steak that was like a roast, I got the stronganoff and my son got the meatloaf. One of the best meals we’ve ever had
The food was ok aside from the hair in my calamari. However, nothing really wowed me. This place is very loud it’s almost difficult to hold a conversation with your party. The service on the other hand was great.
Lovely French bistro for any occasion, very tasty food & nice cocktails
excellent comfort food. great service. festive atmosphere. but super noisy. not sure why.
Terrible service. Food average
This is a great neighborhood gem in Providence. Thank you, OpenTable for introducing this neat place to us. We met another for Brunch; will do dinner next time. Real panache, great food and menu.
the food was excellent! busy but was great to reserve a table. i would go back again.
Great staff ! Great Service ! Food was Awsome ! Great place for nice time with friends !!!
Love the food and ambiance service was slower than usual wait staff wasn’t the friendliest
Menu was delightfully broad. More mussels and frites options than I have seen this side of Belgium. Drinks were well-crafted. Prices were fair. Server was bubbly and knowledgeable. A wonderful dining experience.
The food was average, and affordable, but nothing special. The place is energetic though, and has a good vibe. I’d go back, this is my second time there in a few years. While it’s not something I think of as special, it’s good enough.
We hit Red Stripe (East Side) weekly now that we live a few doors down. We absolutely love coming here and the service is always top-notch. Big props to server Eric who's vibe and demeanor were something that we more than appreciated. So few good servers seem to be left in RI, and somehow Red Stripe (East Side) found them all. Well done!
The food and service were incredible! Our table was located near the kitchen door and right next to another 2 top. We heard their loud conversation the entire time.
In addition, one server yelled every time he entered or exited the kitchen which was even more distracting. We made a reservation so we were disappointed with the location of our table.
Never had a bad meal yet and we just love everyone working there-service is excellent!!
Seated at our usual table by the front windows. Started with Caesar salad and special lobster bisque soup. Soup so rich and filling could have made a whole meal of it! Followed by grilled chicken sandwich, very generous portion of grilled chicken, and the crab cake appetizer. Crab cake served on wooden plank which caused some of the tartar sauce to drip off. Little too spicy for my liking, probably won't order again. No room for dessert.
have been disappointed with the mussels lately....thought i'd try again but no more. Way too small not portion wise but mussels inside themselves are tiny......not tasty....
friend had cobb salad that was good.
I loved being able to sit outside and it's always a good meal at a good price!
Our waiter, Eric was very good. Some dishes were quite good - lobster salad, watermelon salad, tomato soup, excellent bread. The swordfish special was mediocre - the fish was quite dry. It was noisy, but a great place for socializing if you don’t want to hear anyone🙂 I will go back to try the mussels or a burger next time which I’ve heard are quite good.
I had the truffle burger which was cooked to perfection. Loved it! Hubby had the steak frites. He said it was the tastiest he has ever had. Well done Red Stripe! See you soon!
Our server was superb and the meal was off the charts. Roasted Artichokes are a must when you dine here.
I love this restaurant - great food and great service
Only small issue was it was a bit chilly and windy, and the windows were wide open. Besides that everything was good
The mussels are incredible at Red Stripe. We all had different dishes, and everyone was satisfied!
Amazing food, as always.
Red Stripe is our favorite and "go to" restaurant. We usually dress smart casual or business casual, however, the staff there make you feel comfortable no matter how you're dressed. Our kids, 10 and 7, enjoy it too and do their best to be "grown up" and order from the menu. Fairly priced, well cooked meals that are always very good or excellent. I've had almost all items on their menu and have nothing bad to say. Even their meatloaf is incredible and tasty.
The lobster roll special was incredible. Always great food, service, and atmosphere. I always bring out of town guests to Red Stripe.
We had a wonderful dinner. I got the truffle burger with a salad and my friend got some type of berry salad...both were delicious. Our waiter, who was training, was fabulous. I will definitely go back.
Great truffle burger
Very french bistro in appearance and really nicely done menu with great variety of dishes and price levels to choose from - but take a table as far away from the kitchen/counter area as possible. Regularly crashing dishes thrown into sinks and against counters raised an already blaring noise level to headache-grade. Great service, great food, painful acoustics - at least the night we were there. Would have loved the place otherwise.
Food we ordered was very good.
My wife, her daughter, and a friend recently ate a Red Stripe. My wife, her daughter, and I have eaten then before. The food and service is consistently, very good. The menu is pretty extensive and the food is very reasonably priced. The wine list, while not huge, has a good selection. We will be back
Excellent food and service. Fun atmosphere (but definitely noisy). This was our first time dining at Red Stripe, but we'll be back.
Red Stripe is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with friendly service fabulous food and a great atmosphere! We had a lovely dinner with best friends after dropping our son at college!
Highly recommend Red Stripe !
The lobster roll and lobster bisque were excellent! The drinks and the mussels were amazing! The sour dough bread is my favorite, Ant wait to eat there again!
Went on a tuesday night....great wine and dinner specials...fun crowd!
Great service and was told of specials which 3/5 of our party had and the quality and price were super.
Came in on Sunday....drove 1hr and 15min from Leominster MA JUST to eat dinner here. Only myself was dining and I spent $106. The Lobster bisque was great. The shrimp & avocado appetizer was okay, not worth the price. I ordered the steak and the scallops w/asparagus risotto Togo. There were 2 large parties that arrived after me, wayyyy after me at least 30min. They received their food before me. I finally asked to have my dinner wrapped Togo ...the waitress said I’d still have to wait because she hadn’t turned in my Togo entree yet. Well, I told her that it had already been 2hrs since I arrived and I was ready to leave. My food came out minutes later. Then I proceeded to eat my $106 solo dinner, with a Togo box in front of me. Already, had a previous customers dirty napkin sitting beside me in an already cleaned booth seat, that I had to ask to have removed. Not a good dining experience staring at another’s dirty stained napkin and a Togo box, when your dinner should have been served before 2hrs passed!! Then tonight, the Scallops & Asparagus Risotto entree is being eaten...absolutely awful! I wish I ate this in the restaurant so I could send it back for $26. BLAND. No salt. No seasoning and 3 scallops. The worst risotto I’ve ever had seriously. Very disappointed being the 1st restaurant I’ve ever dined at in Providence Ri.
