Red Stripe is located on the East Side of Providence in bustling Wayland Square and was recently awarded “Best Neighborhood Restaurant” by Rhode Island Monthly.
We could have had a table in a better location. The hostess did not pay much attention to my telling her we had a reservation.
The first course was brought out before the wine was served.
Otherwise, the food was very good & the service was ok.
Dan was fantastic!!! We will definitely be back, and hope we are able to request him again!! Everything from buffalo cauliflower to decaf espresso martinis. We feel our hourly sitter was well worth it!!! Next time we will save room for the Matilda cake. Thank you.
I thought the food and the service was really good. The only thing I didn't like what some of the tables are too close together so you're almost afraid to have a conversation with the person you're with because you know the person next to you can hear every word you're saying
This was our first time here, my wife and I enjoy experiencing new places. Red Stripe certainly is a great place and we will be back. Plenty to choose from and very reasonable. Our waiter, Dan was very personable and funny, we loved him. We were also visited by the manager, Michael. We highly recommend Red Stripe!!
Inhale e eaten at Red Stripe several times and the food is consistently good.
Cramped quarters near window area that pose a challenge for getting up and conversation. Otherwise always very good food and service.
Good service, very poor food quality. Food was cold and tastless
Red Stripe is the best and a must go whenever I’m in town!
The food was delicious and our drinks were good. Our waiter was fantastic. Definitely going back soon.
Our waiter Aaron was awesome! The food was delicious as well! We went for NYE so a bit busy and loud but we didn't mind.
Amazing service and wonderful food. Will be back soon.
We really wanted to like this place - the service was fantastic but the food was mediocre. We started with deviled eggs and they were very firm as if they were prepared days ago - I had the same issue with my polenta. I was expecting a smooth creamy consistency but what I got was dry and crumbly as if this was also prepared days ahead.
Red Stripe is normally very good, but we had lunch there two days after Christmas, and it was apparent that the B team was working that day. Service was very slow, the servers didn’t know who ordered what, and a request for more ice tea was completely forgotten. The food was fine, and we still had a good time, but service was definitely lacking that afternoon.
This was our second time in and both times the staff and food was top notch.
Everything was great, but the noise level is uncomfortable. Great service on Christmas Eve.
Great server John. We were a party of four. Two ordered the short ribs which they said were excellent. Another had the crab cakes which were badly burnt, flavorless and dry. I ordered the pumpkin ravioli which were over cooked. They were swimming in a greasy cream sauce and the ravioli themselves were overpowered with cinnamon. Not a good combination. I would not go back.
Great meal... Service was excellent. Price was reasonable!
Nice restaurant with good food and drinks. Had brunch and the selection was good- they offer a wide variety of both breakfast and lunch items on their brunch menu
I had a great experience at Red Stripe tonight. The food that we ordered could have been any better and the service was excellent.
Great value. Fun with caring employees. Families welcome
Our waiter was very nice and attentive but somehow our salads came before our cocktails and my husbands second drink came as he finished his meal so he sent it back. The food was delicious.
Excellent food in a casual (loud!) setting. The handcrafted cocktails were sweet to our taste. Excellent apps. The Moules Red Stripe were outstanding!
Great food, great atmosphere, great service!
Great mussel's! Great grilled cheese and tomato soup! Great restaurant! Try it, what are you waiting for!
Amazing service. Our waitress was Sofia and she had stellar customer service. Nice, kind and efficient. We had a baby with us and she was very patient and accommodating.
The "Red Stripe" is a wonderful local restaurant with the potential to be a local gem. Menu is great and the service is great, but the food has been hit and miss. We ordered the broccoli-rabe for an appetizer and it was the best we've ever had. My burger was cooked to perfection, however the bun charred a little too much. My partner's clam cakes were way overdone and a disappointment. Last week it was the schnitzel that was way overcooked, but it was a busy Friday evening so overlooked. To the restaurant's credit, they did not charge for the food we complained about. Will return, because overall the experience is pleasant.
We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Providence. Everyone there was very nice, including our waitress. It is a big open room and very loud, which was neither positive or negative but just something to know. The food, as far as taste, was good but all of our food came out lukewarm. Felt like it was just sitting in a warmer or sitting too long before the server got to it.
Arrived promptly at my reservation time and was greeted and seated immediately. Brandon our waiter was attentive and personable. The teamwork among the staff was impressive as well.
Solid restaurant. The Portuguese mussels are amazing!
Food was EXCELLENT. But... we were sat next to a table with 6 SCREAMING, drunk women. I did complain about it but nothing. IMO we should have gotten a break on the check. Hiwever, with that said, the food was too good not to return. Next time we'll ask to be moved. Food is outstanding, so we'll return for sure. Breakfast us very good as well.
Living in Fox Point we frequent the Providence Red Stripe for special occasions as well as just in between laundry loads sometimes. The food and staff are fantastic, don't miss out if you haven't been yet!
A group of 7 of us dined at Red Stripe last Thursday and were impressed by the great food options (diverse menu from Mussels and fries to hamburgers and salads), the hearty portions, friendly and attentive service and fun atmosphere. The food was delicious and those who ordered salads brought at least half home with them in doggie bags - they were that big! We would return in a heart beat.
very crowded seating, we were literally on top of another table. Food was ok, nothing crazy
Dillion was Not the most Conscientious waiter. Ordered bread no bread
Plates. Dropped a napkin and asked for a new one., ten minutes went by before we got a new one. No fork replaced after I finished my salad. When my entree came which was not
Worth $29.95 I needed a fork. He was nwhere to be located. Ordered tea and No milk came.
Not the same since Jamie left. Used to be perfection now the diner down the street is
A better place. Manager no where to be seen.
We went for Thanksgiving which is a test
for any restaurant. Service was exceptional.
The wine list is good for an American based
brasserie with definite French influence.
The Thanksgiving plate was quite good
although offering a jus rather than typical
gravy, which might not please some people.
Dessert was uninteresting.
Our most recent meal here was not good, but we saw that they were doing a Thanksgiving meal for $29.95 per person, and we made a reservation. First course was salad or butternut squash soup; we had the soup, which was a bit sweet, but delicious nonetheless. The main course was everything: turkey, dressing, Brussels sprouts, smashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce (which I think was made in the restaurant - it had whole berries in it, very nice) and green bean casserole in cream sauce. Very delicious. Dessert was also included: we both had the pumpkin pie, which was also very nice, but a neighbor had his wife's dessert (ice cream) on his pumpkin pie, and it looked wonderful. Our waiter, Eric, was really nice and helpful. A very nice time.
Had Thanksgiving meal. Dark meat was dry. Sides were ok. Nick was our server and was very good.
I’ve eaten here many times and was disappointed with the quality of the holiday turkey.
It was a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. Food was amazing. It was so cold by the window!
We lucked out with window seating at this lively bistro on a recent Sunday afternoon. The food, atmosphere, and service all made Red Stripe the perfect spot for a lunch gathering with friends. The menu is wide and portions generous. Service was just the right amount of attentiveness. We'll be back to try more dishes and cocktails and check out the neighborhood.
