Red Star Ratings and Reviews
I've gone to RST for many years and have usually had good experiences. And overall, my visit this time was good... but, I will say that my lunch entrée (Autumn Grilled Chicken Salad) I ordered - while it was good, seemed to be a bit small for a meal and for its size was a little on the high priced end ($17 - I think, or at least near that).
My guest on the other had had something that looked great and seemed like a nice value... Autumn Wrap. Was a hearty size and even came with a side salad that literally was almost the same as my entrée salad!
The staff was nice and accommodated our seating request. The environment was good for conversation.
Something that I now see if not on their menu (honestly not sure how long it's been gone) is their previous cornbread prepared in a cast iron skillet... it was so good!
Really nice find in downtown Portland recommended by someone on our tour. It was close to the MAX which we wanted. Seasonal locally sourced foods but not a varied menu if you don’t like fish. I had the cheese tray...yummy and the Brussels sprouts..also yummy. Weird combo but it was what I was in the food for.
I was in town for a conference at the Hilton and this restaurant had good reviews, an American style menu to please diverse palates, and was walkable. It was so good that I came back a second time for another dinner with two other colleagues who were delighted with their meals and friendly attentive service. One is a vegetarian and I eat gluten-free (sensitive not allergy). We all loved our meals--chick pea cakes, ravioli, and creamed corn (which was not heavy). Chocolate pot de creme was divine and perfect for sharing by three women who were already full. Highly recommend.
Our server Ashley, far and away the best service we have enjoyed anywhere in a very long time, very pleasant and extremely attentive, thank you again Ashley
The food and menu was much improved since our last visit, good variety and prepared well, only complaint for our table was the bread was dry, dinners and cocktails were perfect.
Had a delightful 80th birthday party here for my father in law. Our party was a total of 10 adults and I had called several weeks prior to find out if we could have a special cake. Stacey the pastry chef happily obliged and the cake was wonderful. Our servers were outstanding-taking special orders without batting an eye-our food was excellent and beautifully presented. The cocktails were THE BEST WE HAVE HAD ANYWHERE, creative and beautifully mixed. I have dined here many times over the years for business, fun, special occasions etc and have NEVER been anything but happy with each and every element of the experience.
Good lunch. Waiters should let people know they have the option of not having their sandwich bread toasted. It's hard as a rock and tough for those of us with dentures to eat. How about a selection of soft-bread sandwiches, too??
We would definitely recommend this place. Great food and friendly service. It had a great selection of beers. It was casual but still nice, and we could converse at a reasonable volume. The service was prompt and friendly.
The best part was definitely the food. Everything was delicious, but the clams in particular were amazing.
We went here for dinner as we went to this restaurant in the past when we stayed at Hotel Monaco. We were VERY disappointed that the menu selections felt very slim and the kids menu was horrible. I really wished we didn't go here and will look to other dining options in portland in the future.
The four of us had an extreamly pleasant dining experience. We went for brunch. To start, $5.00 mimosas. Great start. Had the ham, poached eggs and cheesy grits. OMG the ham. It was the best ham I have ever eaten. So much though. For the big eaters, it was a fantastic amount. For me, personally, way too much. But did I tell you about the ham, OMG. Lol. Do yourself a favor and try the brunch (get the ham 😉). Have a mimosa or two and enjoy the start if your Sunday. Excellent food, service and atmosphere.
The servers were amazing and very attentive. The food was relish - I had the sole and my husband had the pork, which was a huge portion. everything was so tasty! and I have to say, try the specialty cocktails! my husband had one with egg whites an coffee among other things (omgee right?!) but it was hands down the best drink I've had!
It was a cozy atmosphere to hide away from a damp winter night . A flickering brick oven and chunky dark stained moldings with personal linen shaded table lamps illuminated each booth. We ordered healthy, so I can't speak for any greasy comfort food, but the roasted brussel sprouts were good as was the apple kale salad.
