Service was extremely slow. The server left as we requested a drink menu when she asked for drink orders. The host brought the drink menus and then we didn’t see our server for another 10 min. The whole experience was like that and it wasn’t busy at all. Food was okay, not great. I have a feeling everything sat as our warm drinks were served as lukewarm and food was the same.
The food was awesome. The stake was cooked perfectly and the service was amazing. I like how the menu rotates or is different every time I go. It feels like the ingredients they use are fresh and sourced locally. The drinks were unique and perfect for the occasion. Desert was simple just cookies and milk.
The scallops with oxtail risotto are TO DIE FOR, also the caramelized brussel sprouts are off the charts. My boyfriend got the NY strip steak and it was also completely amazing. The drinks are great as well. 10/10 would return or reccommend to a friend.
Great dinner! The braised wild boar and mushrooms was extremely good and a sizable portion at that. We left satisfied and will be back again for sure.
This has become our go-to business lunch restaurant in downtown Portland. Easy to get to, good service, and everyone can find something they like. Highly recommend.
Waited over 10 mins to take a drink order, and about 10 mins to receive the drinks. With it taking so long we decided to order and everything came out at once.
The waitress was amazing, food was delicious and it’s in a great spot!
Met a relative for lunch and it was rather quiet in the restaurant. Pleasant dining experience.
An excellent lunch, with a great atmosphere. It was very quiet, which allowed us to have a most enjoyable visit.
We enjoyed a really late breakfast (like after lunch time!) there recently. There was a nice selection of offerings, the food was tasty and the service was good. We'll be back!
We had a lovely anniversary dinner at the Red Star. We ordered the chefs menu which was 3 courses, all delicious, with matching wines. Our waiter was lovely, they gave us 2 free drink tickets for our anniversary and we got a further 20% discount as we were staying at the hotel. Loved it!
Great flavors, great service. Will definitely go back!
Service was very slow even though there were only a few people. A few things not on the menu.
Mostly underwhelming experience. The service was very hands off, the food was good but the hot dishes weren't delivered hot. Overall an okay experience, but nothing to return for.
Came here for New Year’s Eve dinner and had a really good time. Service was quick and even our food came out quickly. It is on the pricer end and the food was good. Decent portion sizes, not to much and not to little. I would definitely go back or recommend this restaurant.
Great. Would recommend to anyone
Service was outstanding. Very busy Friday night, layout is very open in dining area. Light and volume little high for romantic date. Great cocktail menu.
It was great as always, but packed full of people.
The service and staff were professional and very courteous. The food was excellently prepared and delicious. Waiter was very attentive
One of Portland's longtime best places that doesn't get the buzz it deserves as a great place to eat and spend time with friends.
Food was phenomenal!
Brick chicken is wonderful. Went back a second night just because of that!
Great meal. Great friendly, accommodating and prompt service. My only whine is that our booth was very tight. However this may be my fault I was new to the reservation app and didn't put the accurate number of guests but we were still seated promptly and treated very well. The food was so good I definitely recommend the beet salad!
Great place for group as menu diverse & lovely during holidays!
Great experience. My burger wasn’t very good but the server took it off and I didn’t even say anything. She read my mind. Everything else was wonderful.
I've gone to RST for many years and have usually had good experiences. And overall, my visit this time was good... but, I will say that my lunch entrée (Autumn Grilled Chicken Salad) I ordered - while it was good, seemed to be a bit small for a meal and for its size was a little on the high priced end ($17 - I think, or at least near that).
My guest on the other had had something that looked great and seemed like a nice value... Autumn Wrap. Was a hearty size and even came with a side salad that literally was almost the same as my entrée salad!
The staff was nice and accommodated our seating request. The environment was good for conversation.
Something that I now see if not on their menu (honestly not sure how long it's been gone) is their previous cornbread prepared in a cast iron skillet... it was so good!
Always love Red Star—not once in 15 years has it failed to impress
Really nice find in downtown Portland recommended by someone on our tour. It was close to the MAX which we wanted. Seasonal locally sourced foods but not a varied menu if you don’t like fish. I had the cheese tray...yummy and the Brussels sprouts..also yummy. Weird combo but it was what I was in the food for.
Service was excellent. So was the food.
I was in town for a conference at the Hilton and this restaurant had good reviews, an American style menu to please diverse palates, and was walkable. It was so good that I came back a second time for another dinner with two other colleagues who were delighted with their meals and friendly attentive service. One is a vegetarian and I eat gluten-free (sensitive not allergy). We all loved our meals--chick pea cakes, ravioli, and creamed corn (which was not heavy). Chocolate pot de creme was divine and perfect for sharing by three women who were already full. Highly recommend.
