Very impressive! Reminded us of our times in Prague! Classy!
We were celebrating our anniversary and had noted that on the reservation, but no mention was made. My wife ordered the duck which was excellent, perfectly cooked with excellent side dishes. I ordered three small plates: corn chowder, roasted oysters and a caesar salad. All 3 small plates were ok, but not out of the ordinary. The server was very attentive and did a great job.
This is a restaurant we go to every time we're in town. Good consistent food at a reasonable price.
Noise level at bar was high when a few ‘spirited’ people showed up. But they moved on. Singer in bar was fantastic. I liked the lit menus...good call! Seemed to take a longer than normal time for our food to arrive. My steak was a little dry but still tasted good. Child at next table was noisy 😑 but I know that’s not the restaurant’s fault. We had looked up several other dining places, but Red Stag was the only one with availability. The valet workers were very nice and friendly.
We don't get to Asheville often, but the Red Stag Grill is always on the "must do" list.
As always, The Red Stag is the perfect pick for a relaxed, delicious Sunday brunch. Our waiter Harrison was fabulous - attentive but unobtrusive. The food is all beautifully prepared and presented. The dining room is charming.
We ate here for dinner at 5pm and breakfast at 9:45am while we stayed at the hotel. Dinner was nice and quiet, great service. The food was ok. For what you got I feel it was over priced. Breakfast was loud due to an inconsiderate group of people seated next to us. The seating is so tightly packed in that you are right on top of others. Not great for quiet, intimate eating. My husband got the pancakes and said they were good. I got the eats, bacon, grits, biscuit, and sausage plate. The eggs were so bland I couldn't eat them. The meat was good, the biscuit was good and the jam was great. The grits were good but could have used a little cheese to add more flavor. Overall I was disappointed for the price point. The Ambiance was great though. Really neat decor. Overall it was not a bad experience, but this was for our anniversary and I wish it had been better quality food. (Interesting note, the sanitation rating was 95.0, Hardee's across the street was 96, so there is that).
Delicious food and wonderful service. Just a bit pricey for a salad at lunchtime.
Great place to eat. Food was amazing. The service was friendly and knowledgeable of the food items. The live music was good but ruined slightly by the hotel music playing over the speakers. Was a great date night.
We were there for my husbands birthday. It was very not very but the music was not playing due to a previous power outage. Service was great.
Good food and atmosphere. A little pricey though.
Quality and menu selection far below what it was a couple of years ago. This was once my favorite restaurant in Asheville, not any more. Nothing special about anything our party of 6 had.
Great Food. Great service. Our second time there and far from our last.
The food and service were wonderful! The venue is quite impressive! We will be returning!
Great food and service. We chose the chefs selection meal with wine pairings. Was excellent! Strawberry salad, scallops, Elk and dessert with outstanding wines.
The dinner at Red Stag was very good and the wine selection was excellent. Our server was most attentive. The prices are on the high side.
Absolutely amazing food and service. I would recommend it to anyone.
Atmosphere was absolutely amazing. Pricing was extremely high for what you got. My steak was mediocre to say the least and was just tossed on top of grilled asparagus that literally had no additional flavoring for the palette at all. My biggest disappointment was the fact that I put on our reservation that it was my wife's birthday and we wanted to make it a special occasion. No-one in the entire restaurant even commented on our special day and our server only offered the desert menu as if nothing was going on. If you want a good drink in a pretty place then this is the joint. If you want don't to pay extremely high pricing for ok food and a staff that obviously doesn't care if it is a special occasion or not I suggest you find somewhere else. Asheville is full of places for foodies and I can't say that I will return for the food but maybe a drink at the bar?
Excellent meal. Service was great and efficient Love the location.
We opted for the pre-fixed menu with wine pairing. We started with a kale salad with strawberries, which was fresh and light. The second course included scallops, which were yummy. The elk was exquisite. So tender. The dessert, which was a blueberry pound cake was a bit disappointing. It was hard and felt frozen. Had to send it back. All in all, a great meal.
As always, delicious and pleasant - Harrison is a superb server
My friends and I were meeting for dinner here. The restaurant had been recommended by a person on my plane. The food and service was great. Loved it! When we first sat there was a wedding above the restaurant with loud bass, but we mentioned it to the staff and within minutes it was so quiet you barely heard the music. So we ended up having wonderful conversation along with great food!
The food was fine, not great. The service was very good. The value was just not there compared to most local affordable favorite places...
Everything was very good. Service was excellent. My husbands meat could have been a bit bigger. Was done just the way he likes it. Would go again
Great food, service and ambience. Both the elk and bison were outstanding.
Overall, great food and service. And beautiful setting.
Average Breakfast. Grits could've been great but weren't hot.
Excellent food and service. Classic steakhouse fare and more. Decor is old-world hunting lodge. Quite pricey but worth it for special dining.
Is the tasting menu with wine pairing. Found it to be tasty and filling. Good way to try several different items in the menu
Beautiful as always. The waiter was not up to par by a long shot. My father didn’t receive the meal he ordered and it was Father’s Day but so that was disappointing but it was def the waiters doings. The waiter was very uninformed and in left field and inattentive. Food was excellent. Ambiance was excellent. Other staff was also excellent.
The Hunter's Board appetizer was excellent as was the Elk Loin. Service was perfect.
Great place to celebrate birthday , anniversary , etc. The ambiance is a pleasant change
from most upscale restaurants - very European.
We enjoyed dinner and breakfast the next morning. Great hospitality
We met with dear friends in Asheville for Father's Day weekend and their anniversary. We have had drinks here before but have never dined in the restaurant. It was first class from start to finish. All of us enjoyed our food from salad through desert. I personally had lobster bisque and pan seared duck breast (1st time) and it was superb. The service was kind, friendly and on point. I do not believe you could go wrong here.
What an outstanding restaurant with world class service, food, and atmosphere. Love this place!!
The building and restaurant’s rustic, high end decor is lovely creating a lush upscale dining experience. Staff are warm and competent including valet, hostess station, and servers. Unfortunately the menu is very limited, questionably executed, while excessively priced.
This was one of the best meals we've had on our visits to Asheville, worth every penny. I enjoy the dramatic decor (also in the hotel) and beautiful presentations of healthy food. In particular, the table for two in the back with the large leather library chairs made our experience much more memorable. Superb service! I recommend the 4-course tasting menu which was more than satisfying for my appetite, and will appeal to anyone who likes smaller than mammoth portions. Avoiding gluten and food sensitivities are not a problem. I ordered the elk menu that included a strawberry kale salad, a scallop course, elk served with perfectly cooked broccolini, mashed potatoes, and a huckleberry vincotto (wonderful discovery), followed by a gluten-free flourless chocolate dessert (they agreed to exchange the dessert on the menu for me). Oh the detail....the steak knives qualify as a work of art too. My husband ordered the intriguingly flavored carrot-rhubarb soup and halibut that was prepared like a work of art, from the regular menu. He preferred to try a lovely glass of port for dessert and next time I'll order one too. Thank you for the celebration of dining!
Came with friends. Wonderful dinner. Loved the decor. My daughter suggested it and we are so glad.
This is the third year we have gone here for our Anniversary. This one was special (50th) and they did not fail to delight us in every phase of the evening. My wife was being adventuresome and had a buffalo steak, I settled for what I knew to be great, the salmon. Both meals were outstanding with our selections cooked perfectly. They were made even better with the wine selections suggested for us by our waiter, David. The carrot cake, curtesy of the restaurant capped a great evening.
The food was awesome. Had a nice lodge atmosphere
We really enjoyed Red Stag, the food was great and overall the experience was wonderful. However, we cannot recommend the Grand Bohemian hotel, it was average at best.
