Absolutely amazing. Paul was an amazing waiter and he was so attentive to make sure every need of ours was met.
The 4 course tasting dinner with wine pairing remains one if our favorite meals!
repeat patrons....anytime we're in the area, a must stop....celebrated daughters birthday...they made her feel special....a bit pricey, but well worth the indulgence
Service was great. Food was awesome. The 4 course menu was a phenomenal option.
Such a special place! Really really enjoyed it. It is expensive but a great place for a special occasion. The waiter was wonderful, so nice and accommodating
Wonderful experience for an evening meal and the service was great. It was amazing to get to try antelope and elk and experience fine dining at this level in Asheville.
Overall great place. Good bourbon selection though not all on the menu. Had steaks, both slightly undercooked, but better undercooked than overcooked IMO and were tasty. Staff was very courteous but slightly inattentive for such a nice place, but it was Sat. night and busy. I could recommend this place for almost any occasion. Not perfect but very good.
Atmosphere and then some. Cozy fire, live music, great food and drinks.
The steaks and elk chops were delicious and the calamari never disappoints. Definitely our favorite place for special occasion dining.
Great atmosphere! Great dinner! Loved it!! Will definitely be back!!
We went to the red stag grill as it was a birthday dinner
Anniversary dinner—great food, great service, fun environment. We can’t wait to go back. Maybe tonight!
At dinner on Jan.2, there were no olives for my martini, sold out on New Year’s Eve.
Food was delicious, service was excellent.
We went to celebrate our friends’ anniversary and were comped a dessert.
Fabulous food that is extraordinarily well-prepared and thoughtfully dished. Definitely worth saving for. Wonderful venue for special occasions such as noteworthy birthdays or anniversaries. Well worth the drive. A true gem in the Appalachians.
Visited on New Years Eve and it was spectacular. Loved the ambiance and food.
We enjoyed the 5 course dinner!
The Red Stag had a very slippery floor outside the kitchen. My wife and my friends wife both slipped and fell walking in and out of the restaurant. A waiter was walking by and hit my wife in the head with a plate, kept on walking. We mentioned this to our waiter, it was shrugged off. Dinner extremely overpriced for what it was. Save yourself and go elsewhere.
Loved having unusual food prepared in a yummy way.
Wonderful from arrival to departure
Absolutely fabulous! A typical Kessler Hotel and worth everthing! A must go to and we will go again. 5 star.
First time we had been to this resturant. We both loved it. The food choices were really good and the prices were better then we had expected. Our server was great. They were very busy but the food still came out quickly and was prepared perfectly. We will go back!!
We had a relaxing visit with friends and enjoyed a delicious Sunday morning brunch. We will definitely plan to visit again next time we are in Asheville.
We chose The Red Stag for our after wedding dinner. It delivered on ambiance and romance. Our server was wonderful, talkative, congratulatory, and timely. She knew her wines. The big appetizer, Hunt I believe it was called, was full of flavor and sharable. For dinner I chose the Ribeye, my wife chose the Filet. Both were good, tender and juicy. However, I was looking for a little more flavor with the Ribeye. More so considering the price. That was my only negative thought. It was a beautiful night. Great atmosphere, quiet. They seated us at the king and queen seats. Ask for those for that special occasion. We will return and I highly recommend.
My wife and I choose this place in Asheville for for our 34 th anniversary before we headed to Biltmore for a Christmas tour. I loved the antelope and the scallops that my wife had were tender and tasty. The service was second to none the atmosphere was unique and luxurious. However, all the antlers and trophy heads may make some Ashvillers uncomfortable. We also got a straw with our delicious pear drink something that is rare in this area.
Our server Karen was superb, top notch. The Friday fish and chips special, though a bargain, was soggy vs crispy. We’ll be back. We were there for our anniversary this past June and it was delightful.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with impeccable decor. However, we were seated by the kitchen and it was terribly noisy. Our table was very wide and I was therefore a good distance across from the other guests and could not carry on a pleasant conversation due to the noise level.
This was very disappointing considering we had already had an unfriendly batender that was very slow did not even get our order correct.
Food, as always, was wonderful. Service was below par with us having to ask for bread, pepper and water.
Good place. Over ambiance’d for a lunch. Would go back.
Great service from our server and attention from the bartender to make sure he understood our drink order. He basically customized our cocktail. Elk chops were decadently tender, smokey and delicious. I wasn’t feeling well and ordered a vegetarian plate which was tasty and well presented, not a thoughtless plate of sides. Always a great experience!
My scallop was flavorless, there was a hair in my soup, my steak was underdone, and my tart was overpowered with nutmeg. My partner’s dishes were acceptable, but he said the sweet potato mash and broccoli raab was flavorless. Our server was kind, but the meals took a while between courses.
We ate our Christmas dinner 2018 here and the menu was great! I was disappointed in how rushed the wait staff appeared. We had to ask for bread and it came after the apps. The food was brought out in a timely manner and without prompting on our part. We didn’t feel rushed even though they were very busy.
We expected holiday music as it was on the description. We didn’t get ANY.
Our reservation was at 5:30. We finished at after 7pm and as we walked out the person sat at the piano and started to play. Very disappointing since it was advertised with the dinner and would have added to the holiday feel. There was no music during dinner, only the sound of plates and talking.
The food was good, the lobster was just ok. The steak was cooked perfectly. The staff, though rushed were friendly and perhaps a few people called out unexpectedly.
I would do this again, but would not expect holiday music. So that should perhaps be removed from the dinning description and be a nice surprise if someone can make it.
We left full and happy with our meal as it was delicious.
Outstanding 4-course prix fixe menu (appetizer, soup/salad, main and dessert). Well trained wait staff. Excellent cocktail and wine menu. Bravo to Red Stag. See you again soon.
Red Stag Grill is a beautiful restaurant for Christmas dinner. However, we were not served the sparkling wine offered with the $85.00 per person menu and the food was just slightly above average. The service was excellent with a very nice menu. Overall, it was a festive meal but extremely overpriced.
This was our first dining experience at the Red Stag Grill. We were initially seated directly in front of the very noisy open kitchen. We asked to be relocated to another table (many were open) and were refused. We objected. Our waiter checked with the manager and once again we were refused. None of us have ever encountered this type of behavior in any restaurant, especially one noted as a fine restaurant.
Dinner was a four course limited menu which was good, but not great. We expected better and all agreed that once we received the bill of almost $600 including tax and tip for the four of us, it was not nearly worth it.
We do understand that sometimes during a large crowd fixed menu type of dining that things do not always go according to plan or desires. We will plan to dine again at the Red Stag and hope for a much better experience.
During our stay in Asheville, we also dined at Curate, Ruth's Chris, and the Lobster Trap, all of which were substantially better than the Red Stag.
Wonderful for Christmas Eve!
Great meal, very friendly knowledgeable wait staff and bartenders.
We had a delightful time at the Red Stag Grill on Christmas Eve. The warm environment lent itself to an overall cozy feeling. Service was friendly and staff were accommodating. The food was great. We will definitely go back.
We brought our 4 month old with us for Christmas Eve dinner. Staff was more than accommodative of the baby and stroller we had with us. Will be coming back to dine soon!
It was delicious as usual. The service here is always on point and I’ve never been disappointed.
Eating at tge Red Stag is always a special treat. The wine pairing dinner is fantastic.
